You're so sweet and have such an expensive book taste, i almost read all of the ones you've read i really like your channel, special personality and diffident character. I'm delighted to be able to see your videos (and you as well) Keep posting
Been checking youtube every day for your update 😁 Also reading Middlemarch. Finding it challenging, but I’m slowly getting used to her style and the last few chapters got easier to read.
Thanks! I’m happy to hear it’s getting easier for you! I’ve been having some of the same issues, but like you, I’m starting to find my footing I think!
Thanks for reviewing Adams vs Jefferson. I've had my eye on it for sometime If you like Ferlings work and interested in the American Revolution, I recommend his Almost a Miracle.
I've never read Middlemarch, though I have a copy of it on my shelves from a local used bookstore, and I've heard parts of it on audiobook from all the times my father played books on tape in the car and around the house. Since I write so many deliberate doorstoppers with large ensemble casts myself, I hope it'll be right up my alley.
Sounds like some great books for you recently, Micah! Patriots sounds like excellent narrative nonfiction. I really enjoyed Middlemarch (and was surprised how much I enjoyed it!). It took me a full month to read it for a book group, but I liked the clever writing, and how her wit was still relevant today. Enjoy your books!
Hi, Micah! I'm glad someone out there in Book Tube Land is reading Kenneth Roberts. I read Arundel and Northwest Passage a long time ago, and really liked them. Northwest Passage especially has always been one of my favorites! I have another novel of his to read called Oliver Wiswell, which is the American Revolution from the point of view of the British loyalists. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks, Rick! I appreciate it. That novel sounds really interesting. I’ve been enjoying his works as I really haven’t read much historical fiction about the American Revolution at all.
Awesome video Micah! We don’t get taught about the American revolution at all in the uk at school so looks like that would be a great book to learn from!
PATRIOTS book is currently $2.99 for Kindle, so I went and grabbed it. Thanks for the rec! Currently reading Shōgun, trying to get ahead of the upcoming FX show. So far this books is brutal, can't wait to see this show!
A bell rang in my head when I heard the name A.J. Langguth; not a common name. I went to my phone and googled " Jesus Christs Langguth ", and sure enough, he was the author of the oddball and sometimes very funny book, " Jesus Christs ", which I read many decades ago. It's a small book that imagines the New Testament stories playing out in many different times and places. I had no idea that Langguth grew up to be a fine historian.
I think we all need a channel called "Steve recommends" eh. Thanks for more interesting books to add to my pile Micah, not American but the history always intrigues me from its early beginnings.
Nice video Micah! I recently discovered a history book at my local bookstore titled We Two: Victoria and Albert: Rulers, Partners, Rivals by Gill have you heard of it?

Its really nice to see someone my age giving the classics the love and attention they deserve.
Thank you! I don’t see them talked about as often as I wish they were, so I’m trying to do my part! 🙂
@@MicahCummins You do an awesome job!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
@@MicahCummins You're welcome.😁

Terrific video, Micah. I’m joining in on the Middlemarch readalong too. It’s a re-read for me of a beloved novel. Thanks, Micah!
Thank you, Pat! I’m excited you’ll be joining us for Middlemarch!

Thank you for the recommendation, Frank! I’ve put Almost a Miracle in my TBR.

That a wonderful memory to have! And based on your own writing, I am sure you will love it!

It definitely would be! I really enjoyed the style and the detailed, but readable nature.
@@MicahCummins I’d love to learn more about it. I guess we aren’t taught it because we were the bad guys. And they don’t like to admit to that

Thanks for the tip
Thanks for letting me know! I tried to read Shogun and had trouble getting into it, but maybe with the show out, I’ll give it another try.

Ah, interesting! I had seen that book on GoodReads.

A Steve recommends channel is a fabulous idea! And one that I could really see taking off!
Please do a review on middle March after you finish!
Okay!! I’ll try to see what I can do.
Have you read Founding Mothers by Cokie Roberts? I enjoyed it. Seems like it would pair well with Patriots
I haven’t read it, no. But I did add it to my TBR, and hope to get to it sometime soon!
Interesting books. I’ve done well by Steve recommendations.
Thank you, David! He is truly an incredible resource for endless book recommendations!
Nice video Micah! I recently discovered a history book at my local bookstore titled We Two: Victoria and Albert: Rulers, Partners, Rivals by Gill have you heard of it?
Thanks, Todd! Oh, yes! I have read that, and really enjoyed it!
Hi Micah! I did ‘The Booktube Oldie Tag,’ created by Monica Kim. I tagged you in it if you want to do the tag. It’s airing on Tuesday.
Thank you, Jess! That’s very kind of you to think of me. I haven’t done a tag in a long time, I think I’ll give it a go!
