What a gentleman !!! Watching the end of this piece of film holding that young girl. A very precious moment in her life !! Bet you wouldn't get many stars if any doing that to a fan these days. Probably too wrapped up in their own self-importance!! !!
This was in the Netherlands. He was on the first TV-music show for young people. Dave Berry was a breakout star with This Strange Effect and his stage act (his two hands, with spread fingers and palms outward, covered his face, which he then revealed by sliding his hands apart.) Girls were in love, and us guys tried to imitate him with our hair and wearing the same bracelet. I was a boy of 10 years and had a huge poster of Dave on the wall above my bed. And a bracelet. A circus-director, Tony Boltini, then brought Dave to the Netherlands for some performances. Besides Beatle-mania, instantly there was also a Dutch Dave Berry-mania. To protect Dave from the crowds, Tony Boltini had him transported in a lion-cage truck from his circus. That is what you see here in this video. All good fun. Great times.
I was there on the Museumplein, Amsterdam on February 5, 1966. My high school, I was 12 years old, was around the corner. It was not allowed to go, but we went there anyway. Later on that afternoon police charged us with motorbikes with policemen with long sticks. First time I saw police violence. Never forget that day!
Waardevolle herinnering.
I'm Gonna Take You There.
Loved Dave since the 60's, finally saw him live in Birmingham, met him afterwards & got some lovely pics with him. Amazing guy, fantastic stage presence & still love his music.
This is a song by the majestic British band "The Kinks" and his composer and lead singer is Sir Ray Davies, one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
Ray's & the Kinks version sounds much more mysterious soulful & less prefabricated & commercial in MHO but don't get me wrong this version obviously has its merits & will definitely be held highly by those who heard this version of the song first, its all subjective anyway, & I'm not Like Everybody Else Peace & cheers ;-)
Love this song, I saw Adam Ant sing this 4 nights running in Islington, North london, 2014, He did a great job covering this song 👍👍
