@@thatjetta50 That’ll def surprise some people! Would you say it’s a big difference from stock turbo with uni stage 2? I think you were making around 300 on the stock turbo. And did you have to add any additional mods to support the is38?
@@redvw1639 Yea the is38 makes a huge difference. It's like going from stock to stage 2 all over again. There's a whole bunch of stuff required for the swap but I have replaced all charge pipes, intake, downpipe, and hpfp.
@@thatjetta50 I want to do a turbo swap but I’m a long ways away from that. Good to see another mk6.5 running it tho so I get an idea of what it’s like. Were there any other turbo options you were considering before going with the is38?
@@willie123811 it should but for mk6 Jettas I think you have to reverse the direction of the air intake or something, not as simple for us as it is for the mk7’s sadly
My literal dream bro Could you make a vid where u go into detail on how u did the is38 swap? I have a mk6 gen 3 GLI and I’ve always wanted to do this but I’ve read that u have to reverse the whole intake direction or something Thanks bro ur car is hot 🔥👌
Honestly since all of the work is done it would be hard to explain better than the documents on the projectgen3gli facebook page. If you ever tackle it and need help hit me up on Instagram @thatjetta
i got a neuspeed intercooler too... cts piping everywhere else, Chinese intake manifold, unitronic turbo back. Would probably have to redo my piping in order to go mqb?
The MQB setup has more potential if I want to keep adding power. You swap to MQB parts like the intake, downpipe, charge pipes, coolant lines, turbo supply lines, etc. There is a whole guide on the projectgen3gli facebook page.
I would rate it at like 7/10 difficulty for me. I have no real experience working on cars I just follow the diagrams and watch how to vids on everything. I recently replaced my dsg transmission and I think that was a little easier than when I did the turbo. I ended up spending close to $3,000 total.
Honestly I've been getting used to how much throttle it can handle so it hasn't been terrible. But full throttle it spins a tiny bit in 3rd at about 3.5k rpm. 55 roll is the sweet spot for sure.
Please keep posting 🔥🔥🔥 you're keeping the MK6's alive everyone else gave up your Jetta is heat🔥
Thank you, I definitely will be
That intro is fireeee
Thanks lol, I wasn't expecting the GoPro to fall over but it ended up being sick
Do you still have the Jetta? Fellow ISxx swap GLI here haha!
Yes still got it!
Sounds so good 🔥
Fuck shes quick now
Good to see you back! What hp/tq did Reflect claim you would get with the is38 swap?
Thanks man, I didn't get any claims from Reflect on power but it should be around 350

Yea for sure

Lovely! I LOVE IT! I really want that ECS exhaust, and now it’s even more rowdy with the IS38! How does it feel?
The car is a beast, one of the meanest 4cyl out there. With the is38 it just keeps pulling where stock felt weak after 80ish mph.

Correct
any reason for going is38 over a non mqb kit? and what all did you need to swap to make it work?

Timing chain done?
No, at 96k miles now and the chain is still within spec
This is why i don't like downpipes. Sounds awful.
that's why you go downpipe + oem catback, the best combination
