    Pro tip from my vet for everyone that wants to take care of a newborn or baby small mamal: Put warm (not hot) water inside some bottles and wrap them around a not too thick towel or blanket and place the bottles around the animal. Make sure that the bottles cant roll on the animal and change the water every 3 hours because the water gets cold!

  • @frogonthebikeheh

    It didn't make it because it got hypothermia. I know you guys tried your best, but when babies are born, the mother makes a nest before birth and warms them up with her body, the optimal temperature of the baby mouse is around 39/40°C.
    So he should have been covered in a nest and under a lamp with red light.
    I've been breeding mice for a while and when mother deserts the babies and if there's no other mouse that can "adopt" the baby, it is very hard to keep the pup alive.

    Leaving it alone in the box at night wasn’t a great idea I say take it to a vet or do research. U must keep it warm since every newborn animal needs to be kept warm and that box probably wasn’t cutting it. (This isn’t hate just advice if they find more baby mice)

    • @HangWithTheBangs
      @HangWithTheBangs  Год назад +11

      Hi thanks! We actually called around to vets, rescue places, a local zoo and pet stores, but since the mouse was wild, sadly no one would take it. We did do research but sadly not much is out there online for newborn mice. There was heat pad under the box and we woke up ever 2 hours to feed it and check on it. Did the best we could for the circumstances. I do think it got cold though, but I also wonder why the mom never came and got it and wonder if maybe it was sick?

    • @Nadia7_13

    As a person who raised a pinky herself it’s harder than hell to care for them. They eat every three hours and poop. They have to be in a styrofoam container with a heating pad. This is twenty 24 hours of no sleep and even brought him to work . I cried for 3 weeks. I even cried when he ate solid food. Grilled cheese sandwhich . I had to do a mixture of yogurt and avocados and bananas with the most expensive baby formula of no soy . It was the hardest thing to do. He died twice . I gave him rat cpr . The whole exsperience was worth it. He grew up to be a great pet rat. But I don’t recommend it. I only did it because his mom wasn’t producing milk and ate everyone of his siblings but him.

    I'm almost sure it's a baby squirrel , but honestly you all did everything right except for not putting it under a heat lamp, even a blanket will never keep it warm, at that point in life they cannot regulate body heat, leaving it in the box although under a blanket that night was what ended the pup, but the constant feedings and belly rubs to help poop was spot on. it's a good experience tho to teach your kids about life.

      @HangWithTheBangs illness is a fair guess, when I found baby mice, I went out and bought a female mouse because they're better suited to take care of them than I. Stimulating the mouses genitals is important as well as their inner muscles are still developing. Depending on how hot it was out, mightve been an idea to even keep it in the car with a window cracked. Glad you even stopped to take care of it, I worried about some of mine that I found, but when I find one with a noticeable birth defect, I freeze it so I don't just perpetuate its suffering. Humans can't ignore animals any longer, our own negligence has led to the death of billions

    That's the hard part about helping small animals. Often times they DO NOT make it. More often than we'd like to think. Realistically there is generally a reason baby animals are abandoned. And then we find out why. The issue is we aren't whatever the animal is we are helping. Otherwise we'd be able to help them much much better. It goes both ways though. An animal can't help a human simply cause they aren't human and don't know what a human baby needs to survive. R.i.p. baby mouse. Hopefully it gets a second chance

    I just saved a baby mouse all on my own, what I did was I got a container with breathing holes because a cardboard box wouldn't hold a baby mouse and I put tea towels and blankets in and it went out of shock in a half hour. After its out of shock I have it water cheese and bread crumbs because it was older than 28 days

    You people are nuts. That's a rodent you found in your car. If given the opportunity, that same rat will not hesitate for a second before doing $5000 damage to your car.

      check the comments here, there were lots of ideas on how to take care of baby mouse. Mostly, keep it warm. I heard dogs milk supplement was a good thing to feed them, but then lots of comments had other ideas that could work too. Good Luck!

    I need your help, we found a mother mouse and set it free in some woods, then later on we see 2 baby mice maybe like 20 days old?? and there mums gone so there all on there own, we put them in a box, and put sawdust as a bedding with straw on top to keep them warm and there not eating, there eyes ain’t fullly open but we don’t know what to do?

    • @HangWithTheBangs
      @HangWithTheBangs  Год назад

      oh I am so sorry! Maybe there are some local animal shelters that could take them? Not all places do, sadly we couldn't find one. On the comments here a few people mentioned feeding the mice with a clean paint brush that is small so it doesn't give off to much milk at a time. Keep them warm (heating pad, warm water bottle). In the comments there are some other ideas that could hopefully help!

    The reason for the baby mice can’t get enough heat in n their body you can prevent then from passing away by putting a heating under a planket then put a cool water bottle on the other side just in case it gets to hot hope that helps RIP 🪦 ❤
