Absolutely. Most parents today side with their spoiled kids. They want to be 'liked' by their kids. Burt took him down a peg and quite rightly so. My ex in-laws were bloody vile. Gail had great in laws. :)
You can see how in August 1981 that the seeds for the Ken/Mike/Deirdre triangle were planted. You have Ken and Deirdre living with Uncle Albert, who will not give them any space as newlyweds, you have Ken and Mike starting to dislike one another as well as Mike being flirty with Deirdre and her being all too aware of his feelings. It is great stuff.
I don't think you can blame Uncle Albert, it's his house after all. I think Ken and Deirdre have got a cheek thinking they can treat his house as theirs and shove him in one room.
It was well known in the eighties that you could contract Shingles from someone with Chickenpox, and there was me thinking Ken was well read. " Old wives tale " indeed!
54:11 Uncle Albert was really rude to Mrs Walker, even if it was none of her business. 3:22:42 Emily's face at the thought she is stuck with uncle Albert for a few weeks. Uncle Albert: "woollen underpants and I know it's August but I'm freezing" 😂😂Response to video only.
Shame Mr Fox didn’t give R Brian a straightner he’s been begging for it. Jack calling Mavis a little cracker & Bert’s response😂 I think Stan is absolutely adorable❤
In our practice the GPs will only make a house call if the patient (or is it 'customer') is in the end stage of a terminal illness. High time GP contracts were re-written to serve the interests of patients and not the interests of GPs on an average salary of £90,000 paid for by us.
1:44:07 It was only a few months ago Bert had to give Brian a lecture about apprecating his wife and family (and Brian seemed to understand!) and now he ALREADY has to give him another lecture, Brian is such a waste of space.
Changed days when fostered 13year old John is left on his own while Len and Rita work, and she’s even considering letting him go to the reggae ‘do’ ! And do Jack and Vera ever mention Are Turry, or has he already left home?
I agree and so unlikely it's actually hard to stomach! She wasn't very maternal when Ken Barlow had to go and see her about the Bates kid not doing well at school, she was hard faced and ultra common.
You're absolutely right! Corrie decided to increase the age of the twins by 1977/78 time, which was poor continuity for the show. They were born in April 1965, so would really have been sixteen years old in 1981. It annoys me really, as the producers assume we forget theses things, but quite clearly we don't! 😉
@@rabbit64sj91 If you've been binge-watching the eps from the past few years this is a well-known continuity glitch and I agree it is annoying. But compared to the rubbish the current Corrie writers and producers are dishing out, it's a minor one. And as for the actress who plays Susan, she looks about 25 IMHO.
@@rabbit64sj91 lol was not just the age they got wrong, every actress that played susan was crap. Not one of them cld act for tuppence, it was cringe worthy to watch.
ALL of this is YOUR fault Gail. Quit whining about being broke and Brian having to work to pay for the overpriced box you POUTED and INSISTED you had to have. Now that all the things people warned you about are happening m, you don’t get to whine and pout and blame everyone else
I remember Len and Rita fairclough living at number 9 snd they had a foster a boy john spencer with a rabbit called george - do not know whom played John Spencer what became of him.
I’ve just googled his name and he is called Johnathan barber but it doesn’t say much about him I don’t think he done anymore acting after his role in coronation street
I love ❤️ the old ones of Corrie brings back many fond memories of watching these with grandma,i thought Susan Barlow was born April of 1965 so in this episode she would have been 16 and not 18! She would have to be born in 1963 if she was 18 and she wasn’t she was born in 1965!!!!! Ken and Deirdre have definitely got her age wrong
Thats how things were back then it went with a job like that - no one thought anything about it - it was just seen as a lit of a laugh - a bit of fun - I girl at work used to pinch my ass all the time - it was annoying but you couldnt say anything and be seen as woos - and there was a guy used to go around grabbing the other lads between the legs all the time - everyone thought it was hilarious - different times
Yes I can remember I am an American here that was so until the 1980s ! All this progress and red tape has caused more confusion and chaos. If it's not broken leave it alone!
4th different Auf Wiedersehen Pet actor appearance in as many months.Christopher Fairbank is a Londoner and usually good at accents but I'm finding his Manc a bit off.
Wow, one forgets how awful the union situation was at the time. "Wrong type of union card.." what complete and utter bollocks. She had many faults, but thank God for Mrs T for putting an end to some of those appalling practices!
What a little piece of heaven , takes me back to a much simpler happier time , loved the characters and story lines
Eee the good old days when the doctor used to call at your house. Skip 40 years later and you can’t even get a telephone appointment with one!

