I started watching CS in 1985...but the farther back I go, the beter the drama, acting and humor! I would suggest to all CS fans to go back to at least mid 1970s or earlier. I might spend most of my life trying to keep up! Cheers for the upload!!
The older they are the more Dickensian they get... literally, as like his work, they are totally the product of their own time and slowly turn in to classics And by the way, episode 1 (1960) was broadcast closer to Victorian times than to our own times.
About the time I actually stopped ' I started watching around 1971 ' remember from about age 4 ' my grandmother was a die hard fan ' as was my mum ' I was addicted by the age of 8 ' have great memories Mon and Wed nights growing up.
Thank you for uploading these classics coronation street..with everything happening in the world today.. these help me to relax..and unwind could watch these all day ..fab
I'm not sure how I came across these Corrie uploads on RUclips (there was probably several glasses of wine involved and knowing me, I would have searched "British TV Drama" in the hope of finding something I hadn't already watched during Australia's brutal COVID lockdowns). I have just started binge-watching from Jan 1978 and am absolutely loving the humour and the quirky characters. I had some bad health news recently and this is just what the doctor ordered. Thank you ProfessionalGun66.
Thanks for the upload you been my hero. I was off work for 6 months for my foot and you help make my recovery nicer and i thsnk you from the bottom of my heart.
I think it's Emily that is in love with Ken, and wishes she could be in a relationship with him, but the closest she can get is to live the romance vicariously through Deirdre.
My late mother watched that first 1960 show and never missed a single episode up until her death in 1994. I watched a few episodes and loved the famous three in the snug drinking milk stout (Ena, Martha, and Minnie) and of course Hilda's warbling.
@@paulfrost8895 I remember something about the original baby playing the same role until she was around 10 or so, then they got a new Tracey in. Can't quite remember why... not a good enough actor or real-life parents withdrawing her services
What drives me nuts is that Ivy and Vera, in common with many other characters in the show, speak with Yorkshire accents. Not something you hear very often at all in the Greater Manchester area!
Interesting note - In the episode broadcast on the 20th of June, Billy says his mother Mrs Walker, was delighted by the election of Margaret Thatcher. Thatcher was voted in on May the 4th, 6 weeks earlier, so this tells us that the filming schedule at this time was at least 6 weeks in advance, possibly more. I'm pretty sure this is the first time it was mentioned, so they were no doubt trying to rush in a somewhat delayed piece of contemporary news, and one of the biggest stories of the time!
That Ken Barlows got a brass neck - looking down his nose at his ex wife Janet for wanting to send his kids away to school then does exectly that himself - that makes him worse than her in my book
1:20 "we're in schtukh!" Great Yiddish word for up a creek.Didn't know it had made its place in British slang back then. Mike Baldwin pronounces it better.
Don’t know why Ken gets slagged off so much. He’s got a genuine affection for Tracey and Deirdre and is a handsome, refined gentleman. Billy Walker is a spoiled Mummy’s playboy.
To be fair, I thought Deirdre was strong backing out bc she wasn't certain and didn't want to make a mistake with having a child. Some people would just be swept away with it all,but she seems strong minded and puts her daughter first 👏
I don't understand Steve Fisher's success, in his job or in his popularity, I think the character is totally flat and without charisma, yet everyone seems to love him. Can't see what Mike Baldwin saw in him to make him his Number Two!
Bless old Eddie Yates... his two other memorable roles are (of course) in the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, and (my favourite) the weirdly Dickensian Mr Popplewick in Doctor Who ruclips.net/video/JgdDk8cku3A/видео.html
I was around 8 in 1979. Does anyone know what episode it was when Bet Lynch had a male friend in her kitchen, and her new boyfriend came into the house and straight away punched this guy in the stomach? I'm sure it was around 1979
If I were Mike, I would've fired every one of those lazy, incompetent cows for f'ing up that order. There's supposed to be millions of unemployed. There must be thousands of machinist that would kill for their jobs, and be happy to do them properly.
Enjoy this. How? Listening to the Vitriol of Ivy & Vera, nasty, ugly, foul mouthed, The Bitterness of dear old Albert the most revolting character ever to walk the cobbles. The list is endless. Fred Gee. Money grabbing devious & totally pathetic. It comes to something when Ena Sharples is the only character with principles.
I would say there are otherws inline ahead of deidre fo high maintenance. The likea of Gail, Suzie. And years later Liz McDonald, now she takes the cake. 🤣
I don't know why but finding these old episodes from before I was born are really good for my low mood. Thanks for uploading
Im the same, born in 1980 but these episodes bring so much comfort
There is a lot of positive fun going on in these episodes. A lot of fun and laughter. 😅

