Thank you so much! I successfully executed Terraria on my ubuntu. I never thought Id have the chance to play games on linux. Im just a newbie and I almost thought of going back to windows. Thanks with this
For anyone having persistent issues with lutris (it does happen), I suggest to manually install the package downloaded from the lutris website instead of the package that is offered by your distro's package manager. I myself went through a dreaded cascade of dependency issues that nearly caused me to format my entire pc and start over from scratch when I finally tried the debian package, which works like a charm! Also, it's not a bad idea to disable automatic updates to nvidia drivers when everything works as it should. Every time an update for my nvidia drivers is installed automatically, my nvidia control panel loses 80% of its functionality and most video games simply stop working. For the record: my AMD gpu rig has no issues with drivers whatsoever. If you're a devout linux gamer, you're far better off building an AMD powered machine, as AMD is more generous when it comes to contributing to open-source drivers.
I noticed games can become broken and not start anymore when messing with Wine settings for each of the added games. I managed to fix this by removing the .wine folder altogether but you have to be careful to backup any savegame or game thats stored in that folder before proceeding. This enabled me to "reset" the wine prefix and the broken games worked again in Lutris.
Thank you for your work but one thing is unclear - do you run a pre-installed game?! I mean it's unclear if Lutris/Wine, whatever... allows installing the game before you run it, as you've shown in the video. How can I install the game first? Thanks!
Yeah it was a pre-installed game. It's the same procedure for installation. Choose the exe file, enter the path to install, once it does install, right click on the game, click configure, them change the exe file to the one of the installed game from the setup exe.
Please check Proton DB on how many AAA in-demand games run perfectly, and how many are playable out of the box. I believe the answer would be, "A LOT".
I commend the Linux people (Wine, Bottles, Lutrix...) for the great efforts they have gone to to make Linux a more viable and competitive gaming platform. But until and unless game developers port or design games to run on Linux, .... 😢 Steam is great. Valve?
I understand your want, but from a business standpoint where you gotta make money and hundreds of people are on your payroll, you focus on the top priority. Sony pays Nixxes to port their games to PC (Windows) since PC has a huge market. I mean I'm sure you already know all of this. I just hope that proton ages like fine wine so that it becomes as simple as launching a game and forgetting which platform you're playing it on.
So i don't really get it I downloaded and it has a Setup.exe how do i run it? i've tried to put it on lutris like you but it's just insalling the game and i'm not seeing this. Can you help me please? or maybe it's a whole other thing i need to do?

You don't need to use proton outside of steam. Lutris wine has all the necessary things for exactly the same level of game playability. Proton just contains some steam specific components. You are NOT losing out on anything by using Lutris-wine.
@@GsMultiverse Indeed, Proton is the name Valve gave to its fork of Wine. And as Proton is also open source, Wine will slowly include all the good/generic bits anyway. In theory, Proton could sometimes have a bugfix that hasn't yet been incorporated to Wine but that shouldn't last long until Wine is also updated.

You need to install Linux on the Chromebook, you can search for the guide. You probably get a few flavours. It would be a containerized Linux inside of Chrome OS. Once installed, you can do this, I would presume.
I don’t understand how to get games like For example i want to play Batman arkham i have it on steam should i do something or how can i get game files.???? ( i didn’t understand that part well )
If you already have the game on steam it should be very simple you can just click on install and then play the game once it downloads everything. Don't forget to use the compatibility of proton.
im trying to use these tutorials for a specific game but it has an msi not an exe so i cant do it manually however trying to use the lutris installer keeps saying error no wineprefix and im lost. are you able to figure out how pokemon xenoverse works? ive been working on it for no joke 5 hours but im new to linux since i just got a steamdeck and i just cant wrap my head around what to do because there are no real tutorials on it ive gotten it to work on wine itself but the issue is i cant use the controller and as its a steamdeck thats kind of inconvenient when i need to use a bluetooth keyboard on this tiny thing only in desktop mode

im having issues running crossout whilst using this method, when i start the game nothing quite happens. Is there something that i am missing? (btw im using debian 11)
Doesn't matter which distro you're using, method will be the same. The only difference is how you download lutris and wine. Instructions are clearly mentioned on their respective pages.
Umm not sure, still imma try to give you an answer. Maybe try downloading the file from Microsoft, adding it to Lutris like a normal game and running it. Or maybe just run it using Wine from your file manager or terminal. Lemme know what happens.
Sorry but, I tried installing GTA San Andreas, but when I launch it through Lutris, it is really laggy. When I launch it with Wine (from the gta_sa.exe) it doesn't stutter that much, but I want to play other games and they stutter aswell in Lutris. Can you help? Is it something with the Wine version to run the game?
No idea, lutris doesn't do anything as such to slow down or speed up your game. It might be a wine version. You could experiment with different lutris wine versions.
Yeah on the left, click that cogwheel and those are the versions available. Maybe try asking people in reddit. I have a feeling i wouldn't be of much help.
Unfortunately i don't have a steam deck. It's not available in my country. A flatpak version of the app will be released in the near future. Combined with the fact that proton is already set-up on a Steam Deck (you don't need to install wine), it should be pretty easy to setup and should be similar to my tutorial. However, I'd say don't take my word for it. There will be people making videos once Lutris gets Steam Deck support and those should fit the bill.

I would not suggest running a game inside a vm unless you're explicitly passing through a GPU to it, which I'm assuming is not the case here with VMware. Dual booting is the way to go for this.
I have commented on that earlier. You just point to the executable in Lutris. Once installed, you change it to the executable that launches the game, and not the installer
