Would appreciate if you could provide your honest input on the how the Cinegrey compares with the Carl's Place Flexigrey from your other video and if you might have come any information into projector screens with an Ultra short throw projector? Thank you!
Well the cinegrey3d is an alr screen and the flexigrey is not. You'll get more light rejection with the elite screens. Carls place has a flexi alr that would be a better comparison. To me, it comes down to cost and if you have the ability/skill to diy the screen. If so, you'll save a ton of money going with carls place. Both have excellent screen materials
There's two ways to build a home theater sound system for a house: Using a lot of low power speakers including subwoofers spread in the room, or using a big and powerful but with less speakers that have a lot of headroom to be corrected with equalization. You did it the second one, congratulations man! This is a dream home theater for a lot of people, including me. I know that there's some persons that build a big and powerful system with lots of speakers, but they do this because the room is big, if the room is not big they are it doing wrong, is what we call an overkill.

Hey Kyle! Looks like a pretty nice screen. We really enjoy our ES screen! It's amazing how just painting your subs made such a huge difference in how all of your speakers look. Great job! 😀

Hello I want a clean look with the kit you have is there enough space for the power cord for the led kit to mount behind the screen? I have a outlet behind the screen
Not with this particular kit... I'd take a look at the Carls Place screen video I built. That kit would be easier to hide wires. This particular is too bulky and I don't particularly like the IR remote
On the carls place video? The cord runs through the wall to the closet behind the screen. Its powered in there. Theres maybe 1 inch behind the elite screens screen. Not much. 1.5 inches behind the carls place screen

Yea i didn't want to try comparing a diy vs manufactured product. Price difference is way too different and wouldn't be fair to ES lol. But the flexigray doesn't do as well with ambient light. Black levels are similar with the edge going to the ES. Flexigray looks better with bright images, no sparkles, but the ES pops a bit more with color because of the higher gain. Just gotta deal with the sparkle look in certain scenes
Life of Bliss yeah, I purchased the 135” 16/9 Carl’s ALR. It’s hard to compare with sample placards, but the ES ALR looked off too me. I couldn’t tell why, but side by side I liked the CP for some reason.

I loved the carls place screen especially for the price. I was sent the elite screen for a review, so cost wasn't an issue. I would go with another carls place screen if I were building another theater. Material is great and you save a ton of money. If you aren't as handy, the elite screen options are awesome too, just gotta pay for the convenience
I have a front throw projector, but no this screen would not work for an ust projector due to its reflection angle. Those take special screens to get an alr effect with an ust pj. This one is for front projection that reduces ambient light effects on the image
Great video! Question: my room is filled with white walls, so during nighttime my JVC image suffers BADLY. Would this screen give me better contrast at night? Cannot control room lights or paint the walls. Thank you!!!!
It might help a bit, but you're going to have similar results no matter what you do with white walls... maybe look into making some panels with black velvet or spandex to surround your screen since you can't paint the walls
@@Tips4TripsAV your problem will be all the light spilling out and reflecting off the walls, which will happen no matter which screen you have. Sounds like your projector is using keystone correction to fit on the screen and there's some light bleed from that. If you're able to use a zoom function on your projector vs keystone, or physically move the projector closer to get the image better fit on the screen, that will help

Sealed enclosures dig deeper than ported. Plus they don't need as large of enclosure. For a woofer this big, you don't need the extra output at a certain tuning frequency like with smaller woofers

If you have the ability to make a carls place screen, thats what I would do. Just depends on what you want to do, spend more time or more money. Both screens looked great with their corresponding materials. The carls place screen is back in the room now

