Nice video. Just got my IGC 1959 ES-355 in Ebony today. My very first semi-hollow body. And it’s fantastic. It’s VOS. But, I prefer gloss. As expected, it’s got those sharp fret ends. Other than that, craftsmanship is flawless. For me, it looks, feels and plays great. It’s got that woody and airy tone. Cheers!

To all the people whining about the price, the pickups alone are 500 bucks. The specs are there. If you don't like it don't buy it. It's really that simple.
The higher end epiphone 335s like the marty schwartz signature and the jim james signature costing 900 bucks. Take the cost of the pickups and add that to the price of the high end 335s and add that to the cost of one of the aforementioned guitars and you get a price tag of 1400 dollars. The sticker price on these is 1300 dollars. I for one think this is a killer deal and the open book headstock is a nice touch.

I'd love to see someone x-ray the back of the headstock to see if there's a scarf joint. My guess is probably so being an import, but I don't mind a scarf joint. I own two recently made Epiphone guitars from China in a Broadway and 150th Anniversary Sheraton. The quality is top notch. I've bought Epiphones throughout the years starting back in 2008 and the quality of the Chinese made guitars back then left a lot to be desired. Now? They are very well built and I struggle to find flaws with the two I have. My Epi ES-355 is arriving tomorrow and I expect it to continue the trend of great build quality. I'd say for everything you get they are priced right.

I don’t have a semi-hollow body Epiphone. Makes me want to get one. But, the VOS finish is a deal-breaker for me as I prefer high-gloss. I can buff it to a mirror-like finish but it’s a lot of work. Maybe I should wait. Hope they come up with more color options. I got one of these a couple days ago and while it sounds great, the QC on the fretboard was terrible. Frets were very scratchy everywhere, ends were very sharp. The ebony fretboard had a couple of cracks, and the nut was completely loose. And the toggle selector switch had a cream tip instead of the amber one! It was interesting to see that yours had the cream one as well. How was the rest of QC on yours?

I think this new line of Epiphone’s is great. People are gonna throw a fit about a non-nitro finish and maybe a little bit of the price but realistically, a real Gibson 335 is gonna run you between $4k - $8k and if I can get that look, feel and sound for 1/4 of the price I’m all about it. I’ve owned multiple Gibson’s and Epiphone’s and Epiphone’s can be just as solid as a Gibson. Anyone saying it sounds any different is either a liar or completely jaded. Gibson seems to be tired of Epiphone being an entry level line, and I’m okay with this.

I think they could justify having these higher end Epiphones built in the USA or at least Mexico like Fender does, that's my main sticking point with these price points. You get a great guitar, no doubt, but I think it would be a good way to justify the more expensive Epiphone line. I really don't care too much about nitro vs poly too much and I actually like these satin finishes a lot

I truly have to question number one this is not a $500 upgrade because of the pick ups maybe in a retail environment but you’re not buying just pick ups you’re buying the whole guitar and certainly we do see upgrades here but do we see enough upgrades to justify this over the Eastman T4 86 or even a used Eastman T5 9Z either way I just wonder if it’s as good as the Eastman at this point because I think that’s who they’re trying to compete with I’m not sure they’re going to do it but I certainly think they’re trying the Phone 59 Gibson less Paul models will not compete with Eastman. I’m not sure what that goal is but either way Think they have an over abundance of these pick ups. I certainly think it is no more expensive for them to produce the custom pick ups versus the burst pick ups. Either way it’s probably about $55 a pair cost for Gibson so let’s don’t think that they’re giving away the bank here and they’re certainly not trying to take the bank away either. I think it’s a fairly reasonable price for the guitar, either way thanks for a great demo. Just wanted to know what you thought this did against the Eastman because the guitar space reviews is clear that the regular Gibson ES 335 cannot stand up to the Eastman T4 86 and built quality pretty amazing. 3:17 3:20 3:22

@@Panic42000 the problem is if you look at the boutique market when you have Righteous Sound throwback rewind whiz and many other boutique wonders who are making much better pick ups in Gibson why would you upgrade the guitar to Gibson pick ups anyway unless you are Gibson accompany you say the price of the pick ups is what matters hell for $300 I can get a price or excuse me set of pick ups from X4 that blow these out of the water, so why would I even bother explore the tones? I’ve been doing it for 40 years i’m just saying the upgrades are not worth the money. If you’re looking at value for your dollar the Eastman guitar is a better value and you can put any pick ups you want but if you look at the reviews hell, the Duncan pick ups win on RUclips reviews I don’t like them so I have changed them out in my own guitars, but I don’t like the custom Gibson pick ups that much either I like Righteous Sound lust for tone throwback and rewind I have 24 guitars that use PAF pick ups semi hollow and solid body but my opinion on this is it’s a great product for the people that buy it and I hope they enjoy it and it’s worth to the person what it’s worth that’s an individual deal enjoy and good luck with your guitar.
