  • Daily Vlog #2: 3D Theory here! In this video I run you through my daily morning routine with running this tiny print farm using the Bambu Lab A1. I also compare my experience with the A1 to the Creality CR-10 SE and how they differ. I mention that I use PETG filament and how I aim to keep a steady temperature in the room by using a thermometer and a window fan for venting. In future vlogs we'll be venturing outside of the 3D printing room and see the world of movie studios that's nearby. Join me on this daily vlog :)

    when editing you can add a noise gate on the audio channel that when setup right removes breathing noises, just a tip for more professional videos!

    You should buy 1 AMS-Lite and put all the spools with little filament on them on there. The AMS-lite will automatically use up all the remaining filament and then switch to another spool after the first one is finished. That way you don't waste any filament.

    • @3DTheory
      @3DTheory  Месяц назад

      Hi, thank you for the comment! I ended buying a 5th A1 with the AMS-lite that I have yet to open. I got it as a spare. That idea crossed my mind, and now that you mention it too, I’ll give it a go :)

      How is it switching from spool to spool? Will it take all remaining thread, or will leave some on a spool?
      I just wield short length of thread to the next spool when I print. I have filament movement sensor and it leaves 40cm when detects runout. I use PTFE tube and lighter to connect it to new spool and that's all. I guess 40cm does not really change anything, but I like the idea that I used all of the filament. = )) It is more psychology than economy.

    • @3DTheory
      @3DTheory  Месяц назад

      @@enosunim To my delight, when I walk in to a print that has paused for need of a filament swap, I look up and see that all the filament on the spool has been used completely :)

    • @enosunim
      @enosunim Месяц назад +1

      @3DTheory there is small piece of filament in the head left, it will just purge it away when you install new spool. It depends where filament runout switch is located. My DIY motion sensor is quite large, so I placed it on X profile and connected with PTFE to the head. Bambu have runout switch just before feeder gears, so it will trigger later. But it does not detect motions. Every solution have its pros and cons = )

    • @3DTheory
      @3DTheory  Месяц назад

      @enosunim that’s good to know, especially when I’m feeding a new spool in, but nonetheless it still works great as a filament run out detector - the best I’ve ever used :)

  • @enosunim

    Yep, I was also annoyed by beeping of my Ender 3. But later I just reconfigured the firmware and now it is silent. = ) I know people just taped the speaker. But in case of Balbulab it will not help, as far as I know there is no speaker. And firmware reconfigure is also not an option. So... You can only enjoy that sound. It is nicer than Ender 3 beep though.
    Also I may be mistaken, but when I copied some balbulab profiles (to my Ender 3, to print fast) I saw startup GCODE of those printers, and that GCODE is very long. I think I saw some comment about 'startup sound'. So maybe, you can just edit startup GCODE and remove all that unnecessary tests and calibrations and sounds. Well if you want of course. They say that those printers are like iPhones among 3d printing. And nobody tinkers with iPhones. If Apple removes headphone jack, then you just buy wireless phones. Not because you had to, but because you wanted to. = ) At least they say so. = )
    I also like to come in the morning for fresh print, there is something in it.
    Also I could not say that Bambu profiles are silent. At least for X1 Carbon. I copied template to print PETG from there. And they turn model coolers to %40 permanently and if layer time is less then 12 seconds it goes up to %90. I just copied that. And sometimes it works like a turbine yes. = ) I have two 5015 fans for model cooling. But the quality is amazing that's for sure. I think Bambulab engineers done a good work. Will definitely copy other profiles from Bambu Studio.

    How do u get your prints so smooth and clean?

    • @3DTheory
      @3DTheory  Месяц назад

      Hi, thanks for the comment! I use PETG filament with the Bambu Lab A1, and its generic PETG settings help achieve that smooth, clean finish. In general with using PETG, adjusting nozzle temp, fan speed, retraction, and print speed is key but in my case I didn’t have to do any of that. Bambu Lab’s generic PETG settings were spot on :) Check out today’s vlog for more details: ruclips.net/video/w1HAnAkFL0g/видео.htmlsi=e5KYAW9vCK-ClkMc

      @@enosunim yes I have thought about it now I don’t know if going with a good printer or a beginner machine, I am also afraid if I go Bambú Lab x1c then they will release the next machine. They sure will release new model. You know, they say you need to buy new iPhone every year. And they say Bambu is iPhone among 3d printers = )
      I guress A1 mini is a good start. It is relatively cheap and if you do not want to print ABS or some fibered plastics it is quite alright. (there is a hack to make it heat print bed to 100C though, and you can just cover it with a plastic bag and print ABS anyway. But hey, if you want to tinker - better buy $100 Ender3 = )

      @@enosunim thanks for the advice, but I want a machine with less time setting up and more print time. Don’t want to have a bad experience with 3D printing, while trying to setup or frustrating myself in aligning/leveling and troubleshooting, when I don’t have any clue on 3D printer. It’s good to learn while you build but honestly don’t have the time to put a machine together and setup. I might grab a A1 mini in the meantime.

      @3DTheory  Месяц назад

      Hi, thank you for the comment! I explore different ways to make the most of my printers, both for fun and potential income. With a tiny print farm, it’s hard to make it a main income source, but as one scales, it can definitely become a main income source. It’s all about finding what works best for you. Maybe give it a try and see how it goes for making some extra money each month :)

      @@3DTheory if I know what to sell or how to sell it I absolutely would. I struggle with understanding how much to charge for things as well as shipping and at the end of it will I make money or just people saying this is a cheap 3D printed thing and want a refund.

    • @3DTheory
      @3DTheory  Месяц назад +1

      @97JoMiller Navigating pricing and sales can be tricky, for sure. It might help to start by checking out what similar items are going for, to set competitive prices. Consider your material costs, time, and effort when setting prices. As for concerns about refunds, clear communication about the product upfront can help manage customer expectations. Plus there is a market for specifically 3D printed products. Maybe try starting small to gauge interest and get a feel for what works and if you actually like doing it before scaling. I hope this helps :)
