Read up on position snipe at El Alamein. VC's were won. One bloody battle.
I think the preliminary bombardment would have helped, as would more artillery support, I suggest replacing the 20mm with a medium mortar or a howitzer with a spotter. I think you should have concentrated the Italian tanks and infantry for an assault at one section of the defenses. The tanks should attempt to overrun the guns, while the infantry supports them as best, they can. Once inside the depression and behind the entrenchments, the Brits should be mor vulnerable. Of course, execution is harder than planning. The game was enjoyable as something different.

If your close up to the depression it does not give cover to the troops on the other side of it being shot from the back. You can also drive over they. Still get the fox hole cover
Where does it say that Sherman's and the Semovente use a 2 inch template for HE? Cheers for the great content over the years, absolutely love it. 👍

(75mm) HE (2")
Instead of using the 1" template, use the 2" template (75mm gun tanks)
There were rather a lot of rules to remember there! And yes, it seemed tough going for the Italians.

Artillery don’t get small team when down men.
The difficulty of hitting the British really does seem to make this a bit of a 0 sum scenario for the Italians
I'm not a fan of defensive scenarios. Cool terrain/weather rules.
One question what ist the scale of thr Tanks? Are they the Warlord scale?
