@Vincent Amiel I love it too. And I agree with you. The piano at the start is just delectable...... The song is insane and hauntingly beautiful... Whats the worth in all of this??? 👏👏👏👏👏❤💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
this song is how it sounded and felt everyday when i was at the height of my depression. Everything was loud and words went straight through you and conversations were chores
I can't feel cos I'm numb I can't feel cos I'm numb What's the worth in all of this? Sing to me So what's the worth in all of this If the child in your head If the child is dead Sing to me
I loved how that song was used for the turning point in Trainspotting: the result of their drug addiction which was the neglect of Dawn, the baby that's supposed to be Sick Boy's, leading to her death 😔
This is one of them songs where you can’t describe the way it makes you feel. You feel happy but then you have a strange feeling in your stomach of sadness because something is bugging you really bad in life
This song sounds like it couldn’t end. Their voices are so special and beautiful together. The bass line is so pure, true, like someone looking at you with pretty eyes and all the world behind. The moment when there are just the drums and the bass is magic. Blur’s musicians are so kind that they don’t stop the song brutally. I love them and this song
This is so much better than the rest of Leisure. It's kinda incredible how much of a quality gap there is. Sure, I quite like She's So High, There's No Other Way, and Wear Me Down, and there's a few others I like, but Sing is just on a whole other level.
The B-sides to leisure were much better than a lot of the tracks that made it on to the album. The record company were really in control at that point. Luminous and Inertia are great tunes
I think it's just different. That's the genius of blur - one song can be completely different to the other, yet they are all blur. Essex Dogs vs Parklife. If you didn't know it was the same band, you would never guess it. So when you have that variety within one band, the songs become just a matter of taste
@@lukef1586 I agree. Still though, I think Leisure is a classic case of bad dictation. So many better songs they recorded could've been included on the album, but it seems the record label was having none of that. I love when a band can create music of such varying styles, like a musical chameleon, but the different songs still have to be good and the albums well composed. They and their record label got the hang of it after Leisure.
If you think leisure is a rubbish album then you don't get it. It captured a time where everything was uncertain and led to britpop. This and suede started a whole new genre. You don't get to cherry pick from genius. The album is a classic.
@@drdpression In all honesty, that was my favorite song off that album for a long time, like I was listening to "Modern Life Is Rubbish" back when I was like 12 and stuff,. and until this day. I've never stopped listening to Blur, least of all this particular album...
I once heard this one day while kinda melancholic/nostalgic and, after coming from university, I saw a nearby kid playground and, ironically, decided to climb and then go down a toboggan, in trying not to kill the "child in my head." Made me more nostalgic...
Still not sure how this was on Leisure because it feels not only so different, but just so far above the rest of that record. This would stand out even among Blur's later, more experimental work. Absolutely fucking ridiculous that they made this on their *debut* record.
Someone on Twitter (X) just asked Liam Gallagher : “What Blur song would you like to have written, Liam?” to which he replied, “‘Sing’”. When asked, “Does 'Sing' make you cry Liam?” he added, “Like a baby”.
Despite having so many brilliant albums, this is my favourite. I love the purity of it, just like the original stones roses album, which is also brilliant.
So proud to have grown up in this era & to have been born (Basildon) and breed (Westcliff-OnSea, school: Tommy Mores for lads) in Essex. I can't say anymore than that.
This song moves something within me. Now more than all the years before. Also, the album cover gives me a bite as that woman reminds me on someone long lost.
I've always loved this song &, was gutted my mate left it cut in 2 when he recorded it from cd to tape for me (oldskool download lol) way back in 1993. Tonight something is different. Tonight I'm listening to it as a musician with a decent pedalboard trying to figure out what Graham is actually playing & what effects he's using. Gotta say that only makes the song even better! 27 years & still finding new ways to appreciate them, I FUCKIN LOVE BLUR!!!
Wow. This came out in 1991. It’s a brilliant, prescient gem- a sign of what was to come in the 90’s with Brit pop. Arguably their best song (and without a doubt their most underrated).
This is simply an example of magic. This is not of this world. It was given. By who, or what, I don't know. But it's just too good. To be done by us mere mortals. Sounds like this. Well, there is something higher at play. I truly believe this. Magic.
It certainly was inspired heavily by My Bloody Valentine's Isn't Anything. This whole album in fact sounds like it was based on that album but mixed with the Madchester sound
Just like blur introducing the Beatles to My bloody valentine at a party.
This may well become my new obsession. Thanks Liam 👍
Ha - The Beatles and MBV are two of my favorite groups. And Blur is a third, but I have never before seen anyone tie them all together.
Graham and Damon's harmonies during the "aaaaaa' part is magical, I don't know how else to describe it. It always gives me chills
HuaaahhhuaHHUUUUAAAAAAA
Kind of Beatles, kind of Kinks
same, it's wonderful
So do I
Franz Lanz Graham loves the Kinks 😉
...something inside Sick Boy was lost and
never returned...
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAY THAT
Propelling ourselves with longing, toward the day where it would all go wrong.
:(
Heartbreaking 😓
They collectively killed a child. I never could find them "cool" after that.
This song sounds eerie at first blush, but then the drum begins and it's mind-twisting, insane and tormented. One of my favorite pieces.
Have you heard "Venus in Furs" by the Velvet Underground?
+Petox20x It definitely has a Venus in Furs vibe to it. Sounds like Maureen Tucker's drumming
Yes, and the psychotic violin sounds like John Cale's electric viola. Most of the song sounds like a cover of "Venus in Furs."

one of the greatest songs ever- an anthem for the 90s
Quite possibly the most underrated song ever.... Astonishing piece of work.
Gives me chills to be honest
So much has changed since the 90s

Devastating, hauntingly, most painfully beautiful. Another world

There's a strong argument for that, and it's hard to disagree, but don't forget 'Oily Water': an equal classic.

but its not a shitty popsong
GamersRevengeUK No, but the song Lost! (Also from Coldplay) DID originate from this song
