omg this came at such an opportune time! I'm literally doing up my London travel journal now! I returned in the middle of March and still haven't finished it 😭 but I am getting there!!! Thank you for this video, Abbey!
I just got back from a two week trip to Italy. I took your travel journal class at the St. Louis Pen Show in June (and loved it a lot.) It inspired me to grab a TN regular size insert and one of my covers. I prepared the pages before we left. I didn’t do very good at keeping up during trip, but I’m hoping to begin work as I do my vacation laundry! 😉 It was so incredibly hot while there, that I was a melted mess when we got back to our apartment. High hopes for finishing now though. 🤞
I love love love your journaling style. Thanks for sharing. Also realized I haven’t journaled in so long because using gel pens isn’t as satisfying as using fountain pens. Time to go ink my fountain pens 💃🏻
Ephemera was the word i was looking for! 😩 I've travelled so much the past few years in some cities in Luzon, Philippines, and I don't know how to keep my ephemeras, it got messy and cluttered and that is the biggest lesson for me today. I'll definitely sort my things out from my next travels. Thank you for this tip!
I’m in backlog mode. I started my first travel journal last summer during my trip to Spain and have not finished it. I want to finish it but I need to buckle down and do it. Will take these tips into consideration as I head out on my short trip to SF for my first pen show.
Thank you for this video. I'll be visiting Japan this year and I was thinking of creating a travel journal. With earlier trips it was mostly my perfectionism that stopped me from creating a travel journal, as I'm not really artistic (both with words and creating spreads) but do want my spreads to be pretty 😅 Hopefully with these tips I'll be able to get myself to really start and finish a travel journal 🤞
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video! There are a bunch of your tips that I can't wait to implement. For example: create a bank of prompts, organize my ephemera in the moment, paste first and write later and make sure I allot time to finish the journal!
Thank you so much for this video! I bought a ticket to stationery fest and so wanted to do your workshop but I had some urgent medical stuff come up and had to cancel my trip down to NYC. I’m heading to Prague and Vienna next month before my surgery and wanted to do some serious travel journaling so I can look back on it during my loooong recovery. I’m sure taking your workshop would have been even more amazing but this is still really helpful. ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I am getting ready to go on vacation. I have been getting my travel journal ready to go for the trip. That has been really fun putting stickers in the sticker book and collecting the few pens and other items I want to take on my trip. Thank you for your great tips. They help out a lot when planning my trip and when I eventually do get to the travel journal part! You are such an inspiration!❤️❤️❤️
what i do with ephemera i collect, i have a pouch and put dividers inside (just folded pieces of paper) and pre-mark them either by date or attractions/places i plan to go to. when i know i’m geading to a museum, i prepare a clear envelope so i can store brochures, etc easily
Thanks Abby. I really enjoyed your video. I’m currently setting up my first TN as I’m going to Japan next month. Yours tips were helpful, especially the idea about prompts. X
How do you deal with ephemeras where the colors… clash? Idk if that’s the right word. Sometimes I hold back… but other times I just go all out. Since, it’s pretty much for me to look back on.
I either space them out on different pages or choose parts of the ephemera that work color-wise! You'll see that most of my travel journal pages are color coded and for me it's the easiest way to organize them on my spreads also going all out is fun! it's really about instinct and your personal taste!
I finished my travel journal of my trip down south and my trip up east coast...phew....now, with your tips from this video, I am prepping for stationary fest trip!!!! wheeeee!!!!
Do you sometimes work on your travel journal after a trip? Also I would love to see how you pack all your supplies for travel. i brought a sketchbook to London and started but that's it course I also had a 9 month old and everything was so fast. I wish I at least saved ticket stuff and papers in it.
Not silly!! Yes it’s a fancy clip ahaha mine is from TRAVELER’s Company (brass) and the plastic ones I use are from Penco. Bulldog clips from the office supplies store also work tbh
What a great video with so many helpful tips and suggestions. Thank you! I'm curious about which TN refills you consider your "essentials". I slowed down the video to visually ID them but perhaps you can also suggest a list? All best and enjoy your upcoming travels & workshops!
I mostly use MD Paper Cream for most of my TN refills. For the limited edition ones they also usually come in this paper type so I really like them. They're super fountain pen friendly!
I keep a Hobonichi Techo and it's relatively small for daily journaling (A6). I usually write a shorter summary and how I feel instead of what I did that day. You can check out my midyear setup for more ideas: ruclips.net/video/H8J2BIp3TOU/видео.html&t

fountain pens make the experience 100% better imo!

Have fun!
I really love the prompt ideas .. without it I feel lost but quick glance at some prompts it gets my mind speeding off into a sunset :)

I mostly work on them after a trip. the footage you're seeing here (on a white table) is my desk at home
This may be a silly question but do use chip clips to hold your pages? Something fancier? I’m just getting started on my 1st journal!
Not silly!! Yes it’s a fancy clip ahaha mine is from TRAVELER’s Company (brass) and the plastic ones I use are from Penco. Bulldog clips from the office supplies store also work tbh
Well done
Thank you!
ahhhh! i am so sad i missed registration for your SF Pen Show Workshop!! thanks for this fun and encouraging video
see you there nonetheless!
what do you use to print the tiny photos in your journals? Thanks
I print them at the drugstore
On a journey right now! But my supplies are in baggage. Better planning!

I will prob make a list in the future!
Where can i buy the book in India?
Hello Abbey! I would really like to have your book, however it seems that the link (National Bookstore) you provided is no longer active.
please ask National Bookstore, not me
If you keep a travel journal and write about your trip in that, what do you write in your normal journal? Do you still write in both?
I keep a Hobonichi Techo and it's relatively small for daily journaling (A6). I usually write a shorter summary and how I feel instead of what I did that day. You can check out my midyear setup for more ideas: ruclips.net/video/H8J2BIp3TOU/видео.html&t
Sooo backlogged. Need more advice on how to get it all done!
you can dooo it! you can plan a buncha my videos while journaling, hopefully to help accompany you with backlogs 🙂↕️
