When she won so many lipsyncs in quick succession in the Lipsync Smackdown, her reputation as a lipsyncer has been redeemed in the eyes of the fans. Couple that with the fact that most people who didn't like Silky in her original season found her AS6 version much easier to root for, it's clear that Silky has, indeed, received one of, if not the best redemption in drag race herstory.
Allstars 6 was up there with Allstars 2 for me. Great cast. Great redemptions, especially for Raja and Sonique. And Silky didn't win but she gave us one of the best episodes of drag race.
The only stain on the season is the mistreatment of the other half of the cast, or rather the no treatment at all. Actually were Pandora or Scarlet actually on AS6 ? Can't remember
Another thing i love about this twist is how objectively fair it is - like its easier to get back into the competition if you made it farther, rather than forgetting track record and giving serena and eureka the same level of challenge like every other returning queen twist has
It wasnt fair in a sense, because by the time silky got to the 3rd competitor, she'd already built momentum and the producers saw a potential storyline. Whereas had she lost against Scarlet or Jan, that episode would've been boring and pointless. So they kept declaring her the winner
Actually it wasn't the same level of challenge for Serena and Eureka at all. Serena would've had to win 8 lipsyncs without any losses to get back in the competition while Eureka only had to win 1. It wasn't fair, but it certainly was quality entertainment and one of my favorite episodes.

Their track records should have zero baring on their chances of coming back, because after all, each of them was eliminated just the same as the rest. And since you mentioned track record as being "objectively fair", between Scarlet and Akeria, Scarlet had a better track record even though she was eliminated first. Up until the episodes they were eliminated, Scarlet was always safe, while Akeria had previously been in the bottom twice. And they were eliminated just one episode apart. Akeria objectively had the worse track record yet had a better chance of returning with just 1 less lipsync to win. I could even argue that Scarlet had a better track record than Jan (Jan had 1 win and 2 bottoms), yet Jan had 2 less lip syncs. So even based on track record, it's still unfair. Great episode and a great twist that I'd really love to see again. But it's not actually fair. I can agree though that Eureka had the best track record of all the eliminated queens and Serena had the worst.

The thing that counts here and makes It fair is that people that advanced further in the completion don’t need to do as many lipsyncs like Serena Chacha, who was eliminated first. This is very fair actually, as it make sense that the first eliminated needs to „prove“ way more than the Top5 queen, that was present the whole season.
When Miss Silk with the good milk requested to still be able to perform Barbie Girl solo, she won my heart. I’m glad she did tho, such a fun performance. It would have truly been a waste had she not performed that ❤
Honestly if it wasn’t for the fact that every single episode before elimination Ru says “the eliminated queen will be immediately entered into the online fame games” I would have forgotten it was even a thing because it’s just so… lame?
This episode had so many quotable moments, most of them from Silky... "y'all must be scared if you brought me out first!" "YEAH IT'S ME, BITCH!" "AAAH, SILKY!"
I honestly think that without Silky’s absolute smackdown in the lip syncs in AS6, we would never have her perfect closer on Canada vs The World, culminating in a true, perfect redemption arc that almost saw her win and literally JUST miss it to a queen equally as deserving, bc their arcs were ultimately the same. So the same that you could’ve just given it an AS4 double win and it wouldn’t have hurt anything about the season.
Silky went from being one of the most universally disliked queens by the fandom, messy lip syncs (*cough* No Scrubs *cough) and a villain. To one of the most beloved queens by the fandom and having one of the best redemption storylines in drag race ever to winning 6 lip syncs on AS6. She honestly could have won Canada Vs The World also (but I am happy that Ra’Jah won)
I wish they’d had the budget for a double crowning bc the storyline of being friends across 3 seasons and winning together would have just been peak drag race
silky nutmeg ganache shouldve won canvstw. im sorry, rajahs win was only to patch up as6, bc she was nowhere to be found in the challenges or the storyline. that season was victorias or silkys to take. plus, silky had essentially the same storyline as rajah (hated her first time around, but later turning that around and ending a fan fave) but done better!! bc her 3rd season was not a victory lap, but rather the goldilocks of her 3 seasons

