I understand you are saying its better, but I didn't understand what was actually improved. Is it some higher frequency? More gain? Wider angle? Some AI software removing the noise? What exactly was improved?
@@perchfreak739 i saw that.. it kind of says something, but nothing that I understand. It kinds of says that they changed the box and the signal and its now better..
Alot of improvements. The first one is the mount the older style had slop or play in the mount especially in forward mode the up and down movement did not allow the unit to sit flat . Now with the new mount design it locks in 2 different spots . The second one is just a option but in order to achieve greater distance and target separation I think they added extra layers of crystals in the actual transducer itself to achieve this . Garmin did the same thing when they introduced the lvs 34 to achieve better Target separation from fish and structures. Humminbird has had alot of work into this new design to achieve the issues they had on the 1st gen mega live .
@stinkbait9853 My understanding is that the smaller Helix (5, 7, 9) units are NOT going away. Xplorer is only replacing the Solix Series. There are going to be some good buys coming on Helix & Solix units now, Inventory dump...
Brian Thrift was throwing that fluke on a 100' cast and working it just below the surface using ML2 (we filmed this with JO). ML2 has excellent performance for baits and fish busting at the top of the water column, not just mid-depth, deeper, and suspended, as is so common when casting or Damiki rigging a minnow. All footage was from the same A/B cam cast sequence.
This going to be a wait and see game with Humminbird to find out if they are at the level of Garmin quality. As of right now I will say no. If not, I will be upgrading to Garmin since I can no longer get updates for my Helix.
Inventory dump equals “legacy”. Not being able to upgrade to mega live 2 with a helix is hummingbirds way of creating functional obsolescence. This mean all their products are designed to be expendable despite the cost to the consumer. The same thing happened to cell phones. At one time phones were free just to get you in the door. Now you have to pay thousands tor a phone and after a while they tell you the phone you spent a thousand dollars for will no longer be updated and will not work on the new network. Higher divedends for stockholders. Huge bonuses for CEO’s. FU to the customers.
Im in the market for an upgrade 20 or 21 foot tournament walleye boat and something i can take my kids fishing in on lake Superior with. Ive only bought hummingbird units but now theres no reason to not switch over to garmin for my live sonar. If i have to drop 2 to 3 grand to use mega live to and use my gen 4 helix units in my new rig, im just going to drop the 3k on the better garmin unit. Its a no brainer. Hummingbird has lost its advantage over the years and now they are working on losing their loyal customers.
Why buy this unit when you cant communicate with any of your hard worked money to have it thrown into the garbage . It was done with the Onix and now with certain models of Solix which I have and the other units, I'm remodeling my boat to be up to date with current boats but Humminbird will not be on my list since they cant be trusted as for here today and gone tomorrow attitude not caring for the customer that cant just pull out a couple of thousands in new models that can't be used with your system currently, Goodbye Hummi and Hello Garmin
They really dropped the ball on this. The only thing stopping people from going over to Garmin was not needing to update the head unit. Why would I spend the same amount of money to update to an inferior mega live when compared to live scope? All three major brands can run side by side in the same boat. Hummingbird is slowly moving itself to a map ploting unit only and thats only because it has lakemaster. But it's trying to mess that up as well. This is coming from someone with the money to drop on it.
For all you guys saying HUMMINBIRD RIPPED YOU OFF with old units nobody twisted your arm you were the cock of the walk when you got it huh times change Sucks To Suck
Spoke to some reps last year and they told me the helix will continue on for years as the entry level. Also said the larger 12 and 15 should have the processing power. So yea with that info of course many people bought 12s during the sale last summer. I'm sure if people had actual info saying it's going to be obsolete no one would buy it and wait. I guess narcissist will never see how they screw people over.
Going to be some more deals with inventory dumps. Garmin did the same thing a few years ago when the new transducer hit at Christmas. ECHOMAP 9 at $699 + $200 rebates on package deals.
not sure why people so mad, buying the new xplore and mega live 2 would still be the same price as switching to garmin if not cheaper if you sold your helix, Also if you have all hummindbird units on your boat why tf would you ever use garmin as livescope. Its common sense they cannot take the helix but so far.
it was honestly impressive that humming bird could make a live for a fish finder with no touch screen or decent processing power. People beg humminbird for better clarity which they delivered and now everyone's mad their gen2 helix can't run something like that.
Humminbird .. the new Bud light .. cya !!

Looks good. Definitely bummed that an "add-on" processor isn't in the picture for Helix users, but I don't know if that was evenfeasible.
Is it compatible with Helix series graphs? G4N types?
Absolutely not! Helix is a thing of the past apparently even though they are still selling it.
@dougmead7669 NOPE, There is not enough processing power in the Helix series. Besides, the Helix series is the entry-level networking graphs...

Very nice and excited about these units. However, that fluke going across the screen at minute 1:12 is a little confusing and misleading 😂

I catch so many on the 32 I would not even change to 34
