"This is me daughter. A right misery she is. I don't know where she gets it from, her mother were never like that". Beautiful writing from when the show was character driven, not sensation seeking.
Violet Carson had previously been a much loved presenter on a radio show for children as "Auntie Violet". My mother remembers her from that with much affection.
As Dr Who said, around this time, "There never was a golden age". Somehow though, a lot if us would still go back if we could. At least my knees would be better if I did.

@@londonlady227 Yes, the great third Doctor. A big influence on me when I was growing up. I think the difference as we grow older is that the troubles of our youth were ones we'd grown up with and were part of our "normal". We grew up dealing with them. Modern troubles are new or the same old ones redressed in modern clothes. Better the devil you know, and all that.
@@annmc8392 I think the ones who dislike him have known people like him. Seeing him twice a week for a few minutes is very different to seeing someone just like him all the time.
The announccer guy, at the end talking about 'Up next its Gail's 21st birthday and the day she's engaged to the "BEAUTIFUL" Brian Tillsley!" Hilarious, although true...
The announcer messed up his words - he should have said Bingo Brian Tilsley, given that Bri's prominent choppers suggested he could be related to Bingo from the Banana Splits. Suzie Birchall referred to him as Brian the Teeth.
She was Tricia's old schoolfriend and they both worked at the warehouse across the street. Tricia's parents and gran ran the corner shop for a while in 1974-75.
You'll never see actors like this again.....Even Mrs. Sharples was smiling.....a joyful episode.
Yes luv you're right.
Beautiful episodes like this are not seen on Corrie anymore
What a fun episode! I wish they had these sing alongs on the Street today!
Dev and Steve would be hilerious
Problem is the younger generation don't know the words to these songs...
Ena was so beautuful in this and the voice of angel.
wonderful episode. Looks like they all had a grand time. Can't believe it, Ena, dancing.Who'd a thunk it?
Wonderful..
Take me back to dear old Blighty, when it had Blighties like this in it.

Bless Albert! He could be cantankerous but he was funny with it! Loved this episode!
Ena had such a beautiful smile--I wonder if it was hard for her to keep that sour face on all the time?

She was a lovely kind lady by all accounts, who dressed like a duchess off screen....furs, jewels etc.
Lovely episode
Aw this episode is so nice.
Ernest's speech...Sir, 50 years later it's worse than you could ever imagine.
I live that they know how to enjoy themselves and are so inclusive.
Oh, what a wonderful treat! A perfect delight.
A truly delightful episode - loved this.
This episode is soo pure 😭😭
Such a great episode. Minnie should've been at that party though.
I think that’s the first and only time I’ve seen alberts daughter.
She appeared on and off from 1961 to 1984. Mostly off, but she wasn't very likeable.
@@stevenhighams4190 It was good casting, in a couple of shots I could see a resemblance.
Ernest was and is right for today also.

@@gilgameshofuruk4060 Yes, Jon Pertwee was my Doctor ❤....hindsight is always glorious as I've said, times are continually hard for every generation.
Loads of comments on here for this brilliant touching episode. Fantastic. Thank you..😂😢🎉
And Ken’s 80th involved a big do at the Rovers and a Skype message from Emily-all unavoidably marred by news that Sinead was dying. 😥😥
I dont know why some people don't like Albert. I think he was a lovely character
Me too. He is a sweet grumpy 😊

A pain in the a… 😂😂😂👊🏻
Nothings changed 2024 🤣🤣👊🏻
Wish Tricia would come back

Bingo 😂
Thats right Albert! Drive Gail and Tricia into an early grave
They gave Albert the best present, someone to listen to his stories. He played those scenes with real joy.
The little boys with the blow whistles, boy I would have been very tempted to grab some large scissors ✂. A well placed snip would've been quite apt!
Love the sing songs
Does Ena ever remove that hair net?
Comes in handy when preparing food.
LOL
Sometimes she donnes a sparkly ✨ hair net, but only on very special occasions!
That was a mistake here, for special occasions Ena used to take the net off and dazzle us with her immaculate shampoo and set.
In the earliest episodes she didnt wear one and when she wears her hats, she takes it off.
Ena jumping around😂
Buggernation Street.
Ernest was a dull as dish water 😨
Yes, boring was his signature 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ENA SHARPLES SHE WAS THE QUEEN OF THE STREET THE OLD PROGRAMS WERE THEBET NOT KEEN ON THE STREET TODAY 2024 👍👍👍👍👍👍
The young folk dont know good songs - Goodbye Dolly Grey ,Ive Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts , Its A Long Way To Tickle Mary - All classics
Where's Minnie?
9:22 - For a split second there Ialmost actually fancied Helen Worth.
I fancy her now. I'd even do Audrey at a push.
@@TomBartram-b1c Reginald Perrin, Rentaghost yes, not now mate lol
Where did Gail come from anyway? I mean, who is she related to?
She was Tricia's old schoolfriend and they both worked at the warehouse across the street. Tricia's parents and gran ran the corner shop for a while in 1974-75.
Albert's horrible..dont deserve any of that