Gosh I was so excited for AS8 when the cast was revealed. It was like AS6 all over again, underrated girls having the perfect chance to show the world they've evolved into professionals. The so-so season we got aside, I was waiting for another smackdown, even though it would probably not surpass Silky's happy hour. Let down? Yes, but at least one is getting 50k so good for them I guess
The real production genius was not letting Silky win. They let her go on the highest of notes. We can just be honest, she wasn't going to do well in the monologue challenge and those that retrurn get back out unless they win. Rather than letting her momentum sputter and die, they let her go right at the peak of her story and that was really mercyful of them... But also, if she HAD come back, she would've been eliminated and TKB would've been in the finale, but let's not think about that.
You are so correct that every season should have some version of the fame games. If we're not going to give fair stipends and try to solve the issue of Queens going into bankruptcy to compete on the show, this is the least they can do, even though it only gives one queen actual money, and everyone else just gets exposure beyond what they would normally get posting their outfits on Instagram. For real though, the show rakes in an absurd amount of money, they could be giving away a lot more than they do.
I fully understand why Eureka won the smackdown and returned but god I was cheering so hard for Silky to come back. She may not have won the smackdown or the season, but she sure won a bunch of hearts.
at the end of the day this scenario is maybe even better for Silky - it would be tough for her to win anyways and her storyline was kinda perfectly bittersweet and made us root for her 1000% :))
I wish All Stars 8 was more like All Stars 6 in that it tried to give each Queen her own arc and story. All Stars 6 felt like giving each Queen her time in the spotlight while AS8 just steamroll everyone and plays favorite.
eh, we are always like 'production is to blame for everything' but you can't produce everything the fact that Silky slayed this episode so much was 100% organic and altho I am glad to see many AS8 queens (Jessica!!!) imo AS6 cast was just more stacked
My issue with AS8's twist is smth that Naysha has pointed out during one of Roscoe's viewing parties: the production wanted to showcase the queens' full package (like on AS7) but without paying them. It takes money to keep all the queens on set + I think a lot of girls went into it thinking they's follow AS7's rules i.e. no one's going home hence queens being shocked when Ru said they're following the "classic" AS rules
I wish the secret smackdown had been put onto the ends of the episodes and let us build up anticipation for seeing how Silky was going to slay every week
This twist would never have been as well received as it was without Silky. It was totally her episode and she shone all the way through. She made it brilliant and ever so thankful for her. 💖 Always love rewatching this episode and falling more in love with her and her lipsyncs each time.
This twist is very similar to Redemption Island in Survivor, and I just love both twists equally. Plus, it makes sense. The longer you stay in the actual competition, the fewer fights you have to put in the lip sync game within the game.
the huge problem with Redemption Island and Edge of Extinction is that they are pretty good in pre-merge but suck in post-merge I loved Edge with Reem in S38 - but Chris winning just put a bitter taste in my mouth (not that he did anything wrong!)
This episode was amazing because it redeemed the girls who participated in it, told the rise and fall of Silky (her final lip synch loss against Eureka was totally an unforced error, where the gimmick she used totally backfired on her, in contrast to Eureka's relatively straightforward lip synch), and helped refine the Lalaparuza from its first appearance on AS4. Also, having the other queens there giving commentary, hyping up the battling girls and getting as invested as us, and even the sad note as TKB realized that the outcome of the episode was going to be her downfall... It's perfect. Also Jack, you may want to check the description of the video, you forgot to remove the default stuff.
"I'm the lipsync battle, royal, extravaganza, dragapalooza, black lives matter, black excellence...QUEEN! Now get it today, b*tch" and "JAN JAN SHE IS A MAN" have to be among the best quotes to ever be said in RuPaul's Drag Race herstory. I had to pause my TV to laugh, Silky is a master in her craft
One thing that really surprised me was that noone has mentioned the elephant in the room: TKB being pissed off the whole episode because she knew she wouldve ATE if she was eliminated!
Ngl........I saw spoilers that said Silky was going to win all those lip syncs, and I had to see it to believe it and I also had to see if there was possible riggory in her favor. Well boy did Miss Silky prove me wrong! This was the best rudemption of the entire franchise!!!!!!
*Unpopular opinion* But I don’t like the weekly lip sync assassin or the format we’ve had since AS5 I think the lip sync showdown or Lala Palooza the should be instead replaced with a maxi challenge instead where the competing queens each lip sync to a mystery assassin. If they lose they are immediately in bottom for elimination. This can be a top 6 challenge called the Lip Sync Gauntlet.
The 1 winner of the maxi challenge each week is picked by the judges & subsequently a bottom 3 is picked for that week. The winner of the maxi challenge gets to SAVE one of the bottom 3 queens from lip syncing. That’s what I think the new format for All Stars should be.
All stars 6 I think may be one of those top tier drag race seasons that can’t be topped for many reasons. I feel like it may be my favorite all stars season!

