Just a little bit of tension to get the wrinkles out. You don't need to really feel like youre stretching the material much unless you are trying to get some wrinkles out in the corners.
Just a quick tip for anyone trying to get rid of those distracting bands of light on the floor and ceiling (as seen at 11:59), tape the LED strips facing the wall, not out. You will still get the ambient light just around the screen, but the bands of light will be gone.
Boom! I really like how you can make your LED any color. Mine is blur only. Rarely turn them on but it’s cool every once in awhile. Tell your son I’m sorry and keep up the great work.
@@LifeofBliss You guys should look into Hyperion. That is cool. It is a bit of work and you need a Raspberry PI3. I made one for a 65" TV, but I haven't installed it yet. Working on my garage. ruclips.net/video/GkNT5mYajKo/видео.html

Awesome build. To be honest I was expecting something extremely over the top like your other videos, like a screen that would pour your drinks haha. Actually I was hoping this was one of those ambient reactive backlights. I have yet to see an affordable version though. To explain its basically the same leds but they turn different colors at the same time to match the image on screen so in the ocean at nights the lit blue water on bottom is blue leds on bottom white led for the boat on the sides and black night is led off on top. Awesome but so far the cheapest is twice your overall cost just for the led and controller.
Thanks Philip, my wife said the I was "so extra" or something like that when she realized the lights were synced up on the same system as the bar lol. I'll have to let her know I could have gone more extra 😂 Those setups are cool, but like you said, costly... These lights were still about $100 to put behind the screen, I wouldn't want to spend too much more on something like that
I made an ambilight kit for the back of my 4k tv that runs off an Arduino Uno and it works perfect. Not expensive either, just individually addressable led strips, power supply and the Arduino, that's it! I'm currently working on my own projector setup but with a 90" roll up screen so no fancy led's. I'm using paper floor lamps with Philips Hue bulbs instead for the ambient lighting. I deleted my RUclips channel a while back so i don't have a video of it running anymore :(
Great vid...I’m completely comfortable building the frame but a bit apprehensive about stretching the material evenly, without wrinkles. How hard is it to do?
Pretty easy really. Just start by throwing 4 or 5 staples in the middle of each side, then pull towards you and slightly towards the corners as you work your way around. I've never done it before this, its not bad
So it's not actually LED backlit, it's just some side LED's aka Philips Ambilight or whatever it's called, I wonder though, if you could actually install full-fat LED backlighting using the new cutting edge high refresh rate RGB LED surround lighting kits available, then again it might end up washing out the blacks and contrast.
I used some base board trim around the edges to make it look like a giant picture frame. My chromecast is hooked up to my projector so its always showing a different picture.
what a horrible idea you are never ever allow to place led strip lights on WOOD bad idea your led lights will get super hot and stop working PLUS in time will become unstuck from the wood and fall off *PRO-TIP: LED Strip lights MUST be placed on a recommended LED Aluminum Channel*
Lol, you must not know much about LEDs... or didn't watch the video at all. Like when I glued the LEDs to the wood? Still working 3 years later 🤔 it's OK, you're learning I guess
Yeh, I understand it's a personal preference. Such a great informative build. Think without the boarder it blends into the wall and is not so intrusive. Just back lighting my TV but only a small 65" LCD but you have given me real inspiration, thanks.
My projector has a lens memory function for different aspect ratios. For anything 2.35 or 2.4, I have it lower the image so it's more eye level and only a border on the top of the screen
What if i can buy a commercial one for about 150 though? Any risk that they would be worse :S? I think I have seen some in my country. 150-250 depending on brand and if they are retractable or not.
Nothing wrong with buying one, this just let's you make one specific for your space. I'm sure it would be fine as long as you went with a well known reputable company
Putting an LED strip behind your screen does not equal LED backlight. An backlight is what all normal screens have to light them up. Not even remotely the same as a light behind the TV.
I don't mean to be a dick, but I can't help myself. Wouldn't it be more balanced and stable if you made the two french cleat mounts the full width of the screen on the upper and lower halfs? Then you won't get any "counter warping" from uneven pulling.
Sure you could do that. It'd just take a little more wood. It's plenty stable with only the middle cleat if there is no warping though. It's only 20 pounds at most. This is just my method, it can be tweaked to your liking. Now stop being a dick Brian... 😉
Like I said, not something to use during movies. Sporting events or something less important, it's fun. Helps light the room up just enough to see what you're doing making drinks or getting food.

You can buy kits for thday sort of thing, but it would cost 2-4x what I spent. I usually don't have them on during a movie to be honest, the are kind of distracting
Eh I'm not a huge fan of those personally. Its a cool trick, but not for actually watching a movie. Those controllers are pretty expensive from what I've seen

Bro what is ur screen aspect ratio?
16:9 brotini 🤘
who else thought Paul blart
Hello. What is the black tape that was attached to the corners at minute 10:29 used for?
To help with any light bleeding once the screen size was adjusted for the screen.
@@LifeofBliss Thank you
What ratio did you use
16:9 screen
Computing length and width only knowing the diagonal length and aspect ratio made me feel learning the Pythagorean theorem was not a waste. Well, I didn't know about that online calculator back then.
A2 + B2 = See.... online calculator 😂
Other than the LED lights it looks excellent.
money money money :)
Is it possible to have the colors of the led lighting dynamic? That it changes color in conjunction with the image?
You can buy kits for thday sort of thing, but it would cost 2-4x what I spent. I usually don't have them on during a movie to be honest, the are kind of distracting
Excellent! Thanks for sharing. I wish I had your tools and was that handy :) Looks amazing!
great screen. was hoping you were going to show integrated LEDs off the image on the screen instead of just a loop about.
Eh I'm not a huge fan of those personally. Its a cool trick, but not for actually watching a movie. Those controllers are pretty expensive from what I've seen
If you can read this, you don't need glasses.
🤓
Well that's not good advice!
People who have vision difficulties and ideally need glasses/contacts, aren't always like, nigh completely blind.
Also some people are near-sighted.
Exactly what I needed, thanks!
