    You continue to amaze me. I've made charts like this before, but not with the white separator between groups. Most of my users are amazed enough with separating the groups. EXCELent!

    Fantastic - thank you!! Clunky that we should have to "trick" Excel like this. You would think that they would have got their heads around this by now.
    But, no, awesome - thank you for thinking outside the square when I no longer have time to!!

    Hi Steven, not sure if you can do this when starting from Word. That has limited options. I would recommend making your chart in Excel and then copy/pasting special your chart into your Word file. I will have to do a post to show you how in the near future. Thanks for the question.

    I knew it, I knew it... I KNEW IT!! I knew this type of presentation must have been out there, but after viewing multiple vids this is the only one I found that demo's it!!! Kudos! One additional tip: In 2013 you can select individual sections of the bar graphs and make them custom colors. Thus in this example you could change the entire Budgeted column into hues of green, and the entire Actual column into hues of red. It's a bit of effort but can be quite visually distinctive!

      exceldashboards This works almost perfect. Just one more minor concern is that how to secure the category label at the center. I have tried to format the source data but it's not working (multi-level category level box is already ticked). Maybe you could help me. Thanks in advance!

    • @exceldashboards
      @exceldashboards  10 лет назад

      iammarzhie Hi iammarzhie, not sure your exact problem. If you want the center to show the tick mark, enter a space in the spreadsheet cell that would normally hold a category. Hope this helps. Steve=True

    Great video, very helpful! One note, if you want the grid lines to continue throughout the graph you can actually delete the "filler" column itself and the grid lines stay consistent across the "white space" on the graph.

    Cheers!! Did help me a lot. Strangely though I didn't have to press the switch rows columns button (in Excel 2013).
    Used years instead of products, so I had around 20 in this category, maybe this changed it?
    Anyway keep up the good work.

    Thanks Exceldashboards - appreciate it! I ask because one of my work colleagues had chided me some months ago for struggling to create graphs in Excel and then copy/paste them over into Word. "Why not just do everything in Word...? It's so much easier?" she laughed. I was mortified. That, and I've noticed that if you copy/paste from Excel to Word, and then send your Word doc, the data may not transfer over making it difficult to edit. Have you found this too/found ways to get around this?
