AlisonChains13 I can’t imagine many people would be cool with “Jordan punched a hole in my apartment wall and left” but Jarvis’ level of chill about it is admirable. It really is sweet and I now aspire to be this kind of friend
I was gonna say the same thing, Jarvis is a true friend, plus when you get a hole in the wall you can hide stuff in there and fix it and later when you're replacing your drywall you can find all the stuff you hid in there like a little time capsule.

@@eminempreg you can sign up for a visa form and fill one out online (as long as you dont click submit you're good) but yeah it asks everything from whether you plan on committing to genocide to whether you've ever sold organs on the black market

It asks you some crazy shit, I remember being in a customs office going to the U.S from Canada ans my jaw was on the floor.
They then took my photo, and took my finger prints.. I felt like a criminal for a a two night stay 🤣🤣
P.s I think they ask you so if you end up doing any of those things, or have in the past they gotcha for a criminal offense of falsifying visa document's.

Jarvis's ADHD sounds like my ADHD. Multiple times a week I'm like "Why do I feel absolutely terrible? All I did was not take my medicine or drink any fluids for several hours"

“I’ve had no motivation and I’ve not been productive in like a week. What’s wrong with me? Oh yeah, I’m supposed to take meds that help with that. Oh, now I instantly can motivate myself.” That’s me.
I don't have ADHD, but I have started taking St. John's Wart every time I notice I'm feeling depressed and I swear it's the most 1=1 situation I've ever witnessed. Don't take them if you're on antidepressants, they are actually effective and could interfere with prescribed medication. But for me, it really is as simply as taking my "happy pills" every time I feel like a hangry, sleepy toddler and the feeling goes away pretty quickly. It's usually just hormones making my body sad for no reason (I've started keeping track and take them a couple days a month now).
Now if only I could figure out what the obvious solution is for all my other problems...

Very true about the "finding the right fit" when it comes to therapy, the first therapist I had when I was 11 was awful and at one point before I'd even left the room she started spraying down the chair I'd been sitting in with air freshener cause "she's an ex smoker and the smell of smoke bothers her", as if I wasn't a literal child who she knew was stuck in a 21 foot trailer with smokers. To say the least I didn't want to go to therapy again, but a few years later I did and the next therapist I got has been absolutely amazing, we've been seeing each other for over 5 years now.

Definitely! I am still working on convincing myself that therapy can be helpful (thanks to personal stories like this video) since my first experience with therapy was just kind of terrible....it was expensive during a time when I was short on money and I really got the sense that my therapist was not listening and could care less about what I was saying. She also had a habit of staring at me and slightly nodding for a good ~30 seconds after I would finish talking that ended up causing me to feel anxious, despite seeking therapy for anxiety--I always left feeling awkward/uncomfortable and like it was a huge waste. But I am sure there is a therapist out there I will vibe with one day!
I have ADHD and rejection sensitivity is so real and not talked about enough (to the point where I was diagnosed at 8 and only discovered rejection sensitivity a couple months ago at 22).
Thanks for sharing Jarvis, whenever you bring up your experience with ADHD I feel seen and understood

I wanted to add that bad therapists exist, and it’s perfectly okay to leave a therapist to find a new one. Not every therapist is a perfect fit for everybody, and it’s totally normal to therapist hop for a little while until you find a good match.
Kurtis is an amazing person and is very wholesome and very good at making me feel better about the Netherlands and I just want him to know what he's doing it is important for me and I want him to have a good life and he is very good and very well I'm sure that he is going to have a good time -Message made by my phones automatic word thing

26:34 - 27:11 made me scream YES! at my screen. As a psychology student it is amazing to hear you say that. People often see the problem as apart of themselves and their identity, instead of "I am someone who experiences a nervous reaction to a situation" it is "I am an anxious person". The moment of growth you described is so empowering, your counsellor nailed empathetic confrontation to faciliate your new understanding that you have changed over time.
"The person is not the problem; the problem is the problem".

At my last therapy session my therapist told me I was healthy, and I almost cried I was so happy. I'm gonna keep going because of that outlet, like Jarvis said, but honestly it was the best feeling in the world to have my mental health validated by a professional.

I remember losing my mind when my visa first got rejected due to no fault of my own. Worked out in the end, but being told it was denied was the worst news of my life.
My lil brother, after we saw home alone, took a strip of nail gun nails and put them across the stairs. Stepping on nails sucks, especially when it's a bunch of them held together with metal wires.

Jarvis talking about therapy literally got me crying in the club,,,,, I've been going to therapy since I was 12 and I relate HARD to all of it. It's really nice to hear a youtuber I rlly look up to talk about therapy, it makes it feel like it's a normal thing? I don't really know how to explain it fhjksfhs. I struggled with the fact that I was seeing a therapist all throughout middle school, because I thought if someone knew they'd think that I was crazy. I really wish I could have listened to this then, or have had idols like you guys to make me feel like less of a freak. Anyway, what I want to say is thank you for openly talking about therapy
i really admire how honest jarvis is about his experience with therapy and mental health. i know its the point of the podcast, but its just really nice to see men talking about their mental health and recovery. its like, the definition of nontoxic masculinity, and i really appreciate that.

I literally had the same experience, where I had a super cool therapist who was a PhD student but then she had to graduate and I couldn’t find another therapist for like a year
Been seeing this psychologist every week for 2 years now but she's quitting so last session is next week. I'm getting 2 new contacts at the clinic asap and fortunately for me I live in a country with free and accessible healthcare so I don't think there's gonna be too bad of a transition. But my psychologist now is the best I've met so far, it's been years and years with: ok/fine, meh, wtf and I'll report you. Both of us got very sad when she told me, I was crying and even she had tears in her eyes. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about it but man this sucks... Glad I'm sufficiently stable and symptom free nowadays, this could have been a disaster a year ago 😅

Also look into different types of therapy- for example when I was in high school and needed immediate coping exercises to do in the moment I did CBT. But now that I’m in a better place I’ve been doing psychotherapy and we still do coping skills but yeah. Also highly recommend therapy if you have the access to it
