6:13 yes, it should have simply been Pixel 9 Fold. "Pro" is a complete misnomer. 15:25 I can't wait for tri-folds. That will be truly transformative. 16:05 Michael, stop making so much sense! 16:43 the robots are taking over... 20:15 More sense from Michael... The other option is to make RUclips (or any app) a floating window and dragging it to one half of the semi-folded screen. Samsung does floating windows exceptionally well. 21:55 "in this economy" - it's a luxury good. Luxury goods are inelastic and unaffected by "the economy". Luxury goods are more prevalent than ever. I'm not defending it, but it's an objective point. There's also the matter of artificial segmentation - they won't price a foldable at a price comparable to a standard form factor phone. 27:18 Protect this man. Yes, it's worth it! My experience with foldables has been much the same - I carry one device and it does virtually everything while still fitting in my pocket. 30:25 every time I unfold my Fold, people look and ask what it is and how they get one. That's without even showing them how much it can do, or the fact that you can do things like plug it into a docking station (or just cast for that matter) to get a desktop UI from your phone. 32:30 outlasted the Z Fold 6 by a couple of hours? Calling shenanigans on that. At least I wouldn't expect that in actual daily use (seemingly corroborated by Michael). 34:50 and this is why the focus on "thinness over everything" is so pointless. A matter of millimeters makes the difference for features and capabilities. Stop hyping thinness. Even Apple realized this was a silly pursuit with their MacBooks. 38:35 I was hoping Google would give me some solid reasons to move away from the Z Fold, but they came up way short. More than half of the AI features are already available on the Z Fold, multitasking on the Pixel UI is still incredibly (and needlessly) limited compared to every other foldable. That's not to mention things like having huge bezels inside and out, having a glaring hole punch on the inner display rather than a UDC for a clean canvas (you only use the UDC for video calls in which it's absolutely fine and on par with any other laptop webcam). The P9 Fold just feels generations behind. The only good thing it brought forward was "swipe up to continue" on the cover screen when folding it (a feature Google didn't even come up with). 43:05 preach!
Just had a hands on and it is one of the nicest devices I've ever held in my hand. If Google actually committed to the product and marketed the hell out of it... The pixel could go head to head with the iPhone
I’ve used the P9PF for a day now and I’m going to send it back. Had to try it for a bit but for me……I want to use the inner screen 90% for video (RUclips, RUclips TV, etc) and the square form factor just isnt great. The video would be only slightly larger than viewing on a standard “large” phone. Really wish SOMEONE would stick to the passport style!
Agree as well. There should be someone that maximizes utility of consuming videos on unfolded screen from an aspect ratio. It's why I like the Samsung tab ultra more than the iPad pro 12.9
I was working in the mobile industry for so many years since the original iPhones came out. I can tell you right now that all those honor magics and all those phones, no matter how great they are. They're never going to make a splash here in the US because the majority of the smartphones that are sold in the US are sold through a carrier on a payment plan. I know that outside this country that's not a thing, but here in the US it's a thing. Like a perfect example. I just got the pixel 9 Pro fold through Verizon right? I always keep two lines so my 7 Pro is almost paid off. I added a line because I'm going to get rid of my seven Proline cuz that's my line that I don't give to nobody. I always keep one main line and I got right off the bat like $8 $900 off cuz I'm paying like half the price for it and then on top of that they gave me a $200 gift card. Why would I say no to the pixel 9 Pro fold and you see what I mean? I'm not paying any interest. I so it makes no sense to go out there and spend $1,800 or $1,900 on a phone outright for just because I want to be able to have the flexibility that I can use a prepaid plan or something. I mean it, you know I'm very happy with my Verizon service here at Florida. I've never had any trouble and I feel like it's gotten better over the years. I've had AT&t and T-Mobile here in Florida and that's where they're not that great. But I can tell you that even the OnePlus the OnePlus never has made a big splash because it's only available through T-Mobile that you can buy it on a payment plan. That's been where their contract has been. Again all and you know what and and it's sad to say but the United States is very finicky when it comes to stuff like that. Look how they banded Huawei like literally overnight because they said that they were using. You know some kind of Chinese spy hacking thing, so a lot of those Chinese phones are looked now with a big lens. You know at all times anything that comes from China when it comes to smartphones or technology or things like that. Our government keeps a very very close eye on it and as long as that happens, they're never going to be able to break into the market. They're never going to be sold through Verizon or AT&t or T-Mobile so they're just never going to be big inside this country. They're always going to continue to be big outside to United States in China, Europe, and so on and so on in the US. That's one of the reasons why Google if you look at it, they're focused more on the US market than anything else because the majority of pixel users were iPhone users and that's where Google is coming in and if you look at every year, they're increasing their percent in the market. Yes, it's a very small percent, but it's an increase as long as you're growing little by little. That's all that matters. That means that you're capturing every year the attention of people over Samsung or anything else look at the Samsung fold. It's the new one the Z fold 6. It's selling very poorly. The pixel 9 Pro fold at least with Verizon. I can't tell you with other carriers right off the bat. It went skyrocketed like pre-orders were through the roof. They were selling out and speaking to people in the high ups with Verizon date basically oversold. They were not expecting to sell nowhere near as many as they did. They thought this was going to be a much smaller market and it's quickly growing. But again, it has a lot to do with the fact that you're getting a foldable phone. That's $1,800 for $8,900 bucks. That's an amazing steal. You're not going to be able to beat that. Yes, you're not going to get that every year, but every year there's some kind of trade in theo for the phones. You know a Verizon's trade-ins are always pretty good. I have a 6 Pro, a 7 Pro and 8 Pro. Now I'm retiring my 7 Pro. I'll stick it in the drawer with my six Pro and then I'll keep my eight Pro and my nine Pro fold and then next year when I'm ready to upgrade my 8 Pro then I'll trade in my 7 Pro and get you know $800 for it or something like that. You know whatever it is it's yours. Going to get more through the carrier than you're going to get the directly through Google and as long as the carriers are able to that do those kind of deals. Google, Apple and Samsung have nothing to worry about. As long as they continue to improve and not go backwards, they'll be fine. And honestly, Google made a huge jump with the pixel 9 Pro fold compared to last year's fold and I think that's why it's attractive. So much attention because normally the bezels would have just been reduced by a little bit and not by a lot and let's not forget Google's really going to start shining starting next year when they finally drop the exynos completely and they go full on Apple mode. It's going to get to that point where it's going to be a battle between Google versus Apple and that's really where it's going to stay at. Let's not forget Google's been working quietly behind doors on fuchsia for a long time. Eventually that's going to be the operating system on Pixel devices and then Android is going to stay open source for Samsung and everybody else that wants to use it and Google's going to lock it down. Kind of like apple did not to that huge extent, but they are going to keep it where it's going to be exclusive to pixel devices
Don't like the chat about price: nobody forces anyone to buy a fold. If it's too expensive don't buy it. If it doesn't sell the companies will reconsider. They aren't charities. Z Fold 3 owner.
Respectfully love the chat. These reviewers are calling out big tech in America for price gouging. They are lucky that the powers that be don't allow Chinese smartphones into the US market. People should have more choice and there has not been so much innovation to justify the cost. If you don't like the chat about price don't leave a comment. No one is forcing you to like it...just don't like it, but why leave a comment. Lol.
Folding phones are for power users like Michael said. I can't see myself going back to a single screen phone again.
Miss LG V60 Dual Screen Cover Case ...was ahead of it's time
