That is so embarrassing for China, that their latest submarine has to be towed back to port on the surface.

For the little pinks / ten cent army in the comments: we all know the difference between the Republic of Taiwan and the "People's" Republic of China. Taiwan is an independent country and your little internet comments do not confuse anyone.

I hope they had detection craft in the water or air nearby. That could be a huge win from an intelligence perspective, sonar signatures, conning tower radar signatures, magnetometer readings, stuff like that. If you can detect and track a sub you can sink it, and that being of of China’s most advanced types is a big opportunity if acted quickly upon. Being that close to an adversarial nuclear sub without it trying to destroy you is rare.

China is a part of Taiwan because China has two parts due to Civil War Republic of China and Peoples Republic of China. Currently both parts have their own administrations but during the civil war Taiwan was the government and China were the rebels. Sooner or later both parts will be united because the separation caused by Civil War should not last long. God bless their eternal unity
