Had a neighbor years ago, an older women who had a house her husband built on a bluff. When the landslide hit she was lucky to survive riding it down in her bathtub and later took what she could salvage and built herself a smaller house on the beach (with the help of good neighbors.)This was more than 50 years ago but the house is still there.
people wouldn't know if they didn't see it, how do you think scientists have information on them in the first place? they don't just run away, they observe, risking their own lives to get this information
the thing that urks me instead, these people aren't scientists but they still do it, but, when you see something like that it's only natural to freeze, so, they do the only thing they can do is record, it's something you have to see multiple times to finally snap out of it, to others, they just run naturally

I've been in a small rockslide while climbing before. A friend accidentally sent a rock bigger than a mini-fridge down a hill while approaching a route, triggering a slide of dry scree lasting about 60-70 seconds. That was scary as hell. This? This is terrifying.
WTF is wrong with these people, Its snapping thick trees like toothpicks and there just standing there watching it really close. You wouldnt find me anywhere near a potential landslide... I canceled a trip up the Rockies cause the road i had to drive up had a warning of one and guess what same day i was supposed to go it took out 200 feet of road like it was never there.

I've seen one clip, can't find it anywhere, where a dude jumped from the road, 30ft drop to a building roof, because he had no other option, he landed on the roof, broke his legs as far as I could tell but where he was stood before just disappeared completely. He must've lived but it looked extremely painful. Most incredible jump I've ever seen.

@@bishopp14 this is render(computer graffic) but it really happend. This fragment of video from documentary film about Mount Saint Helens. And I think I have seen it on Discovery channel. I guess it happend in 1980s .
