Just found this channel. Best Delta Salmon fishing info I have found on RUclips. Fisherman steps back and out of the way of net man and dont bring the live fish on the boat. You could fish 1 day with this guy and up your game dramatically. Can't believe 50 haters gave it thumbs down. Excellent video and I look forward to watching more.
Fishing salmon in Alaska is a lot less sophisticated but at the same time you can see hundreds to thousands at a time in the shallow rivers or creeks. They make good eatin tho no matter where they are caught. Thanks for the video!
what is more effective? Jigging for salmon or trolling silvertrons? i was up at wimpys a few weeks ago and trolled for quite some time with no luck. love your channel here on youtube! very helpful pointers!
It's all right I do fish some of the same bodies of water that you fish I'm 30 minutes away from lake Berryessa I Love the channel because one you have amazing videos and your in the same area as me and you fish some of the same bodies of water I do.
One last question. Why fish for these endangered fish after they have managed to survive and are making their way to their spawning grounds? It seems to me that anglers concerned about the survival of Chinook Salmon in the Sacramento River would consider not fishing or at least voluntarily reduce the daily limit to one fish. Using barb less single hooks would also be a very good idea,
The first net job was text book. It is amazing how many RUclips vids demonstrate how do net a salmon completely wrong. Seems the majority of posts show how to hold the net handle level with the water .
You mention boat control when trolling downriver. Do you still set your boat speed by the way the spinner blades are spinning? It would seem you would be going a lot faster with respect to the bank and bottom of the river.
Sup Fisherman, awesome informative video!... for those of us that are fishing this weekend (Nov. 19). should I fish towards highway 12 using 160, 84 or the stream down the middle?
The way these fish were cut to facilitate bleeding works but is not nearly as effective as making a cut horizontally through the spot in the rear of the upper throat where all the vessels from the gill rakes converge. The amount of bleeding is more than 5 times as fast. When the gills are left intact and one runs sea water through the gills with the washdown hose the bleeding is fast and complete.
When you're fishing salmon from the shore with spinners at Pittsburg or Benicia, can I use a bass rod for them? I have a couple of med heavy rods for bass but i wasn't sure if that would be good. Love the videos btw.
THere are practically zero wild fish left in our Sacramento river system. Without the hatcheries their likely will be no salmon at all. After the drought we had for so many years things are grim. This year the number of fish was pathetically low.
I always use silver blade mepps 1/2 Oz spinner, just floating down the father river. casting out. biggest one todate. weighing in at 59lbs for a king..
I'm looking at so much hyacinth in the Delta now. I remember skiing out there in the late seventies and 80's and we were just seeing it then. Very sad to see the ecosystem being overrun by such an insidious plant.
I really wish next years regulations require single barb less hooks or simply no river fishing for our precious King Salmon that are seriously in trouble.
