    it feels like it was yesterday when I first watched this video, and now I'm coming back and watching it again and it all feels so different, looking at the same things but with a diff skill level and better understanding, I can see so many things I missed back then, feels almost like I'm rediscovering my roots lol but really, I hadn't realized almost 6 years had passed :0 I miss Dave content

    WOW thank you for this video, I had no idea how I could do this and was twisting myself into a knot trying to figure it out. The grayscale to overlay/multiply color to develop the color spectrum and staying true to warm/cool light is now clear for me because of your video. THANK YOU!!!!!!

    Love the tutorial Dave! Also a tip on the bracket keys, you can easily change the brush size by holding Alt while dragging Right Click to scale brush sizes more fluidly! I usually make a custom key on Wacom that does Modifier Alt + RClick into one button (I replace Middle Click in Photoshop) so I can change sizes much much faster.

Just recently came across your channel and I must say your vids are just fantastic to learn from and they are a joy to watch for someone like myself. This REALLY helped me thank you! Pieces always make more sense to me when I work in greyscale first, but I’ve been avoiding it because every time I add color I’ve only been using one layer. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m like- wth this looks really bad... Lol I’m excited to experiment with multiple additive layers and layer modes now >:D I don’t have photoshop unfortunately but I do have Procreate which should work fine. 😊

    !!! i had spent my whole life doing digital art and I went to art school for a couple of years and I had to learn how to do oil painting. I was like... I don't even know how to mix a colour, i don't know anything about brushes.... but after a while i started to get it. colour mixing and matching, not blending straight onto the canvas but trying to colour match and put it down in blocks of colour before doing more details and layers. and it's really helped me with my digital art. it's like my digital art background helped with oils, and then my oils helped with my digital. I definitely take so many techniques from my oil paintings and put them into my digital :P so I'd say to you - if you want to play around and have fun, try doing some oil painting sometime!!! you might surprise yourself :P

    • @DaveGreco
      @DaveGreco  6 лет назад

      Thats awesome! I actually grew up.. and even in artschool, oil painted. Oil was my go to medium before moving into digital art.. if I ever paint traditionaly these days its with oil. by far my favorite! It would be great to spend more time in it for sure. thanks for checking out the content!

    Hey, man. Just heard that you're constantly using your fingers on the Brush size keys ( [ and [ ), there's a shortcut in Photoshop that a real small group of people know that helps you increase and decrease the brush size - Hold ALT + right button mouse and drag left to right for size and up and down for softness. I think that you might find that useful

    What makes a concept art different than "art"? I realize it's not "finished art"but in many cases, concept art looks finished and has a specific feel or style on it's own (like finished art). I guess that's why I ask the question.

    Thank you so much for your videos. I'm a new sub. I'm excited to try out this technique, you make it so clear to understand. I noticed you often mention jumping around the piece, so everything stays consistent. I'm curious, do you make a new layer everytime you add details? Like, do you ever go back to a previous layer and work on it? Do you designate layers for certain techniques? Do you ever merge layers that use similar techniques? I know I'm super late to comment, but if anyone can answer this for me? Thank you!

  • @GryphonDes

    First off -- this is a great series, I absolutely adore peering into the process of other artists! But I gott ask... you're on a Cintiq... is it the large monitor sized one with no express keys?? Just wondering since when I work on my 13HD out on the road, I use the express keys for Brush sizing, undos, and the main mods Alt/Shift/Control :) esp useful in 3D-Coat, Sketchbook and of course Photoshop :)

    • @DaveGreco
      @DaveGreco  6 лет назад

      The one I use at home does have the express keys.. and I used to use the express keys for alot of things.. including making new layers.. fav brushes etc. Lately though I don't even use them.. Mostly because my work cintiq doesn't have them (its one of the newer ones).. so I am used to not using it at this point. Def worth using though if you're used to it! Thanks for checking out the channel! :)

    Hi Dave! Sorry for bothering, but I didn't found the Plastic Wrap Brush you use to block colors (i.e. in the B&W Stage) and I couldn't find them online. I noticed they are in another folder within your brushes (the name is sDaniele_core_01, I believe). Is it possible to make this brush avaliable too? Thanks and I love your work! Learning really much with your channel!

    • @DaveGreco
      @DaveGreco  6 лет назад

      Hey there! Working on getting approval to share that brush since It's not mine (given by a co-worker).. and I need to make sure it's not a professional brush from another artist that may be possibly be selling it you know? If I do make it avail I'll def bring it up in a future video.

    Hey Dave! I struggle to do any sort of digital drawing or painting without being heavily reliant on line art. While I like the look of a lot of work that is very line-heavy, I don't want to have a comic book style of art. Do you have any tips for going from line art to a finished painting with no lines?
