    Once upon a time in an airport while I was heading for my break I ran into Marie in a Southwest Airline gate. She was so nice and fun, and extremely beautiful. Needless to say I took my break with her. She treated me like I was her cousin or some family member. Incredible.

      +Sandra Ruckel Take heart. Notice that Donny said, (1)"The Donny & Marie [Vegas] show is ending in November"; (2) "Donny&Marie are not ending" and (3)"This bond will never be broken". Those two have something up their sleeves, guaranteed! So "Stay Tuned".

      Sandra Ruckel Donny has many things in the work such as his 62nd album, solo tour in the U.K. and US , something to do with TV, writing something for hopefully Broadway plus many more things. Marie also has things she wants to do. Donny did an interview last week where he stated all this and that he will never retire.

    I wish Donny and Marie’s last show in Las Vegas could be on television!! Come on ABC, one more time!!! The Donny and Marie show started on ABC in 1975 when they were 17 and 15 years old. Now Donny and Marie are 62 and 60.

      Alice Roe 59 and 61

    • @63DW89A
      @63DW89A 5 лет назад +3

      +Alice Roe, that is a great idea, televising the last D&M Flamingo show in NOV 2019. Too many idiots running TV networks nowadays for that to likely happen though, sadly. But then again, Donny is extremely bright, with incredible instincts in the entertainment business, so he may have something already lined up! For example, my "6th sense" tells me that Marie's stint on "Dancing With The Stars" and subsequent Nutri-systems endorsements were a bit of "Donny-dealin' " behind the scenes! In performing arts, Marie may arguably be the most talented Osmond, with Donny a very close second. But in business "wheelin'-dealin' " Donny, hands down, is the top Osmond, with Jimmy a distant second. It is interesting that over the years, when Donny has discovered opportunities, he continually pulls Marie in with him. Makes me wonder if that is just the strong bond between D&M, or is there a bit of "distance" between Donny and the older Osmond brothers? Post "Donny&Marie" show in 1979, Donny was sort of pushed out of the way and told he was "washed up" by "Osmond Family Enterprises". Donny's 1978 marriage to Debbie was blamed for the D&M show ratings decline; in reality it was the bad business decision by OFE to move production to Utah that hurt the D&M show. A variety show lives or dies on its guest stars, and it is MUCH easier to book guest stars from a "near-Hollywood" location than from a Utah location!

      @@63DW89A I've seen Donny and Marie's show in Vegas twice. I always thought Donny had the most talent (he was also my teenage crush). That was until I saw their Vegas show. Marie out does Donny on so many levels. Dancing, singing and personality. She has also worked her butt off to get where she is. I think Donny is slowing down more than Marie. I'll always love both of them.

    • @63DW89A
      @63DW89A 5 лет назад +4

      @@shirleys765 Performance-wise I would agree that present day Marie has passed Donny. In their early teen years, Donny was top talent, but Marie quickly caught up, so that by the 2nd year of the D&M show, Marie was equal to Donny. You are correct that Marie has really worked hard, and pushed hard to move way beyond her teen talents. Today, much of Donny's talents are hidden behind the scenes as he handles the business and produces the shows. Donny's "slowing down" as you accurately put it are inevitable due to age, but also mainly because a single person cannot handle being in front of the audience and doing all the producing and business too, as one or the other will demand full attention at times. I'm sure that the D&M Vegas act has opened all kinds of opportunities for each individually, plus for D&M together and that is why the Vegas act will have to end. "Marie and the Osmonds" has opened in selected venues around the country, with Marie, Merrill, Jay and David(Alan's son) performing together; it has been successful, although naturally that show will not pull the crowds that "D&M" does. But, in that regard, neither Donny or Marie alone could pull the crowds that "D&M" do together. "Donny&Marie" is a force beyond Donny or Marie individually, as together they truly enhance each other. "D&M" is a timeless act they should each be very proud of. Donny said in this interview, he and Marie have a "Bond that will never be broken", and I think that "unbreakable bond" shows in everything they have ever done together, all the way back to their teen years.

    • @shirleys765

      @@63DW89A I am very impressed by your knowledge of Donny and Marie. I would have loved to have seen the other Osmonds over the years but never got the chance. I did hear, as you spoke of, Marie, Merrill, Jay and David performances together. You're right, neither Donny or Marie alone could pull the crowds individually as they do together. I remember hearing about when Donny was injured and couldn't do the shows. Marie had guests fill in for him. I wouldn't want to go unless they were together.

    There are several great biographies of Donny&Marie online. The powerful brother/sister bond these two share is due to their unique childhood. They did not attend public schools, and were constantly together for much of their adolescent & teen years, and were genuinely "pals". Record producer Mike Curb, who successfully steered the older Osmond brothers into rock&roll, had Marie step in to help with high harmonies, on Donny's intended solo album, after Donny's teen voice change. Mike Curb instantly heard that Marie's voice perfectly blended with Donny's, and the "Donny solo album" instead turned into the first D&M album in 1974. D&M then began album promotion on Johnny Carson, the Mike Douglas Show, etc. ABC Programming Head Fred Silverman watched D&M guest-hosting with Mike Douglas, and although impressed with the poise, maturity and amazing talent of the teenage brother&sister, was most struck by the fun they were having with each other and noticed how that completely charmed the audience. Silverman saw the potential for a TV variety show built around the unique, fun D&M brother/sister male/female dynamic that had totally captivated audiences. And D&M have been captivating audiences ever since. Amazing that although the personal talent of Donny or Marie either by themselves is superb enough to wow audiences, (as is the talent of the other Osmond brothers too!), it is the instinctive rapport, and complementary nature of the D&M brother/sister bond dynamic that soars so powerfully as its own "personality", making "D&M" an act and force above either Donny or Marie individually.

    I wish their final show would be televised. This entire family has gone through so much, beginning with Virl and Tom having severe hearing difficulties, and their parents were "recommended" not to have any more children. I guess the Mormons are like the Catholics but I don't know that to be a fact. Donny had surgery for a shoulder injury while rehearsing on DWTS, Jimmy has had 2 strokes, Alan and his son David both have MS but they refuse to let it define them in any way except that Alan no longer performs with his siblings. Marie's son Michael committed suicide, and after the decades of work all over the world, the people who managed their money left them broke which is part of the reason these 2 are still putting on a show and 3 of the brothers are doing shows in Branson. Back just before I was a teen, I was one of millions who had a crush on Donny, but I loved all 5 of them. I still have that first vinyl album that I got for Christmas when I was 12.

    NOOOO!!! Going to Vegas to see their show is one of my biggest wishes!!! I won't be able to financially get there this year!!! I absolutely hate hearing this news (for selfish reasons of course) but I totally understand why they feel it's time.... Man! I bummed! Where's Oprah to send me to Vegas and to their show?!?

    Donny is returning to Vegas.
    He will be starring in his own solo show at Harrah's.
