Back then, Brazil and Ronaldo were the face of Nike. In 1998, Ronaldo wasn't 100% ready to play the final due health issues but Nike forced the Brazilian FA to play him regardless and we all know what happened. Rigged is a bit strong, more like forced Brazil to make money.
One of the craziest things is that without that seizure R9 could have won 3 Balon D’ors at 21. In a row. In 1996 a 19 year old Ronaldo came second by only 1 vote (he should have won over Sammer to be honest), and in 1998 without the seizure he surely would have won the World Cup and then the Ballon D’or.
France wasn't weak, not better than Brasil, but really good, there was Zidane, Thuram, Henry, Vieira, didn't help that their best match was the final one, but Ronaldo's convulsion affected his whole team, except Edmundo, it was enough to give france the edge.

And about Morroco, yes they were no bad team, but to say they were one of the strongest and would finish 4th before the tournament was insane, so though it's confirmed it's reasonably to assume they were favored.
I think what happened is that Ronaldo was simply injured by the time leading up to the final. Then there was a brash attempt to keep him on by injecting him but it resulted in the convulsions. All because he simply HAD to play for the fans and yes for Nike too. By the time the final started Ronaldo was just a mess and the whole teams morale was just destroyed. I think a big flaw that showed up was not having Romario. Edmundo was too much of a drop off but Romario was elite as well and would’ve been able to play by the time of the knock out stages from injury. Romario would’ve been the perfect cushion for Ronaldo who simply suffered too much physically and he even payed for it more even after that World Cup.
Back in 1993 Jairzinho proposed to Kalamata F.C. [a greek football cllub] to take the 17yeard old Ronaldo, about a year before he came to Europe! But Kalamata's President hesitated and then he went to PSV. It was already too late!
Thank you for making this video. I remember this was my first WC and I got to love football just a year or two before being 8 years old. That final made no sense even back then, Brazil looked nothing like it was the whole tournament before. Later I watched it many times and it's obvious they threw the match. I believe it was the mix of everything you've mentioned, bribery, sponsors, throwing, fatigued and stressed out players. France was a very good team but not even close to that Brazil. Ronaldo should've been the official GoaT, damn that riggery and curse that horrible injury. R9 is still a legend, but looking back at that 1998 always feels painful and unfair.
There is so much conspiracy and garbage dealing going on in sports that I have never paid a single hard-earned cent to see any of them. I'm fed up with most sports. Trust me, even motor racing is rigged. The last race of the 1997 season, the Williams team came under fire for allegedly cutting a spoken agreement with McLaren to hold back so Mika Hakkinen could get his first GP win. Suddenly, it was all hushed up and forgotten. Then the very next year, Hakkinen snores his way to the EASIEST world title ever. I was so disgusted that I just about gave up. I only watched the races when Ferrari were winning. After that, I switched off permanently.
Clickbait title. the only thing that could be true is nike sponsorship knowing where it lead to. that doesnt mean they rigged it, it means they just made Ronaldo to play regardless of his health. Losing the world cup final would make them lose money even, which I bet it's what happened since everyone wanted Zidane's brand new adidas boots when he was in Juventus. Also Giovanni not featuring in the squad in 1999 even if he was before bcs he didnt have a contract with nike.
That 98 World Cup I vividly remember like yesterday. It was thr first World Cup I ever watched since I was too young to even know what football was for the 94 World Cup. But that 98 World Cup final was so off it did not feel right. It felt like decision was already made for 🇫🇷 to win before the game started. 🇧🇷 was playing so bad, I've never seen the golden generation 🇧🇷 play that bad. Ronaldo in that match was pretty much non-existent even Rivaldo & all the other main guys. Something was really wrong with that 98 World Cup final that till this day does not sit well with me, just like with the 06 World Cup final & some of the 22 World Cup matches. I'm not going to deny Zidane's talent because even for me he's one of the best of that generation, but he was definitely not on Ronaldo (R9), Ronaldinho (R10/R11) & Rivaldo (R10) in their prime, especially the first two in their prime.
Zidane's 1998 Ballon D'or was undeserved, just like Ronaldo in 2002. The truth is Ronaldo should've won the Ballon D'or in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. 4 Ballon D'ors and 9-10 world class seasons should be enough for him to be a top 7-8 player of all time at least.
That's right, the team were inadequately prepared for the situation, and first tried to get him to sleep it off! Then to walk it off, then suspected poisoning and that is mainly why they actually sent him to hospital on suspicion.
The one constant in sports is how evil the owners and major corporate leaders will act. They took the peoples games and have taken the focus away from local athletic access of all type.