Quite expensive screen. Do you have a side by side comparison between the screen and your wall behind it? What if you just black taped the edges of the image on the wall?
Walls will never be as good as a screen to be honest. Not as uniform and the paint vs material just isn't going to give as bright or accurate as image. Does it work? Sure. Did it for about 6 months. You'll want a screen though for long term
@@LifeofBliss I agree when there is ambient light, but when you watch a movie at night and turn off the lights, you just cannot tell the difference. In my experiences you do not notice the small imperfections on the wall at all when watching it in a dark room, and to me only movies matter quality wise. So of course it depends on your preferences, but I was just thinking if it was worth paying thousands of dollars for a barely noticable improvement, unless you use it with ambient light most of the time. Your wall looked very similar to the screen, that is why I asked. I just black taped the edges on the wall recently, and it already made it look like a proper screen at night. I have a 97" screen too, and the only difference I noticed was because of its smaller size, and the black edges. But anyway, enjoy it.
Thanks DD! The ES definitely blocks out ambient light better than the flexigrey. Blacks are deeper, but the bright images looks better on the flexigrey. No sparkles on that one. If I didn't have the ability to black out my basment like I do, I'd go with ALR all day long
@@LifeofBliss I'm going to order the flexi grey from carls place and build my own frame like you did. I just want better blacks. Just not ready to upgrade my projector yet. The only thing is bad about my projector is black levels
Sounds like you are in the same boat as me. I think you'll like the flexigrey. And if you're able to build your own frame, the price savings is pretty significant.
Its very similar to the carls ALR. The flexigray i have doesn't have the sparkles, but doesn't have the pop in color or ambient light rejection like the ES does.
Depends on what your spending on an overhead projector. The quality in a UST with an ALR screen you'd pay 3 times as much for an overhead. I don't have a spot for one so went with UST. I watched your sub and speaker build and stopped Watching. This vid randomly popped up. I'll check out your ust video.
Yea the ust makes it easy to add a projector almost anywhere. They definitely have their place. And budget will have a lot to do with picture quality. No ust setup can rival the nz line from jvc from my experience. Again, budget will determine your experience
I don't really think it will take 3x the budget for a standard projector to best a ust. Epsons new projector is amazing and isn't in the super high end of pricing. Ust projectors aren't cheap either. I look at them as another option for consumers that don't have the ability to add a traditional projector. I would argue your passing a premium for a ust and alr screen to match what a cheaper long throw projector can do
@@LifeofBliss good to know man. Loved these videos. Was the material fairly easy to stretch and staple to the frame? Should I be nervous at all? Is it fairly forgiving? I saw your video on it
Its not hard at all. Just stretch it enough to make it fairly tight and staple out towards the corners. You can even pull up staples and redo an area if need be. Pretty forgiving stuff
Quick version: rejects light much better, deeper blacks, slightly brighter image. Also costs more, and the bright images sparkle where the flexigray does not.
Thanks for the explanation. I bought the FlexiGrey based on your previous video. Overall im pretty happy with it but I think it also sparkles during bright scenes. It might have something to do with how bright the projector is.
This was just for review purposes. The diy screen will be going back up. Its a nice screen, but you'll save money if going the diy route if you're able
Great video info... Can Anyone guide me to make a choice of buying my first screen to my first projector please... I bought the epson Ls 300 is an ultra short throw and it has 3600 lumens. I've been doing a lot of re-search but there's a lot of different screens that I just don't know which screen would be the most suitable or best picture for this projector. Man, that looks so good. Awesome job on the whole project. :)
I likewise have a basement entertainment setup, but your 3x 24"'s make my couple 18" vbss units look small. lol
If DIYSG ever gets them in stock.. I really wanna grab some 1099's. My sad little c-20 center channel just doesn't cut it.
Those 1099s rock, I've heard a few setups with those in there. Appreciate it John!
I like your profile pic that anime always got a soft spot in my heart
Hang on a second. I thought that their AEON series were meant for Short/Ultra short throws only. Is that not the case?
Nope, Aeon is just the frame design and border design. You can get the Aeon in most of the screen products they have to offer
Screen looks great!
Thanks man! I gotta see those XPRs rockin! Those are massive dude
Whats up man? Great video! How does this compare to the flexi grey from carls place that you had?
