And maybe the parents shouldn't make a joke out of it and post it online so everyone can talk about how the youngest probably cares more about the toddler and is nicer? So maybe the older kids don't resent the baby and feel like they have no chance and building a bond with him? Just a thought.

They don’t spend time with him unfortunately. So it is what it is.
The youngest was gesticulating and happy. The middle was slightly animated with some claps, maybe a bit loud for baby. And oldest couldn’t muster a smile.
They’re all too young to know but their body language sealed the outcome.

Younger sister plays with him way more than the older ones do. 😂
Because she hasn't started school yet but the older ones have to go to school and activities and playdated etc away from the baby.

4 great-grandchildren. I've had daycares and taught preschool. In all my experience with children, no matter the child's age they always have a great connection with the youngest person in the room.

The little sister is more on his level. She genuinely interacts with him. My kids are 2 years apart. When they were young, they would have these intense conversations. My wife and I had no idea what the hell they were talking about. My daughter would translate their conversations to us. Even then, we only understood half of it.

It’s actually kind of mean. As a parent you don’t like it when your child says,” I don’t like you” it hurts your feelings. His little girls aren’t mature enough to understand not to take this personal. The baby is going to go to whoever gives him a free ride. No correction, no limitations. Or laying down the law while they’re changing his diaper. I’m guessing the baby girl doesn’t change diapers yet. The baby acts like a dog whoever feeds them is the one they love. Whoever shows praise and attention is the one he’ll love until he grows up.

Babies are easily trained. Holding hands out with key phrases and using sugar to encourage them to come to you is cemented. If anyone else uses these, the kid will soon learn you are the only one with treats and will ignore anyone else.
Older children can be manipulated with empty promises and lies of the other parent.
Having a say is one thing but def wouldn't dismiss everything else like finances and mental stability.

No, not a good plan. Plus imagine if a child wants to be with the parent who let him stay up at night, doesn't make him shower, gives him all the sweets he wants, doesn't make him go to school. Not a good idea.