The last goal France scored was passed onto mbappe with his French teammates hand following the corner. But no one saw it until now that of course people can re-watch it and has gone viral. If anyone was rigged it's argentina and messi from a winning goal and a golden boot. U Muppets
I also had the opportunity to witness this unthinkable and its utterly weird. Something was outrageously wrong. France was gifted the cup. They didn't win it. The Brasilians on the pitch were lost somewhere as if they had just landed on a different planet and they had no idea where they were and what for. Yes, its was rigged for sure.
Brasil had the 2 of the best strikers on earth at the time in Ronaldo and Romario. Although many consider prime R9 the pinnacle of individual brilliance as a football player, leaving out Romario who was Still a terrific player was on the coach. With Romario Brasil would still have their leader upfront from the past decade. Stubbornness from the coach cost them thr world cup. France did it's job.
It wasn't rigged and no one tried to kill Ronaldo, the first theory you mention about Xylocaine sounds the most logical and explains everything quite clearly in terms of Ronaldo's weak knees. And are we seriously going to dismiss it just because his doctor who doesn't even know what a convulsion is said no one was taking any injection, obviously they are going to try to hide this information from public for as long as possible. As for the match itself, yes Nike forced Ronaldo to play because of the huge money deal, but that's not rigging the match, they didn't care who won the final, they just wanted to make sure their investment is represented and Brazil played poorly because they were shook up by Ronaldo's near death experience and couldn't focus on the match, so obviously easy match for France. Going into fancy and complex theories is fun and all, but in reality things are never so complicated, all the corrupt and shady shit that happens is always done in the simplest way possible, this ain't the movies where the villain plans some crazy sequence of events that would require all the start to align to happen. Once Brazil X SK final was certain Korea would be on his own. @@ggh_-ts6pn Why? simple. If Mbappe had won the World Cup, it would have been his second one in a row, an unprecedented thing, almost at Pele's level. That would have been the end for Messi; a new guy wins the biggest trophy you never won two times in a row, the first 2 times he had played the tournament. Messi have been the main economic asset for Fifa and Sponsors the last 15 years, it was impossible that they let Messi once again lose the final (his last one presumably). On the other hand, Messi's boss at PSG is Qatari, they had to do it, it's a money thing. The Qatari boss of the world cup even said before the cup that "it would be nice to see Messi win the world cup here", the same thing said Infantino too. Why not Mbappe you ask? he have time, it's young, and Fifa needed desperately to make one of their biggest players of the last two decades a winner of all. Perhaps, this explains why the player Leonardo declared the following sentence: "If people knew what happened in the World Cup, they would be disgusted". All Brazilians were shocked and saddened for having missed the soccer World Cup in France. Should not. What is exposed below is the first-hand news that is being investigated by radio stations and newspapers from all over Brazil and some foreigners, more specifically Wall Street Journal of Americas and Gazzeta delo Sport and should be published in the media soon, as soon as the news evidence is gathered and confirms the facts. Proven fact: Brazil SOLD the world cup to FIFA. The Brazilian starting players were advised, at 13:00 on July 12 (day of the final game), in a meeting involving Mr. Ricardo Teixeira (on the only time the president of the CBF attended a national team briefing), coach Mário Zagallo, Mr. Américo Faria, selection supervisor, and Mr. Ronald Rhovald, representative of sponsor Nike. Reserve players remained in isolation, in their rooms or in the hotel lobby. At first very upset, the players refused to exchange the five-time world championship for hosting the World Cup. Acceptance came through full payment of prizes, US$70,000.00 for each player, plus a bonus of US$400,000.00 for all players and committee members, for a total of US$23,000,000.00 twenty-three million dollars) through the company Nike. In addition, players who accept the contract with the company Nike in the next 4 years will have the same prize bases as the company's elite players, such as Ronaldo himself, Raul, from Spain, Batistuta, from Argentina and Roberto Carlos, as well. from Brazil. Even so, Ronaldo refused to play, which forced coach Zagallo to choose Edmundo, saying that Ronaldo was having problems with his left knee (in the first piece of news published at 1:30 pm at the press center) and, shortly afterwards, at 14:15, changing the prognosis for stomach problems). His situation was only resolved after the Nike representative threatened to withdraw his lifetime sponsorship of the player, valued at more than $90,000,000.00 (ninety million dollars) throughout his career. Thus, it was agreed that Brazil would be defeated during the 'Golden Goal' (overtime with sudden death), but the apathy that befell the starting players meant that France, which absolutely did not participate in this negotiation, scored, in two simple failures of the Brazilian team, the first goals. Mr. Sepp Blatter, the new president of FIFA, a French-Swiss citizen, applauded the collaboration of the Brazilian team, since the world championship brought balance to France at a time of the highest unemployment rates ever recorded in that country, which will be aggravated by the recent introduction of euro (European single currency) and the European common market (ECC). He also assured Mr. Ricardo Teixeira, through his uncle, João Havelange, that Brazil would have an easier way for the fifth championship in 2002. Please pass this message on to as many people as possible, so that everyone can get to know the filth that surrounds football!

