I love your enthusiasm, Shinichi! It makes every place you visit more exciting. Thank you both for showing us a local gem like Jujo Shotengai. I enjoy seeing well-known/historic places, but I truly relish discovering lesser-known, interesting areas like this. When I travel, I tend to go for less touristy places that allow me be more deeply immersed in the local culture. Love to you both. ❤️❤️

Arigato, Shinichi-san for this video. I'm sure those Japan lovers who only equate Japanese shopping with Ginza, Shibuya or Akihabara, will find this one a worthy round right after pandemic restrictions are over. Jujo reminds me of Taipei's Xi Men Ting, the same kind of shops, food stalls and take-aways. The atmosphere is simply heaven for those who love shopping.

Thanks for visiting this area. I stayed in an AirBnB around there on my trip in early March 2020 before the pandemic closed Japan. Brought back some great memories. I saw some places are still in business. Glad to see they survived the tough times. Looking forward to more videos from spots some tourists don't venture to.

I genuinely don't undertand how those restaurants make a living with such low prices. If I lived close, I would buy there each day. Those veggie croquettes looked really good.

@@Shinichisworld Hi! Thank you for asking :) Mom was very young and left Tokyo when she was about 4 yrs old. She moved to Minakami in Gumma Prefecture because it was a safer place for her to live with WWII going on. The only memory she has of the area is that her mom and dad would take her to a small park in the area. The name of the park was Asukayama (hill??). We both miss Japan and we hope to come visit again. Please take good care of yourself and each other. You are like part of our family and we so much enjoy your talks and food videos.❤😊

Thank you for sharing this. Didn't know there's a cheaper Shotengai in Ginza. I've utilized Ameyo-cho in Ueno; Kurimon market (covered shotengai) in Osaka too. Really enjoyed shopping for fresh fruits, foods, souvenir sembei crackers, rolled cakes, Meiji and KitKat chocolates, preserved dried seafoods, etc. there. If one knows where to look, not all is expensive when visiting Japan. Just research and learn.

Japan's Chuka Ryori (Japanese-style Chinese food) developed in the late 19th century. The Chinese dishes were adapted to suit the tastes of the Japanese. It is not considered wholly Chinese or Japanese, but a hybrid cuisine.

As they are snacks, preservatives are used in some of their products. We will be talking about another company that offers products that are strictly organic and free of chemicals or preservatives next month so stay tuned.