How does it compare to the Carl’s place screen?
Its very similar to the carls ALR. The flexigray i have doesn't have the sparkles, but doesn't have the pop in color or ambient light rejection like the ES does.
@@LifeofBliss but is the elite worth the extra $? It's almost 5-6x the cost?!
Why havent you went to a UST yet?
Have had one for 2 years. Videos on the channel. They are ok in a pinch, traditional projectors are better imo
I would argue your passing a premium for a ust and alr screen to match what a cheaper long throw projector can do
is it worth $1000 over the typical white Elite screen?
This 120" screen without leds is under $700... its great if you have any sort of light in the room
What is your Link?? You sale ??
What exactly are you looking for?
What happened to the DIY screen?
Its in the back room 😉 it'll be coming back
wait does he like it better than Carls Flexigray? It's like 5x the price...worth it?
Thats the battle, time vs money. And I have a lot of time and like my money. I will be keeping the carls place screen down here
@@LifeofBliss good to know man.
Is this thin bezel 1 inches
Not even that much, maybe 1/2 inch
@@LifeofBliss thanks
looks great...
How does it compare to FlexiGrey?
Quick version: rejects light much better, deeper blacks, slightly brighter image. Also costs more, and the bright images sparkle where the flexigray does not.
Thanks for the explanation. I bought the FlexiGrey based on your previous video. Overall im pretty happy with it but I think it also sparkles during bright scenes. It might have something to do with how bright the projector is.
why did you ditch you DIY screen? you have put me in a dilemma regarding DIY screen vs elite screen
This was just for review purposes. The diy screen will be going back up. Its a nice screen, but you'll save money if going the diy route if you're able
Super
Were are Tweeters
Great video info... Can Anyone guide me to make a choice of buying my first screen to my first projector please... I bought the epson Ls 300 is an ultra short throw and it has 3600 lumens. I still don't have it will arrive Jan 24. I've been doing a lot of re-search but there's a lot of different screens that I just don't know which screen would be the most suitable or best picture for this projector. There are a lot of good videos out there but might not be the one I need. If someone with knowledge can feed me back his or hers best experience with screens so I can do a one time buy and at least be happy with the picture projecting, it will be awsome I will appreciate a lot...Thank you in adavance.
I painted my wall white.
Am I the only one who misses the mustache?
Quite the mall cop gig I had, figured I didn't need it anymore
The installation looks odious. I think silver ticket has a much better installation process, and they have an ALR option as well, and cheaper.
Those subs would prolly drop that screen one day😂😂
ALR and CLR are completely different things
You placed the leds in the right spot the other video the dude placed it on the black outer frame cover😅🤣😂 I dont think he realizes that any led even on a t.v. is for background light not for edges where you can actually see the strip😅🤣😂
Ah, yea thats not the right place... I'm big on higing the actual LEDs where ever I put them. Don't wanna see the actual LEDs!
@@LifeofBliss I could not believe what they want for a set of led thats a crime. I looked into black screens I nearly passed out from the price
@@sam6stringestrada31 check out Milight products on amazon. Thats what I did my bar and diy screen with. Its fairly inexpensive but the control you have is great for the money. Not overpriced like some other companies and its over Bluetooth or wifi so no direct line of sight needed like the IR remote setup elite screens has
The screen is cool but the smell is horrible. I highly doubt it’s good to inhale that crap. I put it in my bedroom like an idiot thinking the smell would go away with the widows open but to no avail. It’s been days now and It’s still strong. Very disappointed to say the least. I’ll will try to update this when the smell goes away or when I get cancer. Not funny I know but in all seriousness I really don’t think this is safe or at least until the smell goes away.
Dammnnnnn those are some SEXY ass subsss
:D
great video, but the product is rubbish.
Thanks for the great video, I was thinking of buying this screen until I saw the despicable price of the LED strip.... How can they possibly justify selling a junk Chinese LED strip for that price?
I bought a more capable kit for $15 6 years ago, nowadays you get Alexa / google home compatible kits for $15. As a 'capitalist pig' I love business and profit but this is just shocking. It makes me wonder if the screen is worth 10x less than the asking price like lights are.
Sorry, I don't like to rant and really enjoyed the video and the hard work that went into it, thank you :)
Lol the screen is a good one, but you're right about the LEDs. I have a milight setup through the rest of my basement that I would recommend over this one. They are a novelty though, no real use besides the looks. I'd save the money... thanks Tony!
