I'm loving this track but I'm curious, did Cory's Vulf Compressor license expire or something? That seems like the only thing missing here. It still sounds great, though!
honestly I stumbled upon this track on Spotify and I thought that it was a popular radio hit. Expected to find it sitting on RUclips with hundreds of millions of views lol, how is this song not playing everywhere?
Seriously, I'm really digging Cory's lead playing. You hear his rhythmic excellence in Vulfpeck but wow he can really sing some lead lines with that stratocaster too.
Agree, great solo, I constantly tried to figure out why his sound on the solo is so familiar, then listened to it without looking at the clip, and BINGO! Lee Ritenour! mostly his early electric stuff, great solo, that reminded me another great guitarist.
Actually, if you look at Cory's guitar during the solo, it's still in 4th position. If you pause at 2:44, you can clearly see the pickup selector. It's anyone's guess if he was actually on the bridge pickup during the studio recording or not.
I honestly like the narrative behind this. In the beginning, the guy Cory plays wants to be the best. But realizing that hes aiming for something that seems oit of range, he learns to try his best. He lands himself in a better place and, in the end, the two guys just become friends
Love the "Berstein Gold" inspiration - Marti Fischer is amazing and so happy to see him on another track with you Cory! Can't wait to see you in Atlanta in a few weeks Cheers from Florida
Zach Matthews A bit more than "inspiration" if you'd ask me… But then again, I don't know who wrote the original song and what their deal behind it was (if there was any)
@@YourMJK same here! It was this weird sense of familiarity that I couldn't quite specify, but I noticed the similarities the other day. Cory, Cody and Marti would probably make an AWESOME supergroup
When are we going to get the stupendous collaboration of Fry's expert composition skills mixed with Wong's potent funk-jazz/jazz-funk energy on one full album? The four songs I've found of their dynamic duo teamwork is absolutely... well... golden.
1:10 Looking over there at the grass at your place, Wondering why it's greener than mine. While you're looking over here at my studio space, Wishing that you had that kinda time. Nice.
Arghghhh... Can't stop playing this song! Quality one guys, stuck in my head all day every day for the last week. Can't wait to see Cory in London next month, it's gonna be a brilliant night.
I thought this song sounded familiar, and then I heard the solo kick in and I realized this is just Bernstein Gold but this time with lyrics. Still slaps
3:32 what do you say after "top-shelf"??? all the lyrics I found end the line there or they add "gold" but I hear something more like "overload", or, I mean, I think it's a longer word
@@CoryWongMusic "i can't quit til my top shelf overflows"! thank you so much!! sorry if your answer was intended to bring more people to reddit 😅 but I feel like this could be useful to others

In the beginning I thought: "oh, why is theo not singing this?!" then I realized that's not a vulfpeck song :D
Yes!
Heard the wurli and b3 and drum style and forgot that it wasn’t a Vulf song

Seems like the kind of shot that you'd have to make using CGI, doesn't it?
