Oh man! Getting a vasectomy was such a huge decision for me to make, and at the time there wasn't much info out there on the internet about peoples stories. I wish I could have found something like this at the time so thats why this is out there. I just want to help all those guys or gals looking for real life stories of what you could expect after getting snipped. Cheers!

Lost a lot of sensation, Chronic pain. was told it never really happened but latest Medical journal I pulled up at the time showed 1 in 7 men developed chronic pain.I cannot tell you how many times I told someone and heard "You too ? I thought I was the only one." Well almost two years after and two surgeries I am better but not 100 percent. Testosterone is supposed to drop 1 to 2 percent a year after age 30. Mine dropped 37 percent. I compiled so much medical evidence that my insurance company could not dispute that they actually paid for the reversal.

This is what I was referring to in my other comment. Sperm is supposed to be resorbed by the body, but in my clinical experience, men get all these blow-outs and the pain they experience seems to resemble blue balls. Oly difference is that blue balls can be resolved with masturbation, but here, the pain lingers after orgasm (logically, because the sperm can’t go anywhere)

I had one about 5 years and had some really bad side effects. A few days after the procedure I started getting some intense pain and during a follow up appointment, my urologist told me that I developed epididymal cysts. They felt like a growth the size of a pea and they developed on both testicles. Simply walking down stairs or sitting in a chair felt like I had been kicked. I had to get several nerve blocks (needles inserted into scrotum) and that was the most intense pain I have ever experienced. My recovery took close to two years before I could be active the way I was before the procedure. It sucked!

My husband did his 21 years ago. I was 19 he was 26. I regret having him do it. He was ill afterwards on the bathroom floor.
They say it doesn't affect your testosterone I completely disagree.
..why dose the urologist ( who does vasectomy reversals) check testosterone? Because he knows all his patients that had vasectomies have low testosterone... They are then put on medication ( clomid) when it's time for reversal to stimulate the brain.. why would you have to stimulate the brain? Because the vasectomy messes up the relay between the chemical from the brain to the testicles( thats my theory) bc the pharmacist told me "all the reversal patients are on that medication"... I think in the future more will be said about the side effects of vasectomies ..but for now we have everyone thinking they are doing something great..
Remember Your body has to keep reabsorbing sperm.. sorry thats not healthy at all... your brain sends a chemical for your testicles to produce testosterone and it messes up the relay system That's what I believe...AND we just had his reversed. He has regained feeling !he feels great ! and has a better quality of life completely! Hes gaining strength and working out.
Sorry!! But i would NEVER EVER PROMOTE A VASECTOMY TO MY SONS . they seen my face when there dads T was so low It would probably take yours off his life... Do you know testosterone helps heal the body? It dose!
If you're several years after a vasectomy go get your testosterone checked and see what it is !
I won't be surprised if it's extremely low.. AND The reversal surgery? is serious and looked absolutely awful afterwards. Tears! Literally!
For my poor husband!.. i regret telling him to get a vasectomy all those years ago.. I was so upset ..he he forgives me... The reversal was so awful looking Im talking like a victim of war how bad it looked
thankfully, we got the best Micro surgeon in our state todo the procedure......he had extream success.
People also promote TRT but that Will atrophy or testicles over time. Hormone therapy is a big money maker..you start on it and now you will be completely reliant on it. Again there are other options. Women need to get to know their Cycles educate themselves on their own health. Again you will never see me promote something that I believe affects a men's testosterone and can affect his feeling and can affect his quality of life period. I hope anyone reading this will really deeply consider.

