  • Would you jump in? At the right time of year, this amazing gathering of Manta Rays and Whale Sharks occurs off the coast of Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. By day you can find whale sharks cruising around, but they are really just filling in time, waiting for the feeding frenzy at night, when the ocean fills with plankton and all the whale sharks gather along the coast - even in the shallows - to feast! Not many people get the chance to do this!

Haha! It wasn't scary when there was something to concentrate on, like the whale sharks. Bit creepy when they left...

Wow, I'm so surprised those sharks didn't eat you whole once. Don't you guys get scared if wild animals (or in this case wild sea creatures) swallow and eat you whole?? Or do you think sharks get used to humans swimming near them all the time??

These are whale sharks, they are filter feeders and like whales, eat tiny shrimp etc, they don't even have teeth, absolutely harmless and not predators at all. Only risk to me would be if I was silly enough to get hit by a fin or something, or some other actual shark came along.
