    Great video thank you!! For everybody struggling with the common problem introduced when you render the video that the offset is not aligned correctly I found a solution that works for me! Make sure that your "Frame-size" is the same dimensions as your video preview width & height. (you can change this in your "sequence-settings". Also make sure that when you export the video that your output resolution is the same as the source resolution. This way the correct numbers for the offset actually works the way it is supposed to work. Hope this helps!! @SmertimbaGraphics thanks again for simplifying and explaining this transition!

    • @SmertimbaGraphics

    Very nice turorial, quick to the point and the transition doesnt look clunky like many others. But for me it doesnt seem to really seem to work after i pre render it. Everything looks smooth in the preview before rendering but after rendering, it only offsets a little bit and then snaps into place which makes it look super wonky. I was wondering if you have encountered the same problem and/or know a solution?

    • @roadtobufftoni
      @roadtobufftoni Год назад +19

      @@SmertimbaGraphics I fixed it and now also know why that happened. At first I had the offset keyframed so it moved only 480 pixels. The weird thing is, in the preview it looked like that would be enough to do a full cycle. But like I said, after pre rendering it it would just offset a little bit. So i played around with the offset value and found out that it had to offset 1920 pixels to do a full cycle after pre rendering (Which in hindsight is very obvious). Before rendering its doing 3 full cycles though, which isnt really intuitive.
      Well, turns out I had the preview resolution set to 1/4 instead of Full, which means the values dont ranslate correctly to the preview screen, unless you set it to Full. So moral of the story: Dont trust what the preview is showing you unless you set it to full resolution lol.

      Either add more blur to the middle keyframe or make the movement faster by dragging the blue keyframe handles inward

  • @alienfunbug
    @alienfunbug Год назад

    Sorry for the noob question, but can you tell me the difference between this and adding gaussian blur to a default push transition? I'm enjoying this method because I can apply it to an adjustment layer and use it as a preset but, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something else as I learn. Thanks!

    • @SmertimbaGraphics
      @SmertimbaGraphics  Год назад

      This way you have more control over the transition, it's quicker to apply, it's a more professional approach overall. But built-in presets are fine to use, they need an overlap between videos though I believe, so not all transitions will look the same based on where video starts or ends

    Please review this tutorial!
    This edit only works during preview. Rendering this edit always results in a split frame for some reason when using the needed aspect ratio value for a full number of cycles.
    Unless you're using an older version of premiere pro perhaps? Either way, I really liked your succinct style of demonstation. Too bad the edit didn't work!

    • @bennetthobbs5989
      @bennetthobbs5989 Год назад

      I had the same problem, and I came back to this video to see if anyone else did. Following the advice of another commenter, I found that the problem was because of two things -- the offset value was slightly off, and for some reason it is also affected when previewing in lower than Full resolution.
      To fix it, I stopped my playhead on the freeze frame and then adjusted the offset value until it had completed another cycle. I then previewed and rendered it and so far it's working fine. Give it a try!

    • @bennetthobbs5989
      @bennetthobbs5989 Год назад

      @@SmertimbaGraphics This was a good tutorial. Thank you for posting it! Might be a good idea to add the advice given by the other commenter 3 months ago into your description as this seems to be a common issue

    • @muunhead
      @muunhead Год назад

      @@bennetthobbs5989 also saw that comment and checked beforehand. It's not a preview issue. I was already using full resolution preview.
      Also, my offset value wasn't off, it actually seems like that's what makes it glitch: as soon as i'd change away from the correct value, the frame goes back to its reasonable placement in the cycle. But as soon as i scroll it back to any correct value for a full number of cycles, it jumps to split screen as soon as i land on the exact value. Before rendering, both typing in the correct value and scrolling till you get there will work fine with the frame. After rendering, it's like trying to attach 2 magnets from the wrong ends 👎

    • @muunhead
      @muunhead Год назад +1

      *Workaround for anybody facing the same issue:*
      If you drag your offset value far enough away from the correct value (for me it was about -/+50) and then make the adjustment layer as short as possible on the timeline, then the frame being off is not noticeable as much. It's not ideal but i obsessed over this and found no real explanation or solution to this rendering glitch