She was ready to do so! Also, I fully cannot express how much I hate the smash cut to confessional mid lip sync. The "Free Willy" really kills the momentum of the Boss Bitch lip sync for a second. Really the one time I think it actually added something was Shuga Cain's "I am living! Come on cirque du soleil!"
By far and away my favourite episode of drag race. I sent Miss Ganache a tip after seeing it. I have never screamed as much at the screen as I did when watching this.
I don't really like drag race for the lipsyncs, they just aren't for me. There are a few where I'm LIVING, but for the most part I tune out and wait to hear who won. But this episode, I've come back multiple times to watch. SILKY IS A QUEEN AND DESERVES HER FLOWERS AND EVERYTHING ELSE!!
i dont think this twist was fair tbh it should have been tournament style. Jiggly would have to win 8 lipsynchs in a row to come back but Eureka only had to win 1. And if someone lipsynchs 8 times in 1 episode at the end of the season nothing they do in the lipsynch for the crown would get the win because you've pulled out every move and trick at that point so coming back is pointless. That's why people disliked the props because by the 7th lipsynch we knew a prop was coming. Tournament style you'd only have to do 3 lipsynchs if you won every one.
I wish they’d do away with the queens voting who gets to go home. It’s ruining the franchise and putting queens against queens. I understand the dramatic affect of it but this deep in I don’t believe it’s helping the All Stars seasons.

One of the biggest complaints about All Stars is that queens cant fight for their life in a lipsync. This gave that to the viewer and the queens (who will put as much effort as they can, unlike some of the LSAs). Even if its just for one episode, it satisfies this want and helps one of the complaints of All Stars
Eh, it was a good watch but after her solo it was always disappointing when she pulls out another gimmick and then it felt like rooting for the gimmick as the energy in the room immediatly went up from the gimmick. She should have lost to Jan who was doing amazing until someone gave her a guitar.
I hated that episode. Any episode full of just lip syncs is boring to me. The only lowkey good one was AS4, because of the revenge aspect. I hope they stop with all these lalaparuzas.
Yes! Either lipsync for your life or top 2 lip-sync against each other so there's stakes built instead of a random cameo of a past contestant (It was fun but its ran its course).
I feel like production did the lip sync smackdown after eurekas elimination just because Pandora was the one eliminated before her. If Silky came back everyone wouldve known that she stood no chance of winning so they needed someone to beat her. If Trinity wouldve been eliminated at top 6 i feel like that would be the universe where 1. the lip sync smackdown happens at a reasonable moment and 2. Where Trinity makes the finale
I'm not the biggest fan of Silky, however even I found myself rooting for her seeing everything she was bringing week after week, we finally got to see her absolutely kill it, and then, they of course made none of it matter in the competition because they close Eureka to come back, which, don't even get me started on her, over all as a viewer I enjoyed when it was happening, but found it rather anticlimactic having Silky do all that work basically for nothing in terms of competition. She wanted to come back so badly, which she didn't get to, but I'm glad she got to prove to everyone and herself that she still has some tricks up her sleeve, when she was going home you could see that she wasn't even that disappointed about not getting back in the end, she was just glad that she made her mark
Unpopular opinion : Jan beat silky 🤷♀️ Yeah Silkys Guitar reveal ate but in every one of her lipsyncs she was relying on props and reveals. Besides Jan did really good
It was just incredibly anticlimactic to have Silky win 6 times in a row to then lose against Eureka, who had just lost the last episode. It was obvious the producers really wanted Eureka in the finale, and she's great... but it would have been so much cooler for Silky to battle her way back to the top even though the producers weren't ever going to let her win the actual season.

tbh i feel like most of the twist seasons are more about the twists than the queens. ofc there are exceptions like as2 and the like but it feels like the queens are the set dressing to a show about twists and gimmicks.
so i was with some people talking and this is what we thought of. Fame games voting opens july 14th, most likely a week before the finale giving us 12 episodes which is consistent with the as seasons since as6. The remaining challenges we thought of being there is Design challenge, next episode. Talent show, Probably before the final. And finale song. And going by it we would have 2 people in finale. Which means we have a comeback episode or a non elim episode. With the lsa format its most likely to be a comeback as lsa has almost no room to have no elim unless they dont use lsa.
With having lip sync for your legacy format, we kinda lost the fights from these queens actually. Some of the best lip syncs from all stars are the queens had to lip sync to comeback. For example, Alyssa vs. Tatiana, Gia vs. Naomi, Latrice vs. Mo, and the lip sync smack down in all stars 6. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the top 2/lip sync assasins format. I just kinda hope to see the queens came back and lip synced again.
I really want allstars to start doing a LalaPARUZA half way through and each queen has to go up against a lipsync assasin. Have the top 2 from the lipsyncs have a lipsync for your legacy for cash then have the bottom 2 lipsync for your life.

