I have modified the original Winsor and Newton Cotman Field Travel Set to fit 14 pans instead of just the original 12 half pans. I am changing out the Chinese White for a professional series Yellow Ochre. It was cheaper to get the box in the Cotman series so little by little I will refill with the Professional Series. For now I also have a couple of golds and yellows from Daniel Smith that I thought would work well for urban sketching.

I find the case difficult to open. I've had to ask for help with it, and other people struggled a bit with it too. My set is new and and I wonder if it gets easier with use. What's been your experience?
The trays slide out easier now but the initial open and close can be a bit difficult. This is a set that I have in my destash pile currently.

Alizarin crimson from Windsor and Newton is not lightfast at all…
Thank you for the information. I’m just a crafter sketching in a closed sketchbook … I guess it’ll just fade over time :)
