Great seeing a C8 being used the right way, what it was designed for, by a competent driver. You make Zora Arkus-Duntov proud, as this is what he originally envisioned the Corvette to be. It's not for donuts, burnouts, and drag strips--the C8 belongs on tracks like the Nordschleife. Thanks Misha for taking it out for us. Next, a Z06, then maybe the Z06 GT3.R when it's available in a year or two.
Can’t argue with your comments, only add that it also belongs in my garage and wrapped around my out of shape body as I drive it as my daily driver the past two years! What fun.
@@russhartley4964 If I had one as a daily driver, I'd probably get in too much trouble. I think my RAV4 will continue to be my daily, but I'll need something larger with towing capacity for the trailer that will transport my Z06 GT3.R to the track. Hopefully it will be available to the public soon.

when times are commonly quoted in magazines, is it bridge to gantry? Like the C8 testing Gm did with their factory driver, they lapped just under 7:30.. not sure if it is BTG
@@jjukjkjiok7782 I think it might be Sport Auto (20.6 km). The times are usually either the full 20,832 m or Sport Auto 20,600 m. Sometimes, it may be the Tourist (BTG) 19,100 m.

That's on the "race" setting. It's pretty straight forward, nothing extra to distract you.
Wow - incredible lap honestly. You really had the car on the edge of the lateral grip - you kept it way more stable than I thought it would be

It will likely be faster. It has almost 700hp and is mid engined.

This car was developed at the 'Ring and Chevy had up to 8 cars (based on the videos) testing there at one time, some with system engineers driving but most processional race car and test drivers. It shows....

GM ought to hire him to set lap times. I noticed the brakes have been upgraded (excellent). And that was the best driving I've seen in a C8. You make the other youtube guys look silly!!! Notice he has PTM ON. Oh, ya, that is the single most amazing option on the C8 (IMO)
If you like tracking your C8 you might consider the Speedway Composites Chassis X Strut Brace. It improves lap times considerably and looks great. For top down cruising they have Wind Screens. Plus several products to keep dust and water off the engine and increase cabin storage!
Very fast and capable car - You can see the mass of the car as it doesn't seem to get upset by bumps or curbs
Yess ! I am pleased with oil temps. Warms a oil analysis geek's heart 😂😂
The oil temperature never rose above 106 degrees centigrade. Very impressive cooling on this beast!

The C8 Z51 with Sport Cup 2s will be an insane track car setup. Entering and exiting corners faster (more grip) is the genesis of all best lap times - not just HP.

That oil temp is fucking solid. My Cupra has 105 degrees with city driving and 122 on track :D
I don't know the lap time difference but I can imagine that a harness will add lots of time...and the right diff setting. The e-diff is pretty adjustable.
The Chevy driver who drove the 2018 ZL1 1LE should be the one to make the official time.
That guy was prepared to die on the track lol. That was wild.

Any car with this kind of power and this kind of enthusiastic use thereof will consume huge amounts of fuel. It's physics. Gasoline has a fixed amount of energy.
Normal stuff, the range adapts to the new fuel consumption.

If you want to improve the performance of a C8 with better responsiveness, control, chassis rigidity and lap times, install a Speedway Composites Chassis Strut X Brace

Im trying to find the extra $$ for a Z06. Hard to find and even harder in the color combo I want Elkhart Lake Blue with Tension blue interior. With new job starting soon lets cross my fingers and pray for it. E

I have been watching your old videos misha like from 2016-17-18. I have started watching the 2019 playlist. And I have been seeing Martin in every comment section. I did not know about him before. Wonder if the C8 Z06 has a standard oil pan or a dry sump. Some of the issues with oil starvation at the track are due to that.
It comes w 3 pump dry sump system.
All of them are dry sump even the base C8

I could literally see from my desk that the tires were bad so no Misha, its not an excuse its a reality, tires are crucial and those are obviously terrible.
Its the equivalent of not being able to shoot a target cause the ammunition is horrific.
So much understeer.

the nrg harness is def a sketchy move in my opinion. they've been known to fail in the even of a crash whether it be the buckle breaking or the harness itself snapping

Man, every time I see C8 videos and I look at the oil pressure, I'm thinking to myself, yeah that's not going to live for very long. I don't know what they've done and the engine doesn't eat through the rod bearings like cereal.

I had to go convert it as I'm American and used to psi, but I seen it drop around about 216kpa(maybe slightly less as I rewinded after seeing your comment), but 216kpa is around about 31psi....that's not terrible, it's not great for a fresh engine, but it's not dropping into the 10s at least, oil is definitely moving under pressure.
They have volume driven oil pumps, but WOT seems to be like 45 psi
It is a dry sump system designed for track. Dry sump systems have lower oil pressure than wet sump and are superior for track use. They last long. Ask the guys at Ron Fellows.
