Nice Fixture! AEG invented this opening system in 1969 by the Minikoffer and today it's still used by Siteco SL10 & SL20/21, Thorn R2L2 or Trilux Cuvia.
You can also find this hatch opening system in Philips SRC 510 - 511. Yeah this system is fragile so no wonder if the canopy are often fell off to the road due to lack of maintenance.
I know the video is a bit old but I want to ask a question? Will the 70w PHILIPS CDM electronic ballast work with an HPS lamp of the same wattage? Please help me
However the light distribution will not right with clear bulbs. The newer STE reflector was designed for such lamps and it was very superior compared to other lantern manufacturers.

One of my favorite street fixtures, I also have the same one, only a newer one with a T-POT reflector.

Isn’t this reflector meant for the elyptical lamps, rather than clear/tubular?
It fits both. SON-T is a modernized version of the SON lamp
