The ringworm is actually to kill the campers who offer to power up your card if you put it by the fire. If you power it up until they eat it, they die and you can infinitely power your card at a camp fire Edit: thanks to the people who mentioned the touch of death kills off the campers too; I'm currently working through the 8th or 9th level of Kaycee's mod and killing the campers is one of the best starts to get beefy cards
@@SaberAlex that can only occur after winning more than 6 times against leshy (after defeating Leshy 6 times, Leshy allows for you to try the fire 4 times each encounter, after killing the survivors, you can use the fire without any risk of losing the card you chose) note: the survivors won't be dead permanently, and they will be there again in the next run
And then he proceeds to never draw from the squirrel deck even though 4 squirrels basically let him instantly stalemate any fight without flying creatures.
@@demfrodegroot7596 Tbh it's sorta useless to draw more than 2 - 3 squirrels with the return to hand totem. If you have an okay or perhaps good hand at the start of your fight, it's a guaranteed win unless you somehow screw up extremely bad or you're in a boss fight and screw up or don't have a relatively good hand. This comment comes from personal experience. I overlooked one thing in the Prospector boss fight. and forgot to place down 1 squirrel to defend and that cost me the game.
I can’t believe no one is talking about marks impressive ability throughout this series to give every character a unique yet perfect voice as he reads the text with no context or preparation.
That’s a given, everyone’s so used to it being a standard gaming commentator skill that i’d be weird for a normal let’s player to not have it, let alone one of the pioneers
I started properly exploring RUclips about 4 years ago, and the amazing voices that mark gives to characters is the main reason I love to watch him play these types of games. It’s an impressive skill he has and he could easily make a career of VA if he chose to. Plus Lixian really elevates marks videos to another level. Both of them together is the ultimate play ☺️
It's a no-brainer. He's made a bunch of _A ___ with Markiplier_ RUclips series, which means doing multiple takes all the time. Adding the-series-that-must-not-be-named to the mix, he's unstoppable at improv.
So glad Mark is continuing this series. This game is definitely an unexpected sleeper hit. 47:06 Exactly the kind of reaction I expected from Mark. Buckle up everyone. This game is far from over.
Being a sleeper hit… it’s a very… good game. Heck my brother was the one that made me watch Markiplier’s Let’s play of this game… very weird yet cool tho
Campfire the Ringworm. At one point the settlers will stab and eat your creature. So using the Ringworm or Adder will kill the settlers if they take the card. Every Campfire after that will mean 5 risk-free upgrades to your card.
is that not what he did at 20:55? i don't know anything about the game besides what he's played so i might be wrong but they didn't do anything. are you saying to keep using it at the campfire until they do eat it?
@@lazxrev He did (I commented before finishing😅) After another run or two, it will start allowing you to risk keeping your card by the fire multiple times.
@@Kayoscape nah , Bug + the ant ability is busted. Every time you spawn an ant, you get an ant in your hand. Gets infinite bones, and you can get this infinite from any bug card. Combine this with a full board of ants and that’s how I beat the final boss without any of the Boons.
@@enthusiastofcute Well he just didn't have the film he needed, which I don't think you unlock until you get the wolf either. So the game didn't glitch, it just had an option built in for if players didn't have the required items to finally beat the nature dude.
Hey Mark- in the event that you do read this, the goal of the Ring Worm involves the campfire event. Later on, you'll be able to "push your luck" and keep enhancing creatures at the risk that they get eaten by the survivors around the fire. Normally, this is bad; in the case of the ringworm, you want them to eat it. If they do, the survivors will be dead for all future encounters that run and you can enhance your creatures many times at each fire.
Gotta say, I'm really impressed with Markiplier's skills in this episode. He's really been thinking through his moves, and he did really well throughout this life. That stinky moon strategy was awesome!
Everyone's talking about how broken the Undying Right Squirrels are, but can we appreciate that Mark putting the stink on the Stout ended up being very useful in that last battle? Moon couldn't do shit.

I beat the game yesterday, and i have to say, It was my favorite game in the past while, my favorite part was definitely act 1 though in the cabin, just because of the moody and dark vibe in it compared to the rest of the games areas.
I can't believe he actually listened to what Leshy said about the Ouroboros. I have not seen anyone pay attention to the fact that it gets stronger. Well done, Mark!