When coronation street was brilliant
Gone to s##t now. A completely different soap, bland characters and rubbish sensational storylines.
Emily always held Ken on a pedestal, like the sun shined out of his arse.
Thanks again, PG66 for all your time and effort for posting these wonderful episodes! Such great memories.....
I love these old episodes I look forward to watching them thank you 😁

try going right back to the first episode 1960. I've been hooked
Susannah, Here's wishing you improved and better health. I find watching this so therapeutic, too!
Hope you’re doing well susannah.
This has been my favourite show for a long time, not the modern ones though hope you are feeling better.

Billy Walker dodged a bullet with that high maintenance Derdrie
I reckon Deirdre dodged the bullet by not getting snobby Annie Walker as a MIL. Ha ha.
@@SuzyQ334 Some recollections may vairy
, yes definitely, Annie walker was right about warning Billy
Who’s Derdrie?

I couldn't agree more.
Emily has always had a soft spot for Ken, not necessarily in romantic form. But this is just my pov.
this channel's content is a preserve of British TV history, youtube people like this 'person's should get the first awards from the new king
I think Emily held a candle for ken
A match made in heaven.

Rita mentioning holidays in Yugoslavia pings my heart 😢
I wish Emily would finally declare her true love for Kenneth.

Deidre really does iron her way through the years..never stops ironing the woman 😂 little Tracey was adorable
Is it a different actress who plays Tracy now? ' I guess they 'v chopped and changed.
You're right about the ironing Nicola. Shame about grown-up Tracey - ha ha!

Bet Lynch was tv GOLD!
Thanks a million.x
Absolute legend PG!
Poor Deidre all her suitors, ken, Billy and mike have all got 20 years on her and it shows.
Bet looks totally gorgeous in her scarlet holiday suit.
I love all of these episodes. Thank you.
Didrei can't utter a single sentence without mentioning Tracey.
Exactly what I thought!! It gets so draining!
Deirdre dumps Tracy on anyone so she gets a good time.

That Ken Barlows got a brass neck - looking down his nose at his ex wife Janet for wanting to send his kids away to school then does exectly that himself - that makes him worse than her in my book
I had to laugh at that when he said she wanted to send my kids away. And that's what he did anyway??
The kid is in bed so what does Emily do, has the radio on loud. Just wouldn't happen.
Exactly
Maybe poor Emily found her crying rather annoying you cant really blame her for that
lol lol
Love Ann Walker 👍🇬🇧
I love the Ogden's and their adopted 'son' Eddie. They're like a family of Hillbillies.
I love them so much! And they are exactly a crazy family, so suited to each other, it's wonderful. Highlight of the show.
Ken was never cut out to raise childern he never raised his just had them for very short visits
Those elasticated short sleeve blouses were awful on Deirdre, so unflattering lol. Thanks for the uploads, much appreciated.
She wore some regrettable clothes 😂
Deirdre was a real user -all that babysitting Emily etc had to do !
1:20 "we're in schtukh!" Great Yiddish word for up a creek.Didn't know it had made its place in British slang back then. Mike Baldwin pronounces it better.
Lots of Jewish people settled in London where his character was from 🙂
The Jewish community have been established in London from the 12th century.
The Jewish Community and the textile trade went hand in hand
All over the east end at the time and iold uns still use it.
As a Londoner approaching 60 I didn't know it was Yiddish, thought it was German. Blimey!
God, it used to be so entertaining.

Kens a twat! And Billy's a better man!!!!!!
That little moment where Bet kisses Tracy on the head, and she says 'ooh you kissed' so wholesome

Watching classic Emmerdale 2005…Billy Walker aka Tom King hasn’t changed a bit!
When billy said to deirdre "we can take it with us." about tracey, that would of made my decision for me. Its not a it but a she
