From Layne to William is like how AC/DC went from Bon to Brian after the former's death. Both are excellent vocalists and a good fit for the band.

I disagree he’s not Layne I stopped listening when he became the new voice. The first album with him was good but it’s just not the same for me when he sings.

That would be cool, but most of the crazy stories have been confirmed by the band members in multiple interviews. It seems they enjoy talking about that stuff. Always makes them laugh :)

William is incredible! Jerry couldn't have found a better individual for the job. William has wrote some of their best post Layne songs. Jerry and him harmonised well together and Will hold his own on classic AiC songs and new as well. Great guitarist, it really adds to the bands sound. People tend to trash on William just because he's not Layne. If people would sit down and give this era of Alice a chance, they would be absolutely blown away.
He's helping expose their music to more people so it's all good & he's excellent at it.

Most of us just don't agree with the name not changing, it's greedy and disrespectful. And the new stuff is pretty ho-hum.
@@The_sinner_Jim_Whitney most??? You mean an extremely minority thinks like that (you're the first dude I hear saying that). First of all, the band wasn't made by Layne, so there is no reason to change the band name because of his death. That is up to Cantrell, the master mind behind the band.
William is awesome. He's written some of my favorite AIC songs like Last of My kind and Phantom Limb. Thanks for helping Alice keep on rockin \m/

Last of my kind is a great song. He wrote So far under off the new album which sounds more like an AIC song then most on the album.
When he started playing the Kiss shit he had ME, what strange ways (I'm in, rock brother man) I'm black and I love metal! I'm meet Alice opening for extreme back in the day when they we're playing bars cool dudes been a fan from the beginning and my man on the guitar playing acoustic he rocks man more power to you brother

I mean, most of their songs are so easy to play they make you want to jam with them around just to kind of show off and obviously get owned 'cause THEY are the real deal.
Jimi Hendrix and Ace Frehley are my top two favorite guitarist, and hearing William DuVall speak about them and their own style music, back to back, was pretty cool. It felt like someone finally understood what I feel and see in these two guitarists. Crazy.
He's such a great musician and great singer, I really love his guitar playing, he seems like a very cool guy, I wish him success and happiness . Mr . DuVall please keep up the great work

I've seen him with Jerry twice and once with AIC. Cool dude doing a great job in an almost impossible situation. His new solo album is fantastic, by the way. "The Veil of all My Fears" is my new favorite song of 2019.
@@Banana_Split_Cream_Buns Saw Jerry open for Metallica in '98. Then saw 2 shows on the 2002 Degradation Trip tour, which is when William's band was his backing band. One at the Aragon in Chicago and then in Peoria on Halloween. Just saw AIC this year in Peoria. All good shows.
Saw those tours too! I remember William coming out to sing the Layne parts when Jerry did some AIC songs during the encore. We were like DAYUMMMM dude has PIPES! Not surprised at all when they announced that he'd joined AIC

I'm thankful that AIC found this guy and chose to continue on...I really enjoy each of their 3 albums together!!(Especially Rainier Fog)
William brings his own unique voice to the table(that harmonizes perfectly with Jerry's) and is an established guitar player. I think the band had every right to continue the legacy of Alice in Chains.

I was working as an EMT at one of their shows and I got to give an ice pack to him. Got to see him and Jerry from a foot away! It was awesome!
I partied with William at The Wreck Room in Atlanta YEARS ago..... cant remember who he was playing with at the time..... he was one of the coolest guys in the local scene, glad to see that he is the same guy.

I saw him with Alice n chains in 2018 at Rock on the Range and for obvious reasons was skeptical before hand but honestly the show was still fucking amazing. He does a good job playing original AIC songs + new material that they have written!
I actually approve of this guy as a replacement. He is pretty good I like it. The sound. They sound good. They just need to release some more bangers.

Yeah its why im not exactly loving ranier fog, not enough of that dark/heavy Alice vibe IMO. Sure So Far Under is heavy but BGWTB and TDPDH have way heavier and darker stuff. Its not bad but not exactly my taste.

Don't get me wrong, I *love* Layne and, his vocal is great, but I don't understand what so *special* about it?

Imo Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder are better vocalists, but I don't comparing them, I just enjoying the amazing music
Also, about their pride, well I agree with you, not because that was Layne era, because aging:
-Layne was 29 during his *last* live performance with AiC in 1996;
-William was 39 during his *first* live performance with AiC in 2006.

A great musician with great style. I think we crossed paths in Atlanta 1988-1991 before I left for the Marines at the METROPLEX, the POINT and the WHITE DOT.
William Duvall is the real deal. His new solo acoustic album is beautiful. AIC couldn't have a better guy in the band.

I love PRS and not trying to be negative because I’m sure he’s a great guitar player, but that is one of my least favorite guitar tones for an acoustic..
It's not because of the guitar, it's coming directy through the preamp of the guitar, with no kind of acoustic simulation on top, that's why it doesn't sound great.