I think a lot of people (at least the ones I've seen stream the game) saw that but thought the power up was temporary or only for that portion of the game. I never got the Ouroboros during act 1 but when I got to act 2 I did grab it.
@@allanbaker3958 yeah I got mine to 200/200 by the end of the game, though I saw someone else got theirs to 1000 and could have gotten it higher if they felt like continuing the exploit they found
@@Cubed_Sphere From my playthroughs that is definitely the best combo to get, but the other two sigils that are quite strong are Squirrels being worth 3 blood and Squirrels giving you a free ant once played. Any one of those will help immensely.
@@Creamy_Bagel The field mice card sigil is super powerful as well, its somewhat similar to the undying card but you don't ever draw another squirrel with it. It copies the card you play with the sigil into your hand.
"I don't have any rings": draws the ouroboros (btw for those who don't know for the ring trial you need to be wearing a ring or draw a ringworm or ouroboros so he could've passed it but didnt)
Fun fact: the "Leshy" the green pulp of pain and misery is talking about refers to the GM, but Leshy are also Treant-like creatures from east-European folklore (you probably know them if you've played the Witcher) that are famed for their gambling addiction. It was said that Leshy would congregate and bet parts of their forests on their games. This explained the phenomenon of forests "moving" (aka having more or less trees over the years). So that's a really nice detail
Mark: On the first try, immediately gets one of the most overpowered totem combinations possible. Also Mark: "I don't have any rings" (Forgot Ouroboros)
Although the ouroboros may count as a ring Although I’m not sure The ring is located in the clock puzzle along with the film for the camera and the last talking animal
Some next tips to help along without spoiling anything - when getting boons make sure to look around the board for something hidden, use the dagger anytime before facing the final boss and make sure to look around, if you want the game to be a bit easier get the mantis god or a regular mantis and combine them (by sacrificing) with a heavy hitting card to do double the damage
This is honestly one of if not the best series from Mark I've seen. Every time I see one of these videos it brightens my day, whether it be his hilarious commentary, amazing (but somehow also quite dumb?) gameplay, or random squeals of terror. Keep up the good work Markiplier :)
same i'm so happy he's still the same mark he's always been. loves games and always remembers where he came from. truly the most wholesome big name youtuber on the platform. Pewdie pie, jack bob, wade etc are all up there for sure but mark is at the #1 spot
I must say, Markiplier really honed his skills and how he thinks as time went on. He went from playing moves on a whim, to really strategizing how he would enact his turns. Thanks to him, I'm pretty hooked on this. Imma buy it soon tbh. Probably one of my new favorites in terms of playthroughs on this channel
A very tiny spoiler, the game goes DEEP down the rabbit hole just like Pony island. Mark has not even seen 1/4th of the madness this game has to offer... ( and then there is also a pretty decent modding community ) It's a great game and i highly recommend you acquire it, preferably legally...
It was kind of glossed over, and maybe it's just me, but the trapper taking his mask off and spinning it around to reveal that he was also the trader the whole time was awesome. I somehow just never realized it until right then. 😅
I love watching mark play unique games like this. Don’t get me wrong, conventional indy horror and stupid party games are great but its the unique one-off games that truly shine on his channel
Yeah, I've been loving this so far. Even convinced me to buy the actual game and it SLAPS! I usually don't like the horror stuff, but this is an exception.
THE GUY IS LESHY? Okay so if you don’t know Leshy is sort of god creature that lives in forests in European folklore, he leads travelers astray and kidnaps children sometimes so… kinda fits with what they’re doing in this game.
Didn't know about the kidnapping children part; I was under the impression Leshy was just a creature that was effectively a hermit. Still, my reaction to him being Leshy... Yikes.
@@nuckchorris499 , yeah, I already knew that. Which is why I was surprised (not freaking out, though, as I was exhausted from work) to see a relatively accurate portrayal of Leshy (physically).
Honestly, pretty outstandingly verbose moment there. Symbologically Impressible -- Symbologically is similar to symbolically, but more specific to study and knowledge. Impressible means that something can be impressed onto it. So essentially this phrase would mean that him entering the cabin would be capable of having a study/scientific analysis of its symbolism pressed into it. Pretty wildly accurate and neat as a phrase.

That’s a given, everyone’s so used to it being a standard gaming commentator skill that i’d be weird for a normal let’s player to not have it, let alone one of the pioneers
The guy has years of experience and he used them well.
