Reining*
That'd be scary though
Bravo to those who actually let go of the reins.
Ginny Potter I always let go of the reins, I think I just get so scared when I fall of that I just let my self fall without holding on to anything lol
Sometimes it can be so surprising where your still in shock and your natural instinct is to just hold something. But I get where your coming from.
【Failure】 haha yea I’m the opposite
【Failure】 I will get it if it’s occasional that you hold the reins. But when people always do it it’s annoying. You should train yourself not to. I love how you don’t most of the time though!🥳👍🏻
@@wisterianaka.9550 I agree however some people do not ride often enough / have their own horse / fall off enough to be able to train themselves not to as, like Failure said, its not your natural instinct to do so.

Honestly some of these horses just decided “you know what. I’m done. Nope. You do it.”
I think they think "I'm bored...oh..we're jumping?.....You first!"

It’s funny
Well it’s not the rider it’s the horse you know when it’s a horribly trained horse when the rider is giving enough leg but the horse dirty stops.

3:50 I’m pretty sure that horse broke its darn neck, that looks hella painful for the horse.
I don't think so. The way it landed wasn't the worst.. OK it was bad but not too bad.. Yes there would maybe be an injury though
and the rider?
Whenever a horse falls, my heart STOPS. This is a 1-2000 animal FLOPPING on its side. It’s a lot more dangerous than a human, that weighs around 125 pounds landing on its side. But then again we are more fragile.
Not necessarily. It certainly bent a lot, but it didn’t look like it broke or anything. However, we also didn’t get to see what happened after, so it may have broken, or perhaps the it got lucky and didn’t.
My story how I almost fell off: So I was riding a 2,3 Oxer line and right in the middle horse got MAD and started bucking and doing mini rears but then my left leg came out and I was like yup my time to Faaaaallll then the horse stopped at I was like whhhat?! yay I didnt die 😁
But it's scary, right!? I don't get why this video is like "MUST WATCH" because I don't think that these painful experiences are things to laugh at.

Megan Abraham gotta do something in quarantine :))
0:38 I cannot describe how loudly I shouted at my screen “let go of your reins they are attached to your horses head”
Her foot was caught in the stirrup, but I understand that it's frustrating to see.
Her foot was stuck in the stirrup
Faith Stables her foot was still stuck in her stirrup and she didn’t want to get dragged around as her horse might’ve freaked out if she hadn’t been tugging at the reins
tugging at the reins makes it worse! I've been dragged lots of times before but holding the reins makes it worse. When the horse bolts wiggle your foot and it falls out, hold the horses head and it wants to get away more cause it is already scared. Being fearful of being dragged doesn't warrant holding the reins and tugging
Click off it then.
2:52 That is why when you fall let go of the reins. Her arm got bent around that pole
It's a natural reaction, you can tell she didn't mean to hold on.
It’s human instinct -.-
Rather have your horse run far away near a dangerous road for example?, or it stepping on the reins and breaking its jaw?
It doesn’t hurt the horse to pull it the opposite direction, only if it’s against the mouth. Only thing it would hurt would be behind the ears..
But sometimes things happen so quickly and you don’t even have time to react or do anything in the situation of falling off, it’s just instinct..
people saying its a natural reaction have probably never ridden one 😭 my NATURAL reaction is to hold on to the saddle, not the reins
очень одинокий believe me I have 10 years experience. A fall happens before you can do anything. Our instinct tells us to hold on to something, which is often a combi off the reins and the saddle, but as I said it usually happens before you can react so you stick to the reins. It’s hard not to
I hate how some riders keep dragging their horses in the mouth >:/
most people know to let go they just get scared and hold on to whatever they can, but yes it you can let go of the reins.
No not only when they fall off! They drag when their just sitting on the horse, way before falling off.
@@minimoonie6431 YES! I saw so many people in this video using the reins for their balance, no wonder their horses didn't go the way they had hoped
MissEmily1129 yeah, i hope they learn from their mistakes
?ᗰꭵηꭵ ᗰooŋꭵꮛ¿ can we also just say that it might not be the best way to handle but sometimes in those moments it’s all u thinking I know I have don’t it and it saved me from getting to broken arms so don’t hate if you are not the rider and if you haven’t been in that scary situation before if u have I’m sorry

