It isn't e-bikes that are the problem - it's the kids who don't GAF about the rules of the road and do whatever they want regardless of consequences and this overreaction by the cities is absolutely ridiculous!
Wow! How did Gen-X'ers ever make it through the 80's??? Poppin' wheelies all over the place without a helmet after being told to stay out of the house until the street lights come on.... what has this world come to?? Geezus...
I guess kids can't be kids anymore. Minnesota is getting pathetic.
Once an engine is added the e bike can go over 40 miles an hour and with an obese kid on the bike the splat is messy.
I left their state after experiencing the corruption 1st hand.
These kids cut across me while I’m driving and laughed. They act like they are invisible.
They are invincible duh !
Nothing to do with safety and everything to do with spite.
Wrong. Whether you like it or not, e-bike riders need to obey laws, be safe for themselves and those around them. No matter who is riding.
@@astropioneer3296 Am I'm sure when you drive you NEVER break a law EVER. Give me a break.
@@petebusch9069 So e-bike riders should be able to break laws because everyone breaks laws. Not sure that’s a winning argument, but good luck with that in front of the judge.
@@astropioneer3296 Not even close.
Kids, it's all fun and games until someone is seriously hurt or dead. Then their crappy parents will sue because there wasn't enough done to prevent such a tragedy. Moral of the story, parents have little to no control over their kids. Because kids these days have very little understanding of boundaries.
Should be 15 years old and need an instruction permit like a moped.
I agree this is a moped, same speeds as a 50cc engine.
How dare these kids be outside and having fun!!!
Had a kid run a stop sign right in front of me, with headphones in, never had a clue. Never acknowledged the situation. Very scary.
1:40 “it’s about SAFETY” Doesn’t wear a helmet…
He was standing next to a bike…..🚴…..you don’t need a helmet ⛑️ for that
@@michaelWells-ef9bx I highly doubt the producers placed a bike prop next to him while he was being interviewed & then prompted him to mention bicycle safety. It’s CLEARLY implied that he was or is about to ride a bicycle, WITHOUT a helmet. Anyone with a single brain cell can clearly understand that
@@UHNWI777 Nope he’s fine....bet you Vote for Trump Too.....
@@michaelWells-ef9bx I bet your trump’s suppository
Rather have this than the “Kia” boys
Yay e-bikes! Because kids just aren’t fat and lazy enough…
I just went to a twins game, and a drunk woman was turning on the street with a e-scooter, and she hit this large green dump can, and we had to call an ambulance
State law requires them to be 15 or older. Enforce the law!
Our state go after criminals? LOL!!!!!!!!!!! You get what you vote for.
Only rich kids can afford to run in packs like that. The police know they come from influential families.
This isn’t just teens, I’ve seen adults riding these things recklessly. This e-bike thing is going to get ugly, no regulation and nearly impossible to enforce rules/laws if there were any.
Wake the parents up ! Arrest those who are breaking the law .
Go Outside, Go Outside, that's all u hear. now if u do we'll give u a ticket. No fun in Excelsior
I like how this story is about "E-Bikes" but she's standing in front of a road legal "G-Bike" while telling it 😂
It's only a matter of time before the pedals are removed and they become motorcycles. The original mopeds had pedals too.
Wow! What? Are wheelies illegal? He threatened to take his bike? What the heck?
Just like Minnesota to put kids back in the house playing video games. Omg kids are riding bikes without helmets and doing wheelies. Minnesota is rapidly turning into Portland.
Confiscate the bike. Making the parents pick up the bike.
Like mopeds, e-bikes need a specific legal classification: In many regions, mopeds are classified differently from motorcycles and may have specific licensing, registration, and insurance requirements. This classification often takes into account engine size and top speed.
I really don't get this. We already have laws involving the road and recklessness. It seems like the cops just want to be able to stop whoever they want, or they want to appease Rich old people that think the kids are going too damn fast. Bicycles are already required to follow road regulations like anyone else. They have some differences in the way they have to, but reckless driving is still reckless driving on a bicycle. They don't need other laws to enforce this.
Why don’t you pave a bike lane like Norway. It keeps motorist safe and bikers safe. People complain about children not getting enough exercise then fine them when they try!!!!😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Exercise on an ebike ? Your joking right ? Cause that's gold . American gold . " Gunna hop on my motorized bike for some exrsize " .
@@nellietolb420quick question how do you use pedals on a bicycle
@@advokatieebikes move with or without pedaling. Most of these kids are not pedaling.
