I for one absolutely love watching any video you put on Kyle, it’s far more entertaining then any tv programme, you and Gregg have such a great work ethic, attitude and talent. Although I’m not the biggest fan of timber construction it’s very satisfying to watch great people doing what they do best, and your work screams quality. 👍🏻
Yes Kyle, Each stage is like watching a series on the TV, If you miss 1 part, and go onto the next part, and we see it in the background a part you didnt film it might be upsetting, so Yes!! treat this as a series with many episodes, If you miss one you get upset!!. As a carpenter nearing retirement, and getting ready to build the retirement home, it is great to see the new products and building techniques that make homes safer, stronger, and more comfortable. Keep the content rolling!
Also, those little details are what make or break the job. Seeing and hearing a pro solve those details on the fly definitely helps DIYers and beginning tradesmen get it right the first time. Seeing mistakes made and corrected is also really valuable. I’m remembering your ceiling insulation mess earlier in this project. You learned something and, for sure, viewers learned where not to cut a corner. I’m glad you left that in the series.

Firstly, I am no carpenter/finish guy, not on any level. I bought a 41YO house in 2023. It was still only 90% finished. 1 1/2 years later, It's about 95%. It's the litte stuff that takes time. Time to identify, time to complete. I gotta learn as I go. But my family likes what I have done. This channel helps me out, greatly. 👍 I still need to trim exterior windows... they were never trimmed out, lol.

I’ve always liked watching construction being done. The banter between you and Greg is priceless. It looks like you have a need to overbuild and think that’s great. Had a run in with a builder that was a custom home for us. Built a 3000 sq. ft. two story cape code house but liked to go by daily to check on progress. Since this was a custom build I wanted to have it done well so when the contractor let me know his was building it to code. I let him know that just building to code was not what I expected or wanted .
I like these kinds of videos along with the others you put out. It shows the parts of the process that most people skip over. Yes I know how to do it but you can always learn different ways of doing things.
I am not a builder. I helped build NY family home in the 1960s. Boy have things changed! Not sawing by hand or using a screwdriver. I love seeing the tools and techniques used and I love the mental effort required to find the best approach.
These are the fun bits that will never be seen again once you put up the finishes/drywall. It's all good content, and will remind you of all those last 10% things you did to dial it in.
I like the vids like this, just 2 guys messing around in the shop, getting the details done. I'm not sure what makes it satisfying to watch, but it is.
Best part of my day is getting to see the build of any of your projects. I grew up with stick builds in the fifties through the seventies. A lot has changed since then.

That's awesome, because I think both you/your team and Matt/his team really care and actually put in an effort on what you're working on to make it right and not just get it done as fast as possible to make a quick buck and move on to the next project. I'm a little salty after our house build we just moved into... Without firsthand experience, it's impossible to know if any builder in one's local area will have the care and attention to detail to, you know, keep your water pipes from freezing up when you're not going to be able to heat your shop the first winter you're in the house... /rant Anyway, looking forward to this cross-over.

This building must be on the verge of breaking a world record for R-value! I don't think I've ever seen an interior wall with R30+ (if I did the math right). I'm not criticizing at all, I love it! I do things overkill as well. Keep it up, guys!

Show all that you can and let people see start to finish. Watching any video you do is educational and just fun to watch. Your shop is looking great and shows the excellent work you and Greg and others have performed to complete every step of construction. I doubt you could put out a boring video. Sometime you should show your video person and let them explain their great work to everyone.
The small finish work on a project ain't always technical but it's a massive part of the process to reach a good end result. Keep doing these types of videos! And as we usually get to enjoy Abit more of the banter and shittalk that's one of the reasons we all love working in construction and watching you to go at it Keep up the good work
Quick Tip for temporary attachment of your wafer lights, you can use cardboard stapled to rafters or joist with a hole cut for the light as a surface or even strips just to hold the flip clips on the sides until you actually finish the surface. Suggestion based on the light hanging in the stairway at 5:01 time stamp as well as in the RR RecRoom.
Kyle, my concrete is done, my sturdiwall brackets are installed and my trusses are coming tomorrow morning for a simple post frame that I will live in for the foreseeable future. I'm building this way because you showed me the benefits of the framing style and opened my eyes to modern building science. I have been thinking about this building for years and your videos have influenced every design aspect, so please share any/all details because while I don't DO anything "because" you said... I THINK about things "because" you said it and that's worth hearing.
Have you seen some of the other channels where if you do not pay for them you cannot watch them so you miss certain steps it's the greed The greed of money that you must pay to watch your video we've never even knew this was happening but we really enjoy these videos from Kyle and how he keeps up on just about everyone of the steps we really enjoy the videos this is just our opinion
Good vid Kyle. All of your content is useful. Adding the insulation to the girder wall will provide a lot of sound buffer from all the shop noise. Thanks for the vid!
It occurs to me a built in Hide-a-Hose vacuum system would be very handy for keeping the shop clean. You have room in the mechanical room and you still have time to put in hose runs to connection boxes.
If you put the mini split Ac over or near the stairwell. The cold air will end up down the stairwell. As cold air drops ,hot air rises . besides mini splits are nice . But the are in my opinion high maintenance . And yes I have five in my house. The filters on mini splits leave a lot to be desired . And cleaning the units requires a pressure wash of sorts . And while your building >Will most likely be more dust free than my house. >The unit will still need to be serviced . Love your videos by the way. Been watching you for several years now .
