  • A refight of the Battle of Asculum between Pyrrhus of Epirus and the Roman Republic. We used the To the Strongest Rules.
We ended up starting the game several hours late, so we were not able to play the whole game. I was pretty exhausted by the time we actually got going, so there are several rules mistakes - most notably forgetting saves for commanders.
This is my first battle report and I learned a lot filming this. The next ones I do will be much higher quality!

Thanks! large element bases was my big revelation this year. For Ancient armies I don't see myself going back to individual bases.

What size of table are you playing on, and what do you think about playing on cloth?

This is on a 6 X 4 table, this mat is a mousepad material one, and my other mat is like a fleece blanket type material. I actually really like the mats I prefer them to physical terrain tables

@@TriariusWarGaming do you have any issues with the cloth mats when moving models?

@@BearGrisham I’ve had no problems! I would recommend them as they look great and very convenient storage

does to the strongest have different units for Triarri, principes, and hastati or do they just rate them all as legionaries?

The Polybian legions have unique rules compared to the later legions. In TTS you have small units (1 hit point), regular units (2 hit points), and Deep units (3 hit points). As of the latest edition of the rules Polybian legions are deployed in a connected stack of three small units (hastati, Principes, Triarii) making one deep unit. They are allowed to do a line relief mechanism to recover hit points and replenish Pila. The Triarii may also detach from the stack in specific circumstances.