Great Vid. Demonstrates the problem of the "soundproof clinic." Doctors frequently tell patients about possible side effects and downplay how often they occur. It's not entirely the doctor's fault. In this whole video, Nate never said he went back to the doctor or even phoned as time went by to let the doctor know of the pain, the lumps, or the loss of sensitivity in his penis. The same urologist is most likely telling his next patient that congestion in the testicles, loss of penile sensitivity, and pain in the testicles are very rare. When you think about it, why would a patient call the urologist one, two, or three years after his vasectomy just to tell them he's still numb on the underside of his penis, still has lumps on his testicles, and still can't stand his nuts played with? There isn't anything the urologist can do except tell the patient that these symptoms are very rare and "will resolve." The only thing that "resolves" is that the patient stops calling the doctor to inform the doctor of what is happening. This leads to the doctor continuing to downplay the potential side effects. The good news, more many of the post-vasectomy pain syndrome issues can be avoided with an "open" vasectomy versus a "closed" vasectomy. When the vas deferens (the tube that carries the sperm from the testicles to the seminal ducts) is cut during a vasectomy, both ends are sealed in a "closed" vasectomy. The logic is that if the end of the vas deferens near the seminal duct were to open back up, having both ends closed decreases the risk of vasectomy failure. However, sealing the end of the vas deferens on the testicle side causes a backup of sperm and congestion in the testicles. More and more urologists are offering "open" vasectomies where only the testicle side of the vas deferens is left open so that sperm can leave the testicle and enter the scrotum. The sperm is absorbed by the body from within the testicle. This eliminates the congestion in the testicle. The downside to an "open" vasectomy is that in the event that the sealing of the other end of the vas deferens was to open again, it is possible that a few stray sperm could enter the vas deferens and into the ejaculate. It's a mathematical improbability that this would lead to pregnancy but, not an impossibility. So, sealing both ends of the vas deferens (a "closed" vasectomy) has two effects, it decreases vasectomy failure (pregnancy risk) and increases congestion in the testicles - which patients greatly underreport to their urologist because, other than the on visit for the vasectomy, they have no relationship with that doctor.

I'm 28 with 4 kids and wanted no more, so I figured it was time, so I got mine done on September 10th and It's not nearly as bad as you're mind makes it to be, cause that's what I was dwelling on till the procedure was underway. I was freaking out like crazy, but once the doctor got started it was nothing, you feel some slight tugging and some pressure when its being done but other than that it doesn't hurt at all and if it does just tell the doctor and he or she will give you some more anesthetic. The procedure for me took about 10 to 15 mins, then after went home and relaxed on the recliner for a few days. Also If you know for sure that you want to get this done, I recommend getting some whitey tighties to support the boys and some frozen peas... other than that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I got mine 5 days ago. My side effects have been pain, mild bleeding (from stitches site), bruising, mild swelling, and it was painful to push out urine for about 4 days. Basically, my doctor cut mine a little higher and I had some moderate pain and bruising to the left and right of my penis that made it painful to start going pee for a few days. On day five the pain is mild just when I get up to move around after sitting for awhile. My best advice is to ice and rest for the full 3 days to avoid terrible side effects. Mine was done with a scalpel, under IV sedation, with the tubes having a section removed and burned shut. I was knocked out completely for the procedure because I didn’t want to be awake at all for it and my insurance covered it %100. I’m glad I got it done so far. It will be worth it in the long run!

I'm sure you can check pretty easily. Look at your scrotum. If you have a big scar, then a scalpel was used. No scar means no scalpel. The puncture is tiny, centrally located, and in the upper part of the scrotum if you had the 'surgery without scalpels' procedure.

Also experience pain in the groin, hip, lower back and gut. Not sure how related it is but I definitely regret having the procedure done and we would like to have it reversed to have more children. The glue injection he's taking about sounds a lot simpler, easier, faster and less risky. I had the sensitive balls issue also but just keep doing things that makes them feel uncomfortable and eventually it goes away. The wrestling with kids helps to get rid of it but I felt it bad then. It does go away and then you get over that fear of your balls being touched.

@Jzwellnesscoach do you have any side effect of low t? I heard that's a big problem

@@upsetstoassets It’s been 10 years to this date (2023) and I haven’t had any problems!! You can see other videos (currently) of me at 46yoa and I stay strong and in shape!! Of course I take care of my nutrition and Im an endurance athlete now (since 2019), I think exercise, good sleep, and good nutrition helps!! Stay Sedentary doesn’t help and lower your T a lot even without the surgery! 👍