I started properly exploring RUclips about 4 years ago, and the amazing voices that mark gives to characters is the main reason I love to watch him play these types of games. Campfire the Ringworm. At one point the settlers will stab and eat your creature. So using the Ringworm or Adder will kill the settlers if they take the card. Every Campfire after that will mean 5 risk-free upgrades to your card.

He's missing a third talking card that will help him
Hey Mark- in the event that you do read this, the goal of the Ring Worm involves the campfire event.
It also can make you pass the Trial of The Ring, which isn't bad at all.
Yes, also it can poss for the final Trial of the Ring, and also you can make them eat an Adder and that works too

RINGWORM CARD TIP (as supplied by a guy on Reddit):
There’s one where you sacrifice it to the survivors in the fire event, but I think you’ll only notice what it does if there is a second fire event. Just keep enhancing it until the survivors eat it. Then when you go to the fire event a second time (in a single run), something will be different.
This is also true for any cards with poison
you can upgrade a card more than once at any fire, each upgrade increases the chance of them eating it on the next upgrade at that given fire

@@TheBerylfly I think Manly mentioned that he cut a lot of things out, namely the repetition with Leshy, so his playthrough may have been actually been a similar length! Comparing his, Jesse Cox, and Mark's runs have been fun, though...
@@TheBerylfly Also I'm not sure if that happened with inscryption but Manly plays a lot of game he already knows everything about.
@@YukaiUreshii Manly definitely said that, but that's part of the fun of the comparison for me, he looked at 5 hours of LP content and said "yeet."
That, and Manly death card was way OP
Proud to see that he used the stink strat so that the moon did no damage at all. I wanna see him keep playing this cause there is so much content on this game even when you think you've ended the game.
Mark, a tip! Use the dagger again and pick the glowing eye. You will be able to see stuff in the cabin that you couldn't see before ;)
giving hints is cool and all, butdont you think you went too far on the backseat there? you just told the whole solution
That’s not a tip, that’s a whole ass solution. Backseat gaming is toxic, just watch and enjoy.
@@murilosabino8364 if your screen looks different when you put on the new eye wouldn’t it be self explanatory to look around especially when the game itself encourages you to get up from the table from time to time? Maybe that last part was a bit much but I’ll edit it out
@@marz4807 Yes it would be self explanatory, and that's the point, telling which items to choose and what it does in a puzzle game is just bad.
Reminding him to use his knife is bad enough already, but maybe it is a necessary evil, if he's lucky enough to never need to use it, anything past that is just spoiling too much and sucling the wonder of solving a puzzle.
Why didn't he have a chance to get a glowing eye the first time? I got it on my first use of the dagger. And for the people complaining about backseat gaming that is the only way to progress the game and it's not really an obvious solution so it's helpful to know to avoid an episode of making no progress.
We're not gonna talk about how Mark beat the Prospector BEFORE the mule was even in the game. Coulda gotten something good, no?
just in case anyone was curious, after you die 3 times as in make a deathcard 3 times, anytime u come across a fire on a map, u have the choice of using it multiple times. if u put a ringworm or anyother poison creature through it and kill it, the next time u use the fire the people are gone and u get to use the fire to add either 5 attack or 10 health to a creature everytime.
also you can use the ring worm as a ring at the end
What was up with the static card then? I've never seen that
@@marcosramirez2278 it becomes a random card when you draw it
@@dacianatrif490 cooool
Mark incase you think of starting a new series, this game has multiple acts to it, you barely completed the first one. There is something else you need to complete it! Good luck man! keep up the great work
Incredible name
dont give him spoilers dude
@@Krilorytheweirdo is it really a spoiler though?
@@Krilorytheweirdo It'd be worse if he thought that was the end of the game and left
That's good to hear! I thought Mark had practically beaten the game already, but I bought it anyways. I'm glad that there's still a lot to uncover
"That's about as much overkill as I could possibly do"
*Laughs in Ouroborus*
*Laughs in three way attack sigil*
@@grimsladeleviathan3958 I’m afraid you don’t understand the power of an ouroboros and an unkillable black goat
I got my ouroborous to 700 attack one time and then put the three way sigil on it
@@grimsladeleviathan3958 *guffaws in Mantis with Mantis God sigil, which attacks 5 times*
@@dogwaterbath1062how long did it take for the overkill damage to finish?