i actually have a really good idea for a replacement for "lip sync for your legacy." the way it goes is instead of having the bottom queens fight it out, or the top queens do a victory lap, you have one of each. the winner of the challenge choses one of the bottom 2 to lip sync against. if the challenge winner wins the lip sync, the bottom queen goes home and the challenge winner wins the cash tip. but if the bottom queen wins, they get to stay for another week, and the cash tip rolls over into next week. this, in theory, should kill two birds, one stone. the bottom queen provides that drive that makes the lip syncs so good, but the top queen provides the comedy that makes them so entertaining. the only problem is if the season was full of front runners who were poor lipsyncers, because the cast would just never get any smaller, but they could easily just select the top two of any number regardless of how meany other queens there are.
My fantasy was All Stars 6 being a double crowning between Kylie and Raja, and Silky winning Canada vs the World because she served that whole season and the finale lip-syncs.

It takes money to keep all the queens on set + I think a lot of girls went into it thinking they's follow AS7's rules i.e. no one's going home hence queens being shocked when Ru said they're following the "classic" AS rules
I wish the secret smackdown had been put onto the ends of the episodes and let us build up anticipation for seeing how Silky was going to slay every week
Its been two years and I still havent recovered from "Jan, Jan, she's a man!"
This twist would never have been as well received as it was without Silky. It was totally her episode and she shone all the way through. She made it brilliant and ever so thankful for her. 💖 Always love rewatching this episode and falling more in love with her and her lipsyncs each time.
This twist is very similar to Redemption Island in Survivor, and I just love both twists equally. Plus, it makes sense. The longer you stay in the actual competition, the fewer fights you have to put in the lip sync game within the game.
the huge problem with Redemption Island and Edge of Extinction is that they are pretty good in pre-merge but suck in post-merge
I loved Edge with Reem in S38 - but Chris winning just put a bitter taste in my mouth (not that he did anything wrong!)
This episode was amazing because it redeemed the girls who participated in it, told the rise and fall of Silky (her final lip synch loss against Eureka was totally an unforced error, where the gimmick she used totally backfired on her, in contrast to Eureka's relatively straightforward lip synch), and helped refine the Lalaparuza from its first appearance on AS4. Also, having the other queens there giving commentary, hyping up the battling girls and getting as invested as us, and even the sad note as TKB realized that the outcome of the episode was going to be her downfall... It's perfect.

Ngl........I saw spoilers that said Silky was going to win all those lip syncs, and I had to see it to believe it and I also had to see if there was possible riggory in her favor. Well boy did Miss Silky prove me wrong! This was the best rudemption of the entire franchise!!!!!!
I hated this episode. I don't know why y'all were gagging for her lip syncs they were all gimmicky and predictable
*Unpopular opinion* But I don’t like the weekly lip sync assassin or the format we’ve had since AS5 I think the lip sync showdown or Lala Palooza the should be instead replaced with a maxi challenge instead where the competing queens each lip sync to a mystery assassin. If they lose they are immediately in bottom for elimination. This can be a top 6 challenge called the Lip Sync Gauntlet.
The 1 winner of the maxi challenge each week is picked by the judges & subsequently a bottom 3 is picked for that week. The winner of the maxi challenge gets to SAVE one of the bottom 3 queens from lip syncing. That’s what I think the new format for All Stars should be.
The only thing about this is how defeated TKB is because she knows whoever comes back will take her deserved stop in the finale

All stars 6 I think may be one of those top tier drag race seasons that can’t be topped for many reasons. I feel like it may be my favorite all stars season!

Also, I fully cannot express how much I hate the smash cut to confessional mid lip sync. The "Free Willy" really kills the momentum of the Boss Bitch lip sync for a second. Really the one time I think it actually added something was Shuga Cain's "I am living! Come on cirque du soleil!"

By far and away my favourite episode of drag race. I sent Miss Ganache a tip after seeing it. I have never screamed as much at the screen as I did when watching this.
I don't really like drag race for the lipsyncs, they just aren't for me. There are a few where I'm LIVING, but for the most part I tune out and wait to hear who won. But this episode, I've come back multiple times to watch. SILKY IS A QUEEN AND DESERVES HER FLOWERS AND EVERYTHING ELSE!!
i dont think this twist was fair tbh it should have been tournament style. Jiggly would have to win 8 lipsynchs in a row to come back but Eureka only had to win 1. And if someone lipsynchs 8 times in 1 episode at the end of the season nothing they do in the lipsynch for the crown would get the win because you've pulled out every move and trick at that point so coming back is pointless. That's why people disliked the props because by the 7th lipsynch we knew a prop was coming. Tournament style you'd only have to do 3 lipsynchs if you won every one.
I wish they’d do away with the queens voting who gets to go home. It’s ruining the franchise and putting queens against queens. I understand the dramatic affect of it but this deep in I don’t believe it’s helping the All Stars seasons.
I don't think this would have been half as good without silky though

