    One of the most amazing things about this tv series is one how Louis’s memories of Lestat are not reliable so Lestat we don’t even know who his character truly is and two this show depicts a perfect toxic relationship between Louis and Lestat and even in season 2 Louis and Armand they have a very complicated relationship as well and it is sooooo so good in how the showrunners depicted the relationships so far in the show

    I think some essential aspects are not being considered:
    - The show, as well as the books, isn't about heroes and villains, but monsters capable of the worst atrocities, all of them, they carry their human traumas, flaws and qualities;
    - It's all about different perspectives, we've only seen Louis', Claudia's and Armand's versions. We already know about some distorted facts. Sam himself says we haven't met the real Lestat yet;
    - It has been mentioned and we see in the trailers that this episode will be revisited, not retconned though.
    - None of us know the real facts yet, I don't even know if we will.

    I'm watching the 2nd season now but it's hard sometimes because it's so different than the books at times. Armand making Lestat look so weak was hard for me to watch, in the book (The Vampire Armand) he says "IF any of us could destroy him we would've but he was too strong, he was made by an ancient Vampire named Magnus" and in the show he calls Magnus one of his coven members that ran away!! Also, every other trailer has been having Amand's actor keep talking about "whose perspective? Whose story?" thing...so I figure it's not going to be the whole truth Armand is telling.

    Your critique was great but for a couple of points. I would add that it wasn't intelligence that weakened in Lestat upon Louis entry into his life. Remember that Lestat had no choice in becoming a vamp so there remains somewhat of a yearning within Lestat, for the sensibilities he had before being forced out of everything good within himself. His need for music and poetry are indicators. Lestat is so drawn to Louis because Louis maintains, in every way that he can, the decency within himself that Lestat had long-ago completely sacrificed to a low state of consciousness/vampire. This epic is truly about the epic of America and Europe. It is about the oppression. Also, when Lestat shares with Louis that their may be 100-101 vamps in the world, that is only a western viewpoint. African lore teams with tales of vampirism and Haiti has a spirituality that the west today, continues attempting to repress and destroy. Part of that spirituality is the recognition of vampires. Roland Jones does a brilliant creation of adding this powerful story to what Rice began, but there is so, so much more. In the words of Armand, "The most power is in the hands of the weakest." Most do not understand the meaning of those words. Louis holds all of the power but has no idea that he has ALWAYS held the power, and I mean a power that goes beyond that of having an addictive drug effect on fellow vamps. Most of the viewership engages this material from the aspect of being a romantic fairy tale. That is the problem that suppressing information creates. While there is considerable metaphor in this drama, it is not a romantic fairy tale.

    I'm glad you mentioned the domestic violence episode where Louie was physically abused, I found that episode to be TRULY DISTURBING. I felt so bad for Louie and I was really caught off guard about how Lestat did that to him. The director did a fantastic job with that episode overall because that episode speak a thousand words without there being anything actually said if that makes sense. In a way, I'm glad Claudia and Louie killed Lestat because what he did to Louie really touched me and this is just a sci-fi fictional t.v. show...... She was considered their daughter until SHE wanted things to change. She wanted to be Louis' sister and she wanted Lestat to consider her as an adult. As for aging her up, if they had a younger actress they wouldn't be able to film in New Orleans as the child labour laws are very strict. Time is also a factor with a child actor. With a movie that's not as difficult, but with a TV series it creates a problem. I honestly don't think a younger actress could have produced the kind of consistent performance that Bailey or Delainey have. Anne Rice wrote Claudia as a 5 year old as a way to mourn the death of her own daughter
      We're never going to see her onscreen like that. There is a really good graphic novel called Claudia's Story adapted from IWTV and I do recommend that.

    Unpopular opinion: Don't hate me but the show is mid. I'm watching because obviously vampires are my jam, I am of course subscribed, but I have qualms. Lestat is the best character and they turned him into a ghost. Why have they done this? Justice for Lestat. Louis is even more of a simpering whimpering self hating vampire than he was in season one. It's like, your a vampire, just accept it. I have zero sympathy for him. The replacement Claudia is not on the level. When the camera pans to her I have to look away because she's always doing something weird with her eyes. Plus, she looks old and young at the same time.
