I came to Belfast 2001 so this is all so fascinating. Quite difficult to get my bearings! 0:22 soon to be gone bridge! I loved those slam door trains 5:19 that were still going to Larne when I was here. They reminded me of the 70s in suburban EMUs in London. And I didn’t know what I was looking at until the Lagan Weir caption came up! A pre-Odyssey Belfast. It’s not really until you get past the cranes and the huge h&w warehouse emerges that you think ahhhh that’s where we are. Extraordinary earthworks 2:18. Thanks for posting, being so prescient to video record for posterity!
Great to see the stuff that was only a distant memory from my childhood! Would love to see a bit more of that area and the Lagan, prior to the new weir being built. That was fantastic though.
@@nicktuk159 Thank you very much, will always ask first as your video! Will probably have to condense down. My pages on social media are under "Document Belfast" if interested. Share a lot of history videos and tourism ones about Belfast.

Very nice . You captured a piece of history ! 😀
I love the sound of the thumpers, reminds me of my childhood going to school on the train :-)
Fantastic video. I was living in London at the time so thanks for showing me what I was missing!
Remember the SeaCat?
Not a big fish in sight ;) thanks for sharing Nick. Funny to think most of the buildings in the video no longer exist.
Fantastic
This video (Beta max ?) Should be in the National archives to be seen by all young students and younger generation.
Its a classic " Belfast" one.
I had forgotten what it all looked liked. A very good record of a period of redevelopment in Belfast.

Fantastic footage to have been recorded.
Remember people opening the door and jumping out before the train had even stopped moving? Impossible these days.
Hi there! Would you mind if I shared this video? Full credit to your RUclips will be given too of course, great video!
Please do ... many thanks for asking :)