“I'm sure that's symbologically impressible" Oh man, I almost died laughing! The face he makes, like, “What did I just say?" I literally almost passed out laughing, you're so good, Mark ‼️❣️
He flashbanged himself with his own words.
As expected of our dear Markiplier
@@grimsladeleviathan3958 Hahaha, so true
The moment I saw Mark get the undying sigil for his squirrials it made me so happy. That is one of the most op things in the game. The possibilities become almost endless.
Well he is king of the squirrels lol
Squirrels of Worthy Sacrifice. Nuff said!
@@Kaiser0hmega literally not as strong. pick up 3 undying squirrels and you never need to spend a draw on one again. infinite sacrifices easy gg.
@@lilz_relixx5913 Still requires three spaces on the board instead of one. Though I do not deny the value Undying Squirrels, it is simply a matter of preference. You do you, and I do me, and we won't do each other. Probably..
That's a good poem right there.
Spoiler for Ring Worm: If you put it in a fire and keep pushing the fire (so that the survivors eat it) they all die of a ringworm infection giving you free campfires for the rest of the run without any risk
oh, I didn't even know they had a chance to eat the creature
@@SillyGooberMan The chance increases every time you try to upgrade the same card but it never happens the first time
Me: *still processing on how lucky mark was to get the undying squirrel*
Mark: "A BLONGHORN?!"
3 bloods sigil squirrel is way better lmao, that wasn't really lucky.
@@kurayamiblackheart not with Mark's place style it isn't
@@kurayamiblackheart I've tried both and tbh I consider them almost at the same level with undying being better. Undying squirrel lets more unit out on the field so it's good if you're on forced defense, also is good for planning overkills as the squirrel recycle back to your hand. As for 3 bloods it's good to put a powerful unit early, but it's gone as soon as it's used.
@@spotted-gausford yeah the big strength of undying squirrel is that he doesn't have to draw mana cards again
@@spotted-gausford I beat leshy both with undying squirrel and three blood. Its honestly all a matter of preference. If you like 3-4 cost more 3 squirrel is better, while 1-2 is better with undying
14:49 i don't think you realise what you just found out about that card.
Normally the shadowy game master would describe it with binary. But, you just found it in a rare event, and it was actually given a NAME.
"Inhabited".
Of all the people I’ve watched play this game, Mark has definitely been the most entertaining.
I agree, though I think manlybadasshero is a close second.
@@jorge2555 that Manly card was hilarious in the Moon scene
Jacksepticeye has some fun vids too of him playing this game
Yeah, besides his very funny way and fine voice, he is the only RUclipsr that have good knowledge of gaming, that what i feel at least
@@thatonepersonyouwontremember “you one shot the moon manly”
Mark's face when he went through the 'player's' videos was priceless to me because I knew the end wasnt the end because I have played games from these creators before, I suspected there was more to the game than what it seemed.
It truly is one of a kind so far.
Mark getting the Undying squrriel right off the bat is just... god damn
It's intentional during the game. It always shows up after the first 2 deaths.
I didn't know Mark played this game until I was half way through it, and you don't know how excited I was to see Mark find the same totem I used to win - unkillable squirrels. Infinite sacrifices and defences. Three squirrels is almost any sacrifice for the rest of the match.
I'd be perfectly fine watching more of this series. It's so intriguing, and Mark is fun to watch generally. He even seems pretty invested in it.
I cannot wait to see more.
Sadly the views are less than his other videos, i hope that doesn't deter him from making a part 4
Same. I was actually bummed when I thought Mark had already reached the end of the game-so glad that there's more to see
@@SirSpartAfterDark More than 3 million on the first one, almost 2 million on the second, and this one's reaching almost a million in a day, dude he's not dropping it because of "views" or something lol, he literally says see you on the next one at the end
@@nox7919 I'm wondering if Mark will continue on Act 2 and even 3. Act 2 and 3 for me is a huge downgrade and a disappointment. I want to hear what Mark had to say.
It was a huge surprise for me because I thought Act 1 after the moon fight will have tougher bosses and a new map. But was two new games that I didn't ask for.