One of the biggest complaints about All Stars is that queens cant fight for their life in a lipsync. This gave that to the viewer and the queens (who will put as much effort as they can, unlike some of the LSAs). Even if its just for one episode, it satisfies this want and helps one of the complaints of All Stars

Eh, it was a good watch but after her solo it was always disappointing when she pulls out another gimmick and then it felt like rooting for the gimmick as the energy in the room immediatly went up from the gimmick. She should have lost to Jan who was doing amazing until someone gave her a guitar.

I feel like production did the lip sync smackdown after eurekas elimination just because Pandora was the one eliminated before her. If Silky came back everyone wouldve known that she stood no chance of winning so they needed someone to beat her. If Trinity wouldve been eliminated at top 6 i feel like that would be the universe where 1. the lip sync smackdown happens at a reasonable moment and 2. Where Trinity makes the finale

I'm not the biggest fan of Silky, however even I found myself rooting for her seeing everything she was bringing week after week, we finally got to see her absolutely kill it, and then, they of course made none of it matter in the competition because they close Eureka to come back, which, don't even get me started on her, over all as a viewer I enjoyed when it was happening, but found it rather anticlimactic having Silky do all that work basically for nothing in terms of competition. She wanted to come back so badly, which she didn't get to, but I'm glad she got to prove to everyone and herself that she still has some tricks up her sleeve, when she was going home you could see that she wasn't even that disappointed about not getting back in the end, she was just glad that she made her mark
Unpopular opinion : Jan beat silky 🤷♀️ Yeah Silkys Guitar reveal ate but in every one of her lipsyncs she was relying on props and reveals. Besides Jan did really good
It was just incredibly anticlimactic to have Silky win 6 times in a row to then lose against Eureka, who had just lost the last episode. It was obvious the producers really wanted Eureka in the finale, and she's great... but it would have been so much cooler for Silky to battle her way back to the top even though the producers weren't ever going to let her win the actual season.
The fame game runway should be at the end of the dr episode and not untucked. Also think pit stop shouldve covered the fame game runways.

tbh i feel like most of the twist seasons are more about the twists than the queens. ofc there are exceptions like as2 and the like but it feels like the queens are the set dressing to a show about twists and gimmicks.

Rip this makes little to no sense as someone that is unable to keep up with the seasons
so i was with some people talking and this is what we thought of. Fame games voting opens july 14th, most likely a week before the finale giving us 12 episodes which is consistent with the as seasons since as6. The remaining challenges we thought of being there is Design challenge, next episode. Talent show, Probably before the final. And finale song. And going by it we would have 2 people in finale. Which means we have a comeback episode or a non elim episode. With the lsa format its most likely to be a comeback as lsa has almost no room to have no elim unless they dont use lsa.

With having lip sync for your legacy format, we kinda lost the fights from these queens actually.
Some of the best lip syncs from all stars are the queens had to lip sync to comeback.
For example, Alyssa vs. Tatiana, Gia vs. Naomi, Latrice vs. Mo, and the lip sync smack down in all stars 6.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the top 2/lip sync assasins format.
I just kinda hope to see the queens came back and lip synced again.
I really want allstars to start doing a LalaPARUZA half way through and each queen has to go up against a lipsync assasin. Have the top 2 from the lipsyncs have a lipsync for your legacy for cash then have the bottom 2 lipsync for your life.

You are so correct that every season should have some version of the fame games. If we're not going to give fair stipends and try to solve the issue of Queens going into bankruptcy to compete on the show, this is the least they can do. The show rakes in an absurd amount of money, they could be giving away a lot more than they do.
i actually have a really good idea for a replacement for "lip sync for your legacy." the way it goes is instead of having the bottom queens fight it out, or the top queens do a victory lap, you have one of each. the winner of the challenge choses one of the bottom 2 to lip sync against. if the challenge winner wins the lip sync, the bottom queen goes home and the challenge winner wins the cash tip. but if the bottom queen wins, they get to stay for another week, and the cash tip rolls over into next week. this, in theory, should kill two birds, one stone. the bottom queen provides that drive that makes the lip syncs so good, but the top queen provides the comedy that makes them so entertaining. the only problem is if the season was full of front runners who were poor lipsyncers, because the cast would just never get any smaller, but they could easily just select the top two of any number regardless of how meany other queens there are.
