That was a lot of work! Can't help with the bubbles from the sponge because it happens to me too lol I much prefer the brush. I do like the end result with the dark grey top & the pale grey wash took away the starkness of the white. I love how the filled-in grooves still looked like grooves at the end but without the annoying dirt trap! Very stressful doing a commission piece but well done 😊
You should have not filled in the lines. But since you did, you should have used gel stain. You would have had the perfect color and it would sit on top of the wood versus penetrating. I think you need to watch more videos before refinishing for clients personal pieces. Best of luck to you.

Thank you! And yes, they even had some damage to the top from water getting in the grooves, so they are now happy with it.