A lot of theories. Only one thing is true, every World Cup, Fifa takes a bribe lol. Well, at least they are consistently following tradition.
Do one specifically on Ronaldo Nazario
France clearly brought that world cup the world could see. In the same way, Argentina brought this last one.

Rivaldo in his prime was the best to me
“Hours went by before Ronaldo was rushed to the hospital…” WTAF??!
That's right, the team were inadequately prepared for the situation, and first tried to get him to sleep it off! Then to walk it off, then suspected poisoning and that is mainly why they actually sent him to hospital on suspicion.

How u penaldo cryer who is the biggest flop in WC history? Argentina was by far the best team, winning 3 trophies in a row against Brazil in Copa America, Italy in la Finalissima 3-0, and france who in 80 min did nothing and giving him 2 penaltis and a last big chance, and then bottling in penaltis.
How was the referees helping them by calling 3 of their goals off side against Saudi Arabia, Gave The Netherlands 10 mins to tie up with them and gave France 2 penalties against them while ignoring France handballs 🤦🏾♂️
@@mo.011tbf fair Netherlands put in some big dudes and sent a shit load of crosses against little ass dudes, genuinely makes sense they tied it up. great work, as always
France rode brazil like a pony that day however brazil lwere drugged by maradonas argentina years back and they admitted to it, he did.
Messi and Argentina don’t have a contract with Nike but people still like to say they rigged the world cup
Also Brazil would never throw a final just to get a easy group stage in the next World Cup, that makes zero logic.

France was given the world cup in 98. What a joke. Brazil was way better. Thats why i still consider the 98 wc the worst and the most fixed i ever seen. Zidane and that whole french team was a freaking joke.

Edmundo was quite a character and a fantastic player. You should make a video about "O Animal"
Regarding favours for the 2002 world cup, Rivaldo, after the 2002 QF with England said "we have already played the final" which with hindsight makes me wonder if England was one of the only teams that wasn't either paid off, in a group of death, or just not that good.
just look at their semi and final competitor, remember england at the time was at golden generation they r stack to the teeth in all position similar to todays france and 2010 spain. you can argue their golden generation didn't win shit to show for it, but u can not argue at the time england r not better then turkey or a lacklaster germany.
@laujack24 I think that's probably right, but I'm not totally convinced. I went back and looked at the England lineup on the day and it wasn't as star studded as you'd imagine for the era.
Or, he's simply saying England at that time were much better than Turkey/Germany and South Korea - so they were confident they'd already won from that point.
@@jameshunt6414 Maybe a bit of research would have helped you. At that time, England didn't have anybody on the left-wing who was good, hence Sinclair ending up playing.
Mills was starting as Gary Neville was injured and out of the tournament.
Butt was playing because Gerrard was injured and Lampard hadn't become an England regular yet.
Heskey always started back then.
That was England's first-choice 11 minus 2 players.
@pinealdreams1064 I didn't say it wasn't England's first choice 11, I said it wasn't as star studded as you'd imagine. Thank you for proving my point. Also I actually watched the game, at the time
I prefer Nike balls over Adidas, they're just better
2002 match Brazil - Belgium was rigged for sure
Ronaldo had an epileptic seizure. It is not corruption. Epilepsy is not corruption.