People need to start letting go of there reins
Isn’t it first instinct to leg go when falling? I fell of twice for the first time today first thought wait til he stops galloping try holding on and let go if you can’t get up
No! It’s important to hold your reins when you fall the horse won’t bolt or be able to rear
They really do. The first time I fell of a horse I had kind of just decided that it wasn’t going to end well before it even happened so the first thing I did was let go not hold on
I much rather hold on the reins when I’m not hurting my horse rather than him freaking out running out of the ring and getting hit

Also bravo, y'all fell as gracefully as you could
0:35 me when I do my best at riding:
The person in the background said *trot on* why tho
One of my falling experiences was when I had first gotten my bb, he was pretty new to the area but he had been trained for years and was a super calm and chill horse, we'd been together a while but he was my friends horse and was now coming to live with me. Anyways, one day I was taking him around the property, as we usually do, and the next door mares started acting up, and so he did too. Tried bucking me off, which I was not having and managed to stay on, so he took off and then I started slipping off the side and when I finally let go of the saddle I ended up tumbling down in front of his left side and he kicked me so hard in the ribs, I had a hoof print there for a week, along with a big bruise. Yeah, not fun, but thinking back on it now, it must've been funny to watch, I was clinging for dear life and just holding the saddle as much as I could without pulling the reigns, cuz I'd let myself fall and get hurt before I start pulling on his mouth like that.

@@meganparisroseabraham7055 you'd probably hurt your shoulder/spine and neck also if you did that. but that fall so quicker than you could blind, she probably didn't even realise she fell until she did...
When falling you don’t have time to think how to fall. It happens within a blink of an eye and those few secs it’s out instinct taking over. Also, falling just happens
Ellite Equine exactly, at that point our instinct takes over
How to let go of the reins... realize your about to fall of and let go don’t make it worse than it needs to be!
Falling often happens so fast you don’t have time to react. Our brains automatically give the sign to hold on to something to break a fall, also, your surroundings at the time you fall matter just as much
A horse shying is at 30mph average (I think that speed is right!?) it’s quite quick, so quick you don’t have enough time to react with “right my horse is shying and I’m gonna fall so lemme just let go of the reins” that’s not how our brain works either, we grab hold of anything to stop from falling even though it doesn’t work sometimes. So yes let go of the reins if you can but if not then try not to pull on them too much
9:36 who has a pink saddle tell me who?
Evri Koutsogiannaki it’s a saddle cover

@@maisymoo670 it isnt
Things to improve on...
1. Stop holding on and just fall off
2. Stop rushing the horses
3. STOP PULLING IN THEIR MOUTH HARD!
It's an instinct to hold onto the reins when falling off, second; they aren't rushing the horses, either the horses got spooked, have a lot of energy, dont feel comfortable yet, or the rider is doing something that's not right, none of these clips are rushing the horses.
It’s an instinct to hold on. And some horses like to rush them if they are in the mood. So it’s very confusing when you pull to slow them down. Making it look like your yanking the reins.

And when did I say OMG so many times ??
@@susannamarais4574 that’s rood. They actually are really strong BUT when they fall this is a 1-2000 pound animal falling on its bones and if horses break a bone, you will most likely have to put it to sleep. So yes, they are strong but when they do get hurt it’s real bad.
3:02 that’s literally the position I was in today first time I fell off before falling off

Good job to those that don’t depend on the horses neck or reins for 2-point support

Ok so storytime
The first time I was about to fall off my horse, I was galloping to my feet. Everything was fine, until I lost a stir and lost my balance. To avoid falling, I instinctively let go of the reins and clung to my horse's neck as I tried to push myself back up with the other leg left in the stirrup.
