Update version 1.2: The right Powerful perk is no longer a viable option. In all cases you should pick the middle Powerful perk on your damage hero! Notes: ROFL! I sang too high pitched for the microphone to pickup!.. during the Intro I was singing Led Zeppelin: ruclips.net/video/P3Y8OWkiUts/видео.html I unfortunately have a habit of using the words 'sharp' when I mean 'piercing'. I do it a few times in this video, thank you for your understanding. I forgot to re-mention in team comps... Zek is a GREAT pickup if you want to corrupt the chant of initiative in Act 1; really opens up your options.
I've noticed this message about the right powerful perk on most of these videos. Is this still the case? I know it goes to 7 instead of 10, but since you are getting max stacks right away anyways, is it not still best for this build?
Powerful perks are definitely varied mileage. For every hero except Hiener, I personally go the max output option because I feel comfortable with stacking it quickly and often winning turn 1-2. I think when I added this comment the two options just came down to so much closer of a gap, that I decided it was best to suggest the safer option to everyone. the risk is high for the other one, and the reward minimal. I figure anyone with enough practice to be min-max for the extra bit is likely safe to switch to the riskier one. Also, Vulnerable and Powerful have always been the most volatile perks when it comes to patch changes+nerfs.
I very much appreciate you timestamping/showing the starting decks for the team and adding the perks codes. Even if I'm not running exactly the same squad it helps to get an idea of how to build other characters to support video's main build. Also appreciate showing the decks again in the Act 4 decklist section so you get a general idea of how you want to progress.
In Aquarfall, the Altar in the center can have a purple event with Nagas. There you can accept their deal to teach an attack to one of your characters. The one for Gustav is amazing for the dps build, it's called Abyssal Sonata, a song spell that costs 2 energy, attacks all monsters, repeats 1 time and applies insane, vulnerable and slow. It doesn't even require any stanza so you can cast it at any given time. The only "problem" is that it vanishes.
Thank you so much! the support really helps keep things running around here. I took a few passes at Thorns, I was not impressed. I really struggle to justify a full guide for Thorns, but I will take another look at it here soon. In the meantime, have you seen these two videos of my Thorns only run? ruclips.net/user/liveIYagZ28EEOQ ruclips.net/user/liveTPuFaRrDpvw It was intended to be a full gameplay video, but sadly the gameplay loop was very boring to watch. If I don't mention it in these vids, then be sure to avoid the Hydra (who literally eats thorns) and things like Monty (rabbit elite) that have dangerous abilities that aren't attacks. I literally could not defeat monty or hydra with my pacifist run, you of course don't have to go that extreme. The fact that thorns only scales with enemy resistance (not powerful or anything else) is what really turned me away from it. Key cards: Stockade The 1-cost AoE thorns in both warrior and scouts The Thorn doubler that Warriors have.
Made it through Madness 16 by the skin of my teeth with this build! Took every challenge, only two Gustav deaths due to thorn challenges so those could've been avoided, but whatever. After mostly breezing through the acts, I ran into a ton of trouble with the Archon on this build and had to try it like ten different times ovre the course of a few hours before I managed to get it right. I managed to snag a purple Chant of Initiative on Gustav early on so I was able to use Neverending Story, but without the lvl 5 choir ability, he runs out of stanza right when you really need to be doing a lot of damage! I also probably should've switched over a camouflage to not vanish; that probably would've saved me a ton of trouble. Great job on the build!
@@deckertech-aaron Yeah, I have a difficult time adjusting decks to Archon fight, which cards to switch from vanish, which cards to cut, etc. I guess what I like about this game is you can always keep fine-tuning!
ethereal weapons does make the "whisper's" attack that does mind and dark much more effective as it changes the dark to more mind and you get the double sharp benefits, easy 1 energy 200-300 damage
Just a bit of feedback that the perk codes are too long for me to copy-paste. I get code is invalid. Tried resizing my window and zooming out, didn't help. Aside from the corrupted chant and I think corrupted bell which you mentioned, there's also adventure awaits. I'm not sure why you would waste the hat quest on that one though!
It's a game changer for sure. I now prioritize some of the common-rare gear over the quest and boss rewards, simply because I have a high chance of corrupting them.
@@deckertech-aaron I've seen the lava axe from the red boss for sale in act 4. I forget if it was in town or as an exotic shop challenge. I had the money to corrupt it and didn't know!! UGGGH
It always comes up on my radar, but I end up skipping it. I remember refunding Darkest Dungeon back in the day for some reason, probably theme; I don't enjoy zombie/horror sorts much. I will give Darkest Dungeon 2 a solid try. I don't have a beta for it, but I did snag up DD1 just now and will give it whirl again. Will look for 2 once it releases. I did just get introduced to Breach Wanderers. That one is releasing in June and I am 100% going to be making some vids/guides for it between now and then.
@@deckertech-aaron I could see how you would be turned off from DD1 given that info, but I would still encourage you to look at DD2 when it drops. It has a brighter and less grim color palate than the first game and plays a little differently. There would be plenty there for you to enjoy if you do pick it up. If you don’t like DD1, I wouldn’t exactly say you wouldn’t like DD2. It’s in beta rn, but the full release should be on steam in May, I believe.
Will do! I will even see if I can jump into the beta so that I have some intro content for it's release. I think you nailed it with the dark palette too; my eyes struggle and I recall trying to crank the brightness and contrast settings, haha.
@@deckertech-aaron it’s currently only on the epic games store for the beta. They just released the last update before the full release in May so there is plenty to work with until launch. Then upon launch there will be AT LEAST 2 more bosses to make 5/5 and whatever else comes with it (probably more characters). I do truly think you’d enjoy DD2 more if you weren’t the biggest fan of DD1
:) it's a good one; very applicable with Nez. I'm so glad someone caught it and said something! I try to fill me day with as many movie quotes as possible.
Try Evelyn support through curses. Curse of fragility to stack marks and vulnerable, curse of elements goes cool with elem prof or ench weapons both, and charge batteries gold for self manaboost, transmissions and scrolls for team boost. Probably mana surge, as "Hey, give 4 mana for the team spending only 2"

@@deckertech-aaron Thanks for the super quick responses on year's old videos! Really helpful information as well.

Thanks! That's a direct result of viewer feedback on early videos. I just feel bad when I forget to show them or timestamp them.

I love to imagine with this build Gustav drops his guitar and takes out his Gibson to destroy the enemy. Great Work dude

I had an opportunity to test Netherblade with Heavy Metal.. You are correct. It does not work to play Chant of Accuracy and hit twice.

Archon is definitely a lurch in tempo; such a drastically different fight. Great job on finding your way to victory.

Great video as always. A corrupt tune up also grants stanza 2 I believe. I prefer it as it offers card draw and only costs a little more.

You could get adventure awaits! from act 1 lake node if it spawns for stanza 2 for basically the entire run
I don't know that I've done that (or remember it). I'll check it out
