Metal Album Origins: A Rock & Metal Plus Contest Entry

Cheers to Johnny over at Rock & Metal Plus for hitting 500 subscribers! Because he's such a stand up bloke, he's hosting a killer contest where the participants have the chance to show off 5 different albums that got us into 5 different subgenres of music. I love talking about metal origins as there are so many different ways to get into this special style of music. Presented here are 6 (I cheated) albums that pushed me forward in my metal journey! Once again thanks to Johnny for hosting this cool contest. It's been awesome seeing everyone's unique origin stories that got them into extreme music!

AC/DC are responsible for shaping a lot of our music journeys. I really like CTE and at least one of the Shadow Fall albums I have. As for black metal I only discovered it around 2018 as I've never or at least associated any bands/songs I may have heard but it quite possibly is my favourite genre now.

Did someone say Alice in Chains greatest hits? Great thread/contest from Johnnie Mac, I love hearing people's origin stories. My only time seeing Megadeth was on the 20th anniversary tour for countdown, they played the entire album. Pretty cool show. The War Within is such a killer album, definitely a highlight from the oft crapped on Nwoahm movement. Great video Logan!

Yes. I am a big fan of the X-Factor. 👍🏽 that’s a dope TOMBS l-sleeve too amigo…I had keg beer when I was 19…don’t know what it was, but that was it. Was really into straight edge for those early years. I’m a Budweiser man. So don’t include those as my origin beer, I’ll go Ice House. Steel Reserve. Mickeys.
Musical origin albums for me were…
Men at Work…first album.
Ozzy Bark at the moon was my first rock one.
NWA-straight out of Compton, huge rap fan to this day.
The first Korn, the first Deftones, first Rage Against the machine.
Maiden “live after the death” started me on that path.
Slayer hell awaits. I was still a kid so I would have to ask my parents to get me some of these things, and I asked for reign in blood. She looked at it and said no. Then on my birthday, they take me to red lobster cause I’m a big seafood guy and she gives me Hell Awaits which is funny because she thought she was buying me reign in blood. I’m giving you the short short version. Lol so I’m just gonna throw these three in because they’re really important to me..
