  • This is the train I rode in Northern Ireland (UK). In downtown Belfast, these trains operate like commuter rails but as you go further out, they are much more like regional trains on many lines. These are diesel-powered trains which I think is flawed since it's not good for the environment, but yeah, this is my first ever train compilations video :D
    I went to Northern Ireland on 30 July to see the Giants Causeways and other things in Belfast. It was just a short day trip but I figured I'd railfan some trains as well.

      Oh kul. I was only in Northern Ireland for a holiday sadly, so it'll be a long while before I go there again :(

    Diesel powered trains as we dont have the infrastructure for electrification. Also where exactly do folks think electricity is produced and with what energy source.

      .... a number of different sources, including renewables, such as wind energy from the turbines that can be seen around the countryside. NIR along with its parent Translink is looking forward to seeing some or all of its rail network electrified.
