Class 377 (Southern)
This crossing is one of Schweizer Electronic AG's 'Vamos' systems which was installed here in 2015. The lights and the sounders here are quite different to the typical user worked level crossing set-up. The alarms are surprisingly quite loud. There was previously 'Unipart Dorman' lights and 'yodalarms' here, but this got upgraded by the system currently installed. An old 'yodalarm' from the old set-up is still here, although it is not wired up so therefore does not work. Overall, this is quite an interesting crossing.
Thanks For Watching!
I remember night time walks to this crossing in the never ending summer of 1976, the heat wave year, the wooden boards smelt of pitch and creosote. Such a good memory..In the daytime I would often walk out on the crossing boards and see a yellow dots coming from each direction taking ages to arrive because of the straight view. I remember one particular class 33 loco running light, the ground seeming to bounce in front of the weight. Somethings should never change!
Great level crossing!Imagine taking a vehicle across-it must tire you out!
Yeah, you've got to open both gates, drive over and close them again lol
*Thank you so much for sharing. I appreciate your interest. Love from Saigon - Vietnam*
Thank you! 😁👍
They could've done a better job looping that tone...or just used some Bombardier alarms...
Nonetheless, nice find!
The Bombardier system alarms sound very similar to Schweizer Electronic alarms. The ones here do loop more clearly than the Bombardier ones. Thanks 😎
The newer Schweizer Electronic alarms now sound exactly the same as Bombardier alarms
Great video! They should've kept the old alarm, lol. Those sound worse than the ones installed at Lydney!
Thanks! Yeah lol - having been to the Lydney crossings, they do sound better than the ones here.
I like that crossing but the alarms make a pop sound almost
That's pretty impressive! I've passed it on the train quite a few times, and I passed it like this back in November, and it seems strange that they kept the yodalarms from the old crossing here. Was going to film here but I never did in the end. Shame really as it looks nice and sounds really loud - like a loud Norden Gates! Fab video UKLCC 👍🏻😁
Old crossing I never seen one
Thanks! It was louder than I thought. Shame the yodalarm was turned off as I would've liked to have heard both alarms sounding. Quite an interesting crossing though. Worth the long walk through fields 😁
This current crossing was installed in 2015, there was a previous system beforehand
auto
That's a bloody annoying alarm.but stramgely not half as bad as most level crossing ones.Cool crossing too.
Nice sound
I like that alarm
In West or East Sussex. This Train Is Very Common to find.
I lived just yards from this crossing in the 70's and watched tadpoles trundle along here without problems, now this stupid sound and gates. I feel sorry for the residents who have to go through this over protected crossing.
Level Crossing safety has most certainly become more of a concern over the years. I bet there was far more crossings like this around in the 70s with none of the safety features this one has. Personally, I don't see this crossing as too high a risk as the line is very straight both directions and the train speed is not exactly fast, but there must be a reason I don't know of as to why these lights were installed.
Musical level crossing
Nice !
Thanks! 😁
Nice and strange crossing! Sounds like the alarms are clapping!
Thanks! 😃 Yeah it sounds like it's continuously looping over and over. Quite interesting.
10000/10 COOL!
**Schöner Bahnübergang**
Sorry, I just thought that putting German stuff in stars was funny😂. Nice level crossing or Schöner Bahnübergang Jamie😉
Danke 😄
How peculiar. Great catch
Thanks Jarton 😎👍
Cool crossing
Great video and crossing!
Thanks! 😁
That train is going so fast
No
I was joking
Great video
Thanks 🙂
What on earth is that alarm! I would use that Yodalarm sitting there!
It's Schweizer Electronic's alarm for this crossing - which is loud and weird! The whole crossing was replaced with this new system so old lights and one alarm were removed, one alarm remained, but has been switched off.
Why is there an extra yodalarm on the pole?
That was used on the previous crossing system but was replaced with these new lights and alarms
Oh ok
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel for a moment I thought that could be an extra yodalarm just in case the other one dies out
Great video! :-)
Thanks! 😃
There is a 40 mph speed restriction here due to persistent crossing abuse. Notice each side it is 85mph
Oh really? This is one of the last crossings I'd expect crossing misuse at. Pity people can't follow a simple red and green light.
Wait i want go this level crossing
This is not actually user worked, this is one of the rare, On-The-Road, red and green crossings.
It's classed as a User Worked crossing officially. I've never heard of an "On The Road" crossing.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel , I said on the road *Red And Green* crossing
The signage 0:42 implies that the user operates the crossing, no? As a side note, the updated signage is nice to see, much clearer than the ordinary UWC signs.
New level crossing
crossing sound:bebabebabeba
The alarms sound so weird
Why Gates? Lights are enough!
Because animals may wander onto the tracks, and it acts as a barrier to stop drivers driving straight onto the crossing if they didn't see the lights.
I like that alarm except for the cutting out popping sound
Yeah, these alarms do seem to skip or pop a bit
I don’t get this, having the gates makes it more dangerous, just make it a crossing with only lights and a bell (siren) like a normal railway crossing.
It's always been a user worked crossing and would've been far cheaper installing these lights than converting it to a fully operational crossing with lights, barriers and alarms. I imagine this crossing is not used much, so wouldn't be very cost-effective.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Its a VAMoS (Overlay) system so is considerably cheaper to install than a normal interfaced MSL type, and Hundreds of thousands of pounds cheaper than a full crossing with barriers
That is a pretty weird speaker to play music.
It's not your usual warning alarm
AHHHHHHHHHHYHHHHHHHHHH MY EARS
Lol 😉
Compare with : [ 398 South Hinman Street , Columbus , Indiana ( IN47201 ) ] .... ( ? ) ......... DAVE™🛑
