The mezzanine floor was an ingenious & elegant touch. Also, piling on additional peace of mind & tranquility by flooding the cabins with light won't hurt sales either.
    Good job.

Looks light and airy. A perfect motor yacht for cruising with family and friends. I would certainly fit a stabiliser on her though. Perhaps a small sea keeper gyro. You don’t always get flat calm, even in the med, where I am sure she would be right at home. Thank you for a great tour. 👍

    • @paulnorman8274
      @paulnorman8274 6 месяцев назад +2

It's too flat and beamy for a stabiliser to have much use. It would be almost like trying to fit a Seakeeper to a catamaran.
The low centre of gravity, huge beam, flattish bottom and hard chines, massively dampen the sort of poorly dampened inertial roll movement that a stabiliser is designed to stabilise. While also allowing the sea surface sufficient leverage on the hull, to overpower near any possible stabiliser setup.
In general: If you want; or are OK with needing; a stabiliser: Get a lower stability, rounder, narrower deeper hull. For this boat's kind of hull, OTOH, stabilisers are neither needed nor able to do much good.

Great review, very different boat, this.
Couple of things i don't understand, though.
They've put a hull side gate right next to the helm, but no helm door to use it from? What's the point?
Concerned at visibility on evening passages too with that helm stuck so far back, behind the galley and in the middle of the lounge...

Hey Alex, good to see you in France the other day. I'm surfing in Bali right now and this Omikron would be an interesting boat for this part of the world. She has the range to be useful and that aft deck with board storage and extra shade could be interesting. Keep up the good work.

Not having the compass mounted straight on with the wheel is an easy oversight to make but still a glaring one. Not having a destroyer Wheel prerty weak for "sailing inspired" as well. Huge beam true dat and that's a great thing...provided a sea keeper gyrostabilized can be included probably more. Obviously the biggest change from sail to power is a powerboat has reverse so first point of interest will be the transom to note any changes there due to wave action go backwards😊

Very nice walkthrough of this boat. Pressed like.
If I would give some constructive critisism of it, I would try to have the specs in there somewhere.
Also, I think the title is, maybe not click bait, but misleading. This is not a long range cruiser, although it goes longer than some. I had to look up the range on this and everywhere it says 1000 miles at 8 knots. It dont say how far it will go at lets say 6 knots, but I can imagine it will even make it over the Atlantic.

Three things I don't understand about it.
    1. They surely could have given it a far bigger fuel capacity, which would make it more than just a Mediterranean cruiser.
    2. Why not add a gyro to make it exceedingly comfortable when at anchor close to shore.
Lastly why no laundry facilities, as far as I know.
She is a lovely vessel and very competitively priced, however as a lot of people are saying, they seem to have missed out on a big opportunity with this one.

      1. Spec more fuel tanks. (She doesn't need them for 99% of customers)
      2. Spec a gyro. (She doesn't need one, already a stable design with low COG and wide beam).
      3. Spec a washer drier.

Personally I would hope beats offered more rigidly covered spaces, either with floor to celing opening windows or just the roof. Frankly sunbathing is overrated, your skin just gets damaged. I don't have anything against it, it's sometimes really nice, but having too much space for it is waste.
For example I would have just covered that roof with 100% solar panels.

That sunken lounge makes no sense. You have a large pilot house with glass everywhere yet can’t sit except for the helm seat as there is no settee. Instead you need to go down for it and have no views plus you’re losing floor space you could have had if it wasn’t for the sunken lounge.

I'd be more concerned about the shape; specifically the 20 foot beam; for a boat designed for island hopping in a Med where slips that wide are becoming very hard to come by anywhere near "season." 20 feet is well over 6 meters. That's 24 meter boat size. And the guys in those 24 meters, have stupid money to bid for slips with...
For experienced sailors used to anchoring out, content to rely on the dinghy when seeing Guetta on Ibiza..., perhaps not a big deal. But for "novices" there are probably good reasons why the big, Benetau sized, builders stick to fairly standard shapes and dimensions, even if those aren't always optimal from a purely naval architecture POV.