Most of the receptionists are very rude I find in doctors, and if you move to a new location very difficult to get accepted by a doctor

I LIVE for Coronation Street. Thank you so very much for uploading these episodes of heaven ..
What even today's corrie?
Burt is a legend, the way he spoke to brian. What a good dad he is
Absolutely. Most parents today side with their spoiled kids. They want to be 'liked' by their kids. Burt took him down a peg and quite rightly so. My ex in-laws were bloody vile. Gail had great in laws. :)
Bert was as tough as nails when he needed to be . Peter was a great actor.
I really hope Bert’s (Peter Dudley) actual family know how well thought of he was.. see so many comments about how well liked he was.❤

Poor Emily was always taken for granted. Looking after Tracy for holidays, babysitting, putting folk up like Blanche, now Albert.
Emily’s a great character. Been through lots of dramatic storylines. 😀👍
Taster for Percy ( see above).
Kindest person on the street, I know plenty of people like her.
Emily enjoyed being center gossiper
Deidre snaps her fingers, and Nanny Emily jumps! She’s just like a trained seal! 😂🤣
thanks again for taking the time to upload these.
It was well known in the eighties that you could contract Shingles from someone with Chickenpox, and there was me thinking Ken was well read.
" Old wives tale " indeed!
Wished that I have had a father in law like Burt.
Well said, Mike, Ken needs telling.
Yes, it was great the way Mike cut through Ken's hypocritical BS and showed him for what he is.
Watching these episodes makes me prefer Mike to Ken.
You go Hilda!! Don’t let that poor old rabbit get used by Eddie. I totally agree with every word
Never could stand Gail. Without question my least favorite character.

Elsie's Celtic knot earrings ❤ Love them 😊
The old series was soooo much better than the current ones.
Moxey from Auf wiedersehen pet Brian's mate at the garage.
Colin Jennings - Well spotted. I loved Auf Wiedershen and Moxey was a great character.
O-o-only when he's l-lighting a fire!❤
It’d have been nice if Len & Rita had been able to adopt John.
Have to agree with Mike, it's a bit late to play Daddy Ken.
Vera is a Gorgon. As Oscar Wilde writes: "She's a monster without being a myth".
Bert was such a nice guy...though God knows what he was on when he said yes to Ivy 🙄
At 1:32:20 Ivy called Vera, Elsie.
Isn’t it odd they didn’t notice & left it in?!
I really like Len
Shame Mr Fox didn’t give R Brian a straightner he’s been begging for it.
Jack calling Mavis a little cracker & Bert’s response😂

What a lovely lad John is
Agreed. So much better than gobby Sharon and Jenny.

Barlow was boring
At least Baldwin had a get up and go attitude
Ken was so condecening and stiff with Tracey.
He was in general .. stuck up
Freddie and Eunice both have jobs, so why can’t they rent a flat??! 🤣😂
Changed days when fostered 13year old John is left on his own while Len and Rita work, and she’s even considering letting him go to the reggae ‘do’ !
And do Jack and Vera ever mention Are Turry, or has he already left home?
Yes, you do have a predisposition to shingles if you had chicken pox!
Little nick is adorable
With friends like Vera, who needs enemas?
That old woman that keeps calling for Brian acts like a dog in heat.
Needs to put a bra on too.
Rita’s sudden maternal itch is quite the boring story line
I agree and so unlikely it's actually hard to stomach! She wasn't very maternal when Ken Barlow had to go and see her about the Bates kid not doing well at school, she was hard faced and ultra common.
she wasn't very maternal when she slapped chesney which caused a whole court case in the early 2000s
Hated the character John couldn’t act
3:21:37 I know he’s a miserable so and so but I actually like Albert, Tatlock, he had some great comedic lines!
I was just trying to imagine Ivy with a cell phone. Imagine!
Jack you have to love him
Hilda with the rabbit - it will stay single. Cracked me up😂
1:07:00 According to 'Corripedia' Susan was born in 1965, making her 16 in 1981, so what's going on here?
She has been brought up in Gasgow so obviously she would have some fake id made to get into the clubs and pubs before she was legally allowed
Gail was a professional moaner! Could never understand what any of her men saw in her.
3.21. Emily gets a taster for having a certain flat capped, moustached ex-army chef living with her in the 90s.
Intelligent Ken cannot pronounce Corfu correctly 😂😂
Wait a minute... how can Susan Barlow be 18 in 1981, when she and twin brother Peter were born in 1965??
You're absolutely right! Corrie decided to increase the age of the twins by 1977/78 time, which was poor continuity for the show. Elsie" shut ya mouth Vera, its a danger to low flying aircraft"
I love the humour, which is so missed along with the fantastic acting.
That made me laugh 😆 when Elsie said that to Vera in the factory
@GinaRussell-c2c It was classic. The one liners are great and have me in hysterics
I thought it had already been Jack and Vera's 24th wedding anniversary just before they split up and vera was staying at Ivy's?
God this was a dreary month. Relentless Gail & Brian, Ivy and Rita's foster kid.

So when all those men in the cafe were grabbing at you, flirting and making suggestions, Gail, that was ok.
Exactly
Gail made clear it was not ok and would never have spent any time with any of them, or showed the slightest interest.
Just what I was thinking Theresa. Gail is ridiculous
Hardly the same, Gail never went out to lunch with any of them.
