People underestimate the Italians, they have such a poor reputation through the game, makes every victory so much sweeter 🇮🇹 🇮🇹 Especially against scholar 😊
SPOILERS BELOW Those Italians were lethal (and beautifully painted). I do feel like the British had a bit of an uphill battle trying to cross that open ground between the woods and the bunker, while the Italians could follow the walls around the road all the way to the bunker. However it did make for quite a thematic battle, with the British making a heroic dash against blistering enemy fire. A good game as always. 39:38 Spotters can never assault or fire against enemy units (pg 71) Speaking of mixing it up and taking the same units in different formats, for your classic veteran assault squads have you considered giving the SMG to a normal soldier instead of the NCO? This way if your opponent gets exceptional damage and takes out your NCO you still have that close combat threat from the SMG. It makes it a more difficult choice for your opponent on who to kill. The only downside is it's harder to tell at a glance who your NCO is, I give my NCOs different hats, but that's not really an option for European theatre British. Alternatively you can make the NCO the guy waving his arm/pointing or paint chevrons on his arm.
Hiya mate, yeah you're dead right, the board certainly had a better side to set up on! We like to make unbalanced boards here and there because it makes for more fun and epic moments....I just keep getting the bad side at the moment! 😅 With my brits on the channel I play them kinda comp lite; the faction is powerful enough that I can take smgs on NCOs because it's the right historic format, without losing out too much on performance, it's also why I rarely take less than 8 man squads (in this list overview I say in my mind the 5 man squads are one section split into fire teams for example), it's a purely self imposed handicap! I think with them being my home faction it's harder to let go and build the list with only gameplay in mind! I will crack out a brutal brits list for you in the next couple of weeks and we can see how that goes 💪 Haha darn another really basic rule, I don't know what is wrong with me the last couple of videos!
Hey (Will here) thanks for the kind comments on the paint job. I had to do that in 2 days it's not Finnished yet need the do the straps and tufts etc to Finnish them off. I have painted 2 other armies aswell since Xmas so they will be making an appearance shortly I imagine. I can see il duche driving past in his gifted BMW now with some tunes blasting basking in Italian glory hahaha

Good game, nice to see some other armies for a change! Special rules do spice things up. Those Italians were quite bright in their colors, especially their bases. Reminds me my old days in 40K when my camo scouts blended so well into the greenery that I forgot they were there. Only when we were clearing the table out we found them. Things went south for the brits this time. Really like the dakka-tank, 20 shots is just brutal.
Hey man glad you're enjoying the new stuff! Yeah Will did a great job on those italians, he used the army painter brand's version of contrast paints and it really made the camo look great! Haha that happens all the time to me, I'll be packing away and a spotter or something similar will just fall out of a piece of terrain that he's been snuck into!

Getting a 25mm 72K light autocannon for my Soviets printed up. Still need to find a dual Type 2 20mm auto for my Japanese and a M-1 90mm for my Americans and my anti air should be all covered for my 4 nations I have. The Flak 43 Zwilling is down right nasty to anything that is in the open even medium tanks have to take heed if they expose a side to it within 36 inches. I'm liking autocannons more and more the longer I am playing this game. Reason I want the 90mm for the US is so as to be able to take something other than a tank slot vehicle with it M-36 or M-36 B1.
The 4 light aurocannons is absolutely brutal, Will has one and it can easily eat 4 dice in a game! Yeah couldn't agree more man, I just love an auto cannon these days, the more I've played the more useful they've become, they are so anti meta it's crazy haha! I love my crusader for the brits but 2 light ACs is really the minimum useful amount in my opinion as it needs lots of shots for armour and its main target is infantry, the heavy AC wants to target light vehicles as it's still a 1" +1 HE with less shots, but the range makes it so darn good and 2 shots at the same pen as a medium howitzer.
It’s certainly something we shall be working up towards over the next couple of weeks as I continue building out the army. If you have any suggestions or particular units you would like the Italians to run please let us know and we will try get them on the table as quickly as possible for you 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