The Excelsior area has miles of paved and unpaved trails. But in general these kids are a hazard to every form of traffic as they do not have the wherewithal to be alert and respectful of their surroundings.
It's their choice on wearing a helmet not the city.
Considering that an e-bike can cruise over 40 miles an hour and when a crash happens the obese kid makes a large splat.
How the fuck is the bikes, the problem? It’s the driver that’s the problem. You can say the same thing about people driving cars that be on their phone and driving and hit people and flea scene. it’s not about the bikes. It’s all about the driver and the responsibility driver rather if you’re on a bike or a car.
After watching this video one thing stood out to me and I couldn’t forget it. It was the comment right at the start of “for those that can afford them”. I shared this video with over 50 people and they all felt the same once they rewatched it. This was a deliberate comment that creates divide between others. Sure e-bikes can be expensive but I know many struggling families that work hard to buy one of these for their kids. Shame on this reporter for taking kids having fun to make a political point.
....bothering kids about wheelies? Worry about speeding auto drivers. Economy is going to run a tiny bit faster. And people are speeding. If you want lower inflation, police the roads of drivers.
Those bike helmets are a JOKE
Maybe mommy and daddy shouldn’t let the kids feel like their entitled to everything
If this is our biggest issue around here I'd say things are about as good as it can get, don't ask for too much more 😂
these are rich kid problems, parents need to stop giving their kids the credit card
Huh? I was in North mpls and most were black kids. So.. they must be rich there.
@@Greghh1960 this is lake minnetonka bro, where did north mpls come from?
I used to operate a gas station on west broadway, nmpls is the opposite of minnetonka
Maybe they should pass an ordnance that everyone needs to be on a lounge chair…. For safety…..
“ not all the wildebeests survive the annual migration “.
They should be banned under 18
First they want you off the gas dirtbike now they want you to be "safe"
They need licenses
Some of these bikes go well over 60mph.
At least kids are outside actually riding... instead of, oh idk... sitting inside, doing nothing with life? What a good problem to have. lol
Kids are ruling for everyone.
Bunch of crap fake news
They're not laws these are just color codes they just make up there's no law that requires you to have a driver's license
The bike needs to be licensed. It teaches accountability .
We are forgetting something , these are Motorized Vehicles and there are already laws in place that govern them . The problem is most Municipalities don't want to invest the time into enforcing the laws because it takes them away from more important duties . All the laws that are set for motorcycles are supposed to be enforced for these Vehicles , they are supposed to stop at a Stop Sign and put both feet on the ground for 3 seconds and then if it is safe they may go . If it is a Red Light they are supposed to stop and stay until it is green and then go ect.ect. I also think , just like when I was a kid , these Vehicles should be required a License , and MAYBE Insurance . A majority of people riding these are children and we should be teaching them responsibility and these things would help .
Actually wrong, E-Bikes are not considered motorized vehicles because they can only travel at a speed that is equal to what a bicycle can travel. They are governed by the laws involving bicycles.
@@TheJaggerseven Just your opinion and you are entitled to it .
@@nativestacker4185 I'm not trying to start an argument with you or anything but I can post the laws involving bikes if you'd like. E-bikes are not a motorized vehicle under Minnesota law. That part is simply a fact, not an opinion. The other stuff I said is definitely an opinion and you can take that or leave it. Have a nice day.
@@TheJaggerseven Think about it , who made those laws , it was Democrats that is why they are contradictory . Definition of a motor vehicle : A land based vehicle that is self propelled and not on rails used to transport people and objects . That is fact . To be more specific an electric vehicle is an absolute definition because it is Electric and has a Motor propelling it , where most cars don't , they have an engine , but are still considered a Motor Vehicle .
@@nativestacker4185 2. Is a bicycle considered a motor vehicle in Minnesota?
No.
Minnesota Statute 169.011, Subdivision 42:
A “motor vehicle” is defined as every vehicle which is self-propelled and every vehicle which is propelled by electric power obtained from overhead trolley wires. Motor vehicle does not include an electric personal assistive mobility device or a vehicle moved solely by human power.
If they can’t follow all road way rules and laws then take them away and fine them starting at a thousand dollars. And put them in jail
Money Man :)
Damn Parents
Would u rather kids doing drugs🤷♂️
They need a speed limit on those bikes. However, can any motorized bikes start using the trails now?
Class 2 and below e-bikes are limited to assist pedaling up to 20mph from the manufacturer.
Class 3 (faster, usually with a pure throttle function as well as pedal assist) already requires a license in most places.