This game ended for me when I beat Act 1. 6 hours for $20 is a scam.
same! thanks
Can’t comprehend how Mark went from having some noticeable trouble with this game to having something so OP, I haven’t seen any other RUclipsr take advantage of it.
Infinisquirrel is love.
Infinisquirrel is life.
I have, michaela laws did it too.
INFINISQUIRREL
The only thing better than infinisquirrel is 3 blood squirrels. You can pretty much ignore the cost of any card in the game, and unlike infinisquirrels which are limited by space you can place down 3 cost cards even if you only have a single square open on the board. Another good one is ant queen squirrels, you can fill a board up with an army of ants just by drawing squirrels and wreck everything in your path.
@@areadenial2343 3 blood infinisquirrel
i like how we have seen Mark's strategy evolve from something that has high cost monsters and not enough to tribute to summon them to something that spams high cost monsters out with infinite squirrels and tribute fodder. It's cool to see how strategies in this game become more interesting as you get further on. (I play Yugioh, so I use Yugioh terms for card games.)
Reminds me of a magic deck made by the dad of an old friend of mine. It literally gave him infinite squirrels.
@@figo3554 My favorite magic deck was a sac deck, so I'm glad to see Mark utilizing that strategy
without spoilers but some spoilers.
this isn't even 10% of the strategy depth this game has to offer, get ready to see a LOT more combinations and cards x)
I love how the Markimoo card only has one eye, showing how he affected his caharcter with the dagger.
I just have to say this........
The feeling of seeing the excitement and joy in my 4 year old daughters eyes, to hear Marks voice, is just something special. I can't describe it, my best friend loves to watch my favorite youtuber with me! As soon as she heard your voice Mark, I swear, her happiness is compared to when you first became the King Of Fnaf! Her name is Emerald, she was diagnosed with autism but that absolutely doesn't stop her from knowing who you are! Keep making the world smile the way you make my daughter smile!
Hey man I watched your videos on your channel and I gotta say you’re extremely under rated, I mean you ate grass for god’s sake! You definite got the spirit my man and I can tell you and your daughter have a great relationship. Keep up the hard work and I’m sure you’ll get noticed! 😁
The sheer amount of joy and compassion people with autism can experience warms my heart, a couple of my good friends are on the spectrum and they're some of the most compassionate and friendly people I know. God bless your daughter, she's going to grow into a wonderful person
I have autism too! Hold your daughter close. She's (literally) a gem, no matter what anyone says otherwise.
This is single handedly one of marks best series I’ve been watching mark for a long time and I haven’t enjoyed a series this much in forever I literally Can’t wait for part 4
dude same this series makes me so happy, I haven't enjoyed a series this much in a hot minuet. I still love marks content but this is just extra entertaining
wow, didn't know there was an 'alternate ending' to this. After he got wrecked by 8 grizzly bears the last time he got too far ahead of the game, I thought it would do it again. Not reward him for beating Leshy without getting the Stunted Wolf. Pleasantly surprised
I finished the game, but right now I'm just playing the Leshy part of the game without continuing the story and every time I beat him he says something different. In my latest game he even mentioned that his name is Leshy and that he's the scrybe of the beasts. I'm gonna just keep beating him until he has nothing more left to say.
@@cynister7384 Yeah, same. To be honest, I really really don't like the Lucky Carder found footage stuff. Takes me out of it. And its kinda cringey to be honest.
I just imagine the 3D Parts with the Scribes are the actual game
@@pax462 Oh yeah, the Lucky Carder thing is very cringey to me as well.
Another nice touch is that if you use the knife during the final fight, Leshy never gives you a replacement eye and so your "victory card" will be missing one too

So it turns out the ringworm is supposed to be eaten by the survivors at the campfire which poisons them allowing you to max out cards
Of course you have to actually attempt to boost the ring worm which does almost nothing for you
I'm a year late, but the ringworm is a worthy sacrifice.
The confidence with which he said "symbologically impressible" is astounding.

The fact that the villain is an insane old man who trapped you in his cabin....is terrifying...
He's not insane. He's evil.

The undying squirrel is the most cheating thing in the game except Ouroboros! And he's got 'em as the first totem!
My favorite totem was the squirrel with the rabbit sigil, tbh. Having infinite squirrels is nice but getting two blood (minimum) off every squirrel draw is great for getting wolves and the like in play quickly.
My favorite it Worthy Sacrifice squirrels
